A Camren stuggle in 5 steps
This analysis is based on the songs: Consequences, SGG, and Expectations. The moment? Around the end of 2015/ beginning of the 2016, their second break up in my timeline.
1. Trust issues - In Consequences, Camila mentions trust issues as one of the factors that affected her relationship with Lauren negatively, but she doesn’t go deeper than that. In Expectations, we find out that Lauren stays up all night waiting for Camila when Baby C doesn’t come home, even though she’d promised to. This meant that Camila was breaking promises. You know, that’s a valid reason to have trust issues.
2. Different beds - As mentioned in Expectations, Camila wasn’t coming back home. As they sleep on different beds, they both go back and forth about what is going on between them. Lauren pictures at least seven scenarios while Camila listens to the voices in her head. But the problem is that they never talk about it. But why would they be sleeping on different beds? In SGG, Camila thinks Lauren’s not being honest about her feelings. Then, Camila chooses to run away instead of confronting her girlfriend.
3. Secret keeping - Camila was keeping something from Lauren, as mentioned in IKWYDLS. No, I don’t think she was cheating. But there was something she couldn’t tell Lauren and it was hurting her. On the other hand, Lauren wants Camila to talk to her about her feelings instead of getting into arguments. In all due honesty, Lauren seems to be more mature here than Camila.
4. Little to no expectations - As they continue to not talk about stuff they should’ve talked about ages ago, they have little to no expectations about each other and their relationship. Camila recognizes those signs, but it’s Lauren who feels it the most, to the point where she feels neglected.Camila won’t touch her (I’ve been waiting here all night for you to want me and you haven’t once thought of me) or even check if she’s okay (all these tears that I cry while I’m turned to the side and you’re in the same bed).
5. A negative cycle of silence - Can you see the big picture already? Camila is keeping things from Lauren and breaking promises. They don’t trust each other. Camila thinks that Lauren is lying about her feelings. Lauren feels neglected. They don’t talk about it and they don’t touch each other anymore. Management feeds lies from side to side. Camila is about to leave 5H. Camila and Lauren finally acknowledge that this was too much and break up. While neither of them regret their relationship, it’s obvious that it had consequences.
