Finally the moment had arrived, the chance to redeem himself.
And the captain couldn’t have been more excited. Once allowed back into the Galactic Rangers he had been hoping for some galactic threat to tackle so he could slowly regain his former status as the galaxy’s greatest hero. Finally his wish was granted. For a few moments he watched through an open window as the massive machine tore Aleero city apart at a steady pace. If they didn’t act now everything was doomed.
Qwark was the first out the door, running straight for the chaos as the Rangers followed behind. But then he stopped before he even stepped foot outside the Hall of Hero’s perimeters. He had forgotten his blaster, not just any blaster, his lucky blaster. The one he brought during every mission, used in every battle, without it he feared he would fail. So without even saying a word to his teammates he turned and rushed back to the hall. The other Rangers, still carrying grudges against him, did not stop for him. No, instead hey continued on to handle the threat on their own.
“Blaster, hello? Where are you?” Copernicus was mostly speaking to himself as he entered the hall, eyes darting around to try and locate his weapon. While part of him was now regretting not letting it be added to the database he shook it off. He’d find it, he probably just left it in the conference room.
He’d only be in here a few minutes.
Just stepping foot into this miserable building brought back a slew of unpleasant memories. Being overworked and mistreated by his fellow Rangers. Being given a shabby closet as a workspace, supposedly due to “budget cuts.” Being naive enough to think joining the Rangers in the first place was worth it.
Nefarious came to an abrupt halt when he realized his feet were automatically taking him to his old closet office. Clenching his fists, he spun on his heel and pointedly headed the opposite way. Only to pause again at the sound of someone approaching from the adjacent hall. He couldn’t make out what they were saying, but the voice itself was unmistakable. It had to be Qwark.
Why did that nitwit always have to show up at the WORST possible -- wait. If Qwark was alone -- and the footsteps sounded like it -- this was the perfect opportunity to take him out! With a malicious grin, Nefarious summoned a Combuster to his hand and waited a moment. Then he leapt around the corner. “So, we meet a -- !”
Because of the ambient echo, he’d misjudged the direction of the footsteps. Which meant he was facing the wrong way. With an irritated growl, Nefarious spun around, trying to act like he hadn’t just messed up his dramatic entrance. “So! We meet again, Qwark!”
