my mom directed sarah jessica parker in a production of “once upon a mattress” that sarah was winnifred in when she was like 14 and my mom was like 18 or 19 and in college. apparently she was extremely good even back then, very nice girl – drove from two or three towns over for rehearsals after school every damn day… my mom says sarah’s mom was not to be fucked with, though. like, not a stage mom, per se… but very, very dedicated to making sure her daughter got the career she deserved.

the end of this story is that twenty-odd years later my mom saw an ad for “sex and the city” on tv and was like “what the fuck”
