fuck, do you go sit sometimes and think that weâre actually gonna get some closure this year⌠like all this frustration about Dean and Cas becoming canon is gonna end this year⌠whether positively or not⌠it.is.going.to.end. no more over-analysing of their scenes, dialogues, micro-expressions⌠no more new content for the mounting pile of evidence⌠sure, it may end up as a huge slap in the face, but it is going to end. fuck⌠itâs gonna end. i mean, itâs been years of them playing around the line, keeping us on our toes⌠but all the frustration is going to be over soon⌠and weâll finally be able to pick the pieces for what their truly are⌠no more guessing or hoping⌠Like, this perpetual feeling of great potential will be over, whether itâll get realised or not. weâll get closure at last
If Destiel wasnât about sex for you, but rather a severely depressed man with suicidal tendencies and an angel who felt like he never belonged finally accepting the love that they never thought they deserved, clap your hands!

2x20 and Deanâs Djinn dream makes me feel a lot of feelings. Right now what comes to mind is that while in Deanâs dream scenario, Sam ends up with Jessica, the love of his life, the partner that Dean gives himself isnât a real person but rather the girl from the El Sol ad on the beach holding a beer.Â
I donât know, thereâs just something hitting me about the fact that Dean didnât choose Cassie or someone else he had real feelings for, but rather decided to slot in a fake person who represented the image of something he wanted in a partner and love interest. Season 2 leans pretty heavily on Deanâs feelings of inadequacy and worthlessness, and itâs clear from this episode that he doesnât see himself as deserving of any kind of real love, particularly from someone whoâs not bound by familial obligation to give it to him (full disclosure: Iâve used that phrase when talking about Dean before, but honestly I think itâs something that comes up a lot with him, so insert Raymond Holt * And you shall hear it again!* gif here.)
Whatâs more, if you feel like getting punched in the heart, think about 2x20 in relation to season 15. Instead of the fake beer ad girl, heâs got a destiny defying angel who assures him, in no uncertain terms, that what they have between them is real:
Dean. You asked, âWhat about all of this is real?â We are.
For so long Deanâs felt undeserving of love, and then along comes Cas, who not only confesses his love to Dean, but whilst doing so, makes sure to tell Dean that heâs essentially love personified. Cas needs Dean to know that he deserves to be loved, and he that he is. Cas sees Dean, all of him, and he loves him with everything that he has.Â
That was always the one thing Dean never really allowed himself to truly want, something he would never have expected. And Cas gave it to him.
Chuck: And then Dean gets nailed to death!
Becky: Mmm hmm, mm hmm
Becky: *Picking up phone* Alexa, how do you kill a God?
remember when the writers were like dean is a bway stan and we just had to sit there

One unimportant little man. What makes you think you get to choose?
me explaining that if you ignore like 85% of supernatural it is actually a powerful found family/love story feat. many gays and a large cast of mean sexy women
I think itâs so much of this. I love everything about SPN as I am not obsessed with unhealthy family dynamics and incest.
Comment under a photo of woman's hairy arms. Uh oh misogyny
Seeing other women in their natural body state, i.e. with their body hair intact, shouldn't make you anxious and stressed. If body hair growing on other women gives you "dysphoria", get the fuck off the interent and go see a therapist.
"this doesn't work if men and women are suddenly the same" boo-fucking-hoo, we're not going to uphold patriarchy just to spare your feelings
the aftermath
Dean Winchester is straight up not having a good time
This is what happened, right?
there was something too that felt like a stab to the heart for me, sam turning off the bunker's lights before leaving forever, because for years we have considered that place their home, a refuge, specially for dean, many moments have taken place there, both in canon and in fans' creations, and suddenly it lost all that meaning, and it was empty and would never be the place for that bright and happy future i had hoped for for all of them
Not to mention it completely undermines the entire narrative of âsaving the world.âÂ
Like okay Chuck is gone but werewolves and vampires and harpies and all that other shit are all still out there? The bunker is filled with knowledge and tools and Samâs just going to let all that sit dormant so that the bunker can be a mausoleum to the memory of his dead brother?Â
#yeah #what I loved was that...sam didn't have a life after? #we don't know what he did for work #for fun #we don't know what friends he had or even where he lived #we know that at some point some female birthed him a Dean#and the rest of his life was stereotypical hallmark moments with dean until dean was old enough to take care of HIM #so yeah #I know we rage that the finale was a fuck you to dean #but it was also such a fuck you to sam #it was genuinely - and I say this impressed - a fuck you to every single character on their show #every single one (via @milenadanielsâ)
Is Destiel Canon Yet?
11/25/20: Si.
SPN 15X21 - In the Empty
Jack: Hey, you think Dean and Sam will notice we're gone?
Castiel:
Jack: Are you mad that I messed up the rescue mission to get you from the Empty?
Castiel: No
Jack: Because I am only 3 years old
Castiel: I know
Jack: And the Empty promised me nougat
SPN 15x21 - In hell
Demon One: Oh Dean, I love you so much!
Demon Two: And I love you Cas, but we can't! We can't, you always leave!
Demon One: And you never ask me to stay
Demon Two: My Angel!..What if I asked you to stay? Because...I'm asking
Demon One: Oh Dean!
*fake over-exagerrated kissing noises*
Rowena: Would you daft hogs like to get any work done this decade?! There are network executives who won't torture themselves you know
SPN 15X21
Sam: *Taking Dean to a quiet corner of 'heaven'* Dean! I think we're in the Bad Place!
Dean: I've been wondering that myself. But apparently Cas and Jack made this heaven for me so I'm trying to enjoy it
Sam: Jack and Cas did not make this Dean!
Dean: Are you sure? Didn't you have a happy life on earth?
Sam: I was depressed for decades and my wife didn't have a face DEAN
Dean: Wait....Sam, this is the Bad Place!
Sam: I literally JUST said that
To add to @bakasaraâs post, Deanâs death was extremely romantic for an additional reason: it was utterly clean.
If you watched the scene of his speech to Sam and didnât know he supposedly had rebar stuck in his flesh, you wouldnât even tell heâs wounded or dying expect for the lines spoken.
Supernatural isnât the most ârealisticallyâ gore-y show out there. The gore is usually pretty⌠fake-looking. You donât feel queasy watching Supernatural. But it still has gore. Heads get sliced a lot. Sometimes the heroes get punched in the face and temporarily reduced to bloody messes, for instance in the very previous episode, or even in the climatic scene in Swan Song. Even when Dean told Sam âitâs okayâ in Swan Song - the scene this was obviously supposed to be a callback to by contrast - his face is bloody and swollen.
At least⌠the characters groan in pain if theyâre hurt, you know? But not Dean as he dies. Itâs like the event of him being fatally wounded is a separate thing from his death scene.
Dean has a piece of metal inside his chest and doesnât even cough.
He talks for minutes, his voice barely affected. (Where is the metal rod? Inside a lung? Inside his heart? Magically in the middle allowing him minutes of speaking like it wasnât there? I never studied anatomy, but Iâm pretty sure the scene is somewhat not realistic.)
His speech didnât falter. The only thing affecting his speech is Emotionâ˘. Furthermore: usually, when a character has this kind of wound - something puncturing their chest - they cough up blood or are at least shown with a little blood in their mouth, especially if it takes them a while to die and they try to speak. Dean doesnât have blood in his mouth.
Dean is beautiful. Dean looks his perfect pretty self. This is the kind of death you expect from a tragic romance. When the heroine dies in a tragic romance, she doesnât look ugly, she doesnât cough blood, she looks ethereally beautiful. Graceful. Dean dies like the heroine of a tragic romance. Her hand, that was holding her belovedâs hand, drops down, and thatâs when her beloved knows sheâs gone and cries out in desperation.
He doesnât make a single grimace of pain. He says heâs dying but doesnât show it. Heâs basically a female character in a Joss Whedon movie. He needs to look pretty as he passes away gracefully, nice and clean.
There is no blood. Just a beautiful tear.
Thank you. I keep seeing more and more reasons that help me understand why all I felt at the end of that finale was WRONG WRONG WRONG but I could not put it into words at the time. I STILL canât bring myself to rewatch it, which is a total 180 from every other episode of S15. Iâve watched every one of the previous 19 at a minimum of twice, most of the 4 or 5 times.Â
You mentioned Joss Whedon (whose work on Buffy and Firefly I loved)
But there is a term using his name:Â IMO, The Powers That Be have Jossed this show.
They really did Joss it, they definitely killed their darlings and also, no one can end up happy.
