Finally getting around to reading angels... beautiful description from May as always
late b day gift from a friend aaaaa :-)))!!
Just finished reading Fluids by May Luitz and god that was so good. Its gonna occupy a space in my mind for a really long time that was incredible, it represented transness (and queerness) in a way I've never seen depicted and I resonated with it so deeply.
Heres my goodreads review! I have so much to say but I'm to lazy to write it out rn
I saw myself in Dahlia and I hated it.
I ADORED this book, it kept its tension high, I couldnt put it down. I read nearly all of it in one night.
Its gross and violent and talks about the queer and trans experience in subtle and unique ways that I've never seen covered. I love that Dahlia was a complete person beyond being trans but her gender was still crucial to her identity, just as it is in real life.
I also really enjoyed the horror of finding a pristine clean room. Theres a few moments in the book where the characters, and you as the reader, are praying that there will be a murder scene but you're met with nothing and it causes so much anxiety.
I think the brief descriptions of violence sell the vividness of it because it really trusts the reader to fill in the blanks.
I fluctuated between loving and hating these characters, much like Laurens fluctuation.
I'm rating this five stars because *I* loved it, but I certainly would not reccomend it to everyone because of its heavy topics. This book will hold a place in my mind for a very long time. It captures the nervousness and yearning and obsession of queer relationships, that I have also lived through. God this was good.
I was literally just thinking that I should re-read May Leitz's books in October yayayay
angels -- May Leitz (1st edition signed preorder) from May Leitz
I really like this album Grindset Blues is my fave!!
This song shares a name with from an earlier track on Ambedo. I think the extremely simplistic song from Ambedo is meant to be a comedy track, or maybe it was going to be the outro for her YouTube videos and used as a snarky Patreon credits jingle.
This song, on the other hand, while it could still be used as a patreon credits jingle, is more intertwined with the message of the album overall. Which is, despite the song’s heavy demeanor, that the one thing that matters in this life is love and the people who you love. The story is about an artist who puts her work in front of everything else, with the goal of fame, money, and wealth, to the point where she push away the only good thing in their life, justifying it to themself by calling their former partners “wack”, describing the relationships as a trap, eventually using the excuse that the love of her life was only with her for her money. But when she sees it clearly after getting super popular, she kills herself in a hotel room after a show.
@mayleitz you tell good stories. I’m very bad at trying to explain my thoughts but I wanna know if my interpretation of A Touch of Grace is anywhere near accurate. I’m certain that I’m missing details and I know leaving some things out because I want people to buy this album and listen to it, but is that remotely close?
me when I got my hand on the stove????? you know I don't feel at home in this world anymore?????? IVE GOT TOO MUCH TO DO IT'LL ONLY HURT A FEW- /lyr
Vagabond cured my depression 💯💯💯
Fluids | May Leitz
I both loved and hated this. I loved how this story was written and found the desperation and depravity deeply uncomfortable. And that depravity was so nauseatingly written that I also hated it. To be clear--I EXPECT to be disgusted in gross splatter punk books and want to paint this as a positive. A disgusting, horrifying positive. I actually read this on a long train ride in Japan and full disclosure was nauseously looking out the windows at the scenery so I wouldn't feel so disgusted. That's great!
My only negatives are some typos but none affect the flow and artistry of the writing style.
Full disclosure, I learned about this book because I've been a fan of May's YouTube channel since she had the talking skeleton. If you are a fan of NyxFears I would recommend reading this book. It is exactly in the realm of brutal that May would recommend on her channel.
Also, I have to mention that the GoodReads description includes that the writing is stream of consciousness, which is true but is so similar to how May talks in her videos, that you can read it in her voice. For me this was a huge benefit because I find her both so engaging (grossly engaging, affectionate?) and so fucking funny.

Fluids was actually an interesting listen. I like listening to gross stories because it creeps me out and I like the sinking feeling I get from it and I just was like "DAHLIA!!!!! RUN!!!!!!" the whole time and I just idk how to explain it was just an interesting story

Fluids by may leitz (spoiler warning)
I’m in love with horror and this one was almost up my alley but the extreme nature of this book I couldn’t really get through it (I’m a big baby lol) so instead I scraped the internet for spoilers and synopses of this book cuz I love the content that nix fears/may leitz makes!
I suggest if you like trucked up nasty stories with evil girls you should buy this with your dollars!!
Dahlia is lavender and Lauren is pink, I wanted to evoke the colors from the first edition cover. I love to draw shy girls and evil girls so this is a match made in hell, I feel like dahlia would wear lots of layers like jackets and blankets to cover up and letting her hair grow hella long cuz she doesn’t look at herself much :(
Also idk if they ever give each other presents but I like the idea that they swapped accessories when they finally got together cuz… 💅💅💅💅y’know
I listen and watch may’s stuff all the time, so as a tribute to evil murder lesbians that destroy themselves and each other, here is Lauren and Dahlia as I interpreted them! Dahlia makes me so sad, I want nothing but the best for her and I’m glad she made it out alive!!
Sorry for the ramble I just needed to get this off my chest and out of my system!!
