Mel makes me very happy as a character cause she's clearly neurodivergent but it's never stated/ portrayed in a way that it's her only defining feature. Like yes, she regulates herself through lava lamp videos and repetitive affirmations, she doesn't get social cues, she has strong morals and ethics that she hates seeing disregarded, and she doesn't do well in situations with loud/ overwhelming sensory input, but she is still treated the same by everyone. No "she's the smartest doctor, she has a sort of superpower!" or "she's clearly wierd and heartless!", she's just Dr. King, a resident at PTMC like any other resident, who cares a lot abt her sister and has her own little traits that make her special.
