It’s just crazy how Hamas repeatedly rejecting ceasefire proposals and refusing to release the hostages is completely left out of the conversation with the “ceasefire now!” social media crowd.
A Hamas stan said the quiet part out loud last night at a fundraising event for Biden, and I’ve included some responses:
Anyway, the people like the one in the first tweet are functionally no different from Republicans. One of Trump’s main appeals has always been having him hurt groups who are considered the enemy. Cruelty is the point.
10/7 happened and that does not justify the indiscriminate bombing of civilians or mass starvation. both things are fucking bad!!!! pretending either is fake news is just absolutely fucking morally bankrupt and flat out evil!!! do not pretend you give a shit about other human beings if you deny these things happened/are happening!!!
I also thought that was a weak part of the documentary, but that was within the first 10 minutes. The documentary went on to reveal that Schneider was so misogynistic that one of the only two female writers on one of his shows filed a lawsuit for gender discrimination, one of the men working on set with kids was a pedophile who kept baggies of “mementos” from young girls and dreamed of raping a kid, and another man who worked on set repeatedly raped Drake Bell. These pedophiles went to prison. This documentary was not nothing but a conspiracy theory. This twitter user is a fucking liar to leave out this important information
This is part of a larger thread in which this user talks about tiktok and the degradation of critical thinking and blah blah blah, but none of that applies to a documentary that revealed that real pedophiles were working with children on Nickelodeon, and that a big time producer was misogynistic and abusive on set for years until Nickelodeon considered him enough of a liability to fire him. You’re not some critical thinker if you dismiss outrage over documented abuse as Qanon bullshit. I hate the internet.
@peterdyckmancampbell Jennette McCurdy was also as explicit as possible as she could be in her book about Schneider’s creepiness and misogyny and Nick’s complicity in continuing to employ him like it’s not even Just the documentary
Right! The documentary was only made because there had been talk of Schneider’s behavior for several years, and Nickelodeon wouldn’t have finally fired him if it had all been a big conspiracy theory. Ugh
It's clear that person didn't watch the whole documentary. as for me, i just read the news stories about the reactions and what have you
I was a fan of All That as a kid and even had a book, but it's clear Scheider should have been fired about 18 years before they fired him
How is there a reality show where Alan Cumming is basically a campy, eccentric, absurdly well dressed, murderous laird of a Scottish castle who gets to torment reality TV stars, and no one told me about it before? What are we even here for, Tumblr, if not to share information like this?

Rick Moranis: I was a big George Carlin fan. How could I not be? But there came a point where I saw him on a talk show, and he was reading off cards. I had a feeling I could look like him, so I did an impression of him reading off notes and telling lazy jokes.
Years went by and I was at an awards show. Across the aisle was Carlin, sitting there. We looked at each other, and he just said, “Brutal. Brutal, man. Brutal.” I sort of shrugged and gestured about how much I love him. But I never really met him.
Years later, after he passed away, I spoke to his daughter, Kelly. She wanted to use the SCTV clips in a show she was putting together. I told her, “Look, I want you to understand that, believe it or not, that was really done out of reverence.” She said, “No, you don’t understand. It had a profound effect on him. He wasn’t aware that he was really being lazy. He was unhappy and wasn’t doing the kind of work that he wanted to be doing. And your impression caused him to change his approach.” God, am I glad I spoke to her.
When people talk about a shorter workweek, I really need them to immediately explain their thinking for the amount of work in that week. Is it the same amount? And what is the timeline for it?
It’s such a crucial aspect of this and no one explains their plan for that part of it! If I am expected to do the same amount of work with 1) one less day available and 2) one less day available to everyone else I work with, what the expectation really is is “go fuck yourself.”
And I am not in any way saying that I would not be extremely pleased to work less. I love the idea. But people are not explaining their thinking and it pisses me off because it feels like they’re hiding that the expectation will be “Do the same but in less time.”
And I further suspect that that is the assumption because people have the idea in their heads that no one spends every current working minute working, but — and this is where it falls apart— they ALSO believe that people will magically start using their time more effectively with a shorter workweek because they have less of it available. And that is an extremely, extremely stupid assumption.
lol PLEASE don’t fall for the “they’re banning TikTok bc the Zionists are controlling the media and don’t want people to know the truth about Palestine!!” shit
My guys it’s literally a national security/international relations tiff between the US and China. The ban is fundamentally flawed—not because they’re oppressing “free speech”— but because the US wants to set a precedent to seize or ban Chinese companies. It’s sinophobia, absolutely, but acting like this is a free speech issue or an example of “Zionist” media control (just say Jews, your antisemitism is so obvious at this point) is laughable. US politicians going after TikTok has been ongoing for far longer than the current crisis in Palestine. The push to ban TikTok has its roots in the Trump administration, so there’s been political momentum for over 4 years now.
Social media companies are not venues for protected free speech! They’re profit-seeking corporations and don’t give a damn about free speech if it gets them money. You’re already censoring your speech on TikTok for fuck’s sake. If I have to see this one more post about “Zionists are controlling the media!” from someone that regularly types “unalive” instead of “kill” and has to put a 🐓emoji when they mean “cock” I’m gonna scream.
It's notable how much of Terminally Online leftist rhetoric is just clinical depression symptoms ("the world is doomed, nothing matters, nothing will ever change so there's no point in even trying, we all deserve to die"), and the hostility these people have to those of us who won't entertain their nihilism and untreated mental illness masquerading as politics.
A Manhattan school district voted in favor of a measure that could ban transgender girls from participating in girls sports.
whose fucking idea was this?
I think it's clear a lot of people think the Nazis were bad because they regard them as the ultimate cartoon villain, and not because they think genocide against Jews is bad.
To elaborate: you cannot separate Nazis wanting to murder every Jewish person on earth from them and their ideology. That wasn't a side job they did. That was an explicit part of their vision for paradise. Yes, they killed other groups (the Roma, gay people, disabled people) too, but the most extreme end point of Jew hatred was what it meant to be a Nazi. You are not against Nazis if you are also against Jews.
Why are the very same people who have been posting non-stop antisemitism for the past 5 months after immediately celebrating and defending a massacre against Jews acting outraged over JK Rowling engaging in Holocaust denial?
Because she’s one of the internet’s pre-approved villains (rightfully) and people know they’ll get brownie points for denouncing her, and that they’re supposed to be against bad guys like her. It’s not because they think antisemitism is bad.
Does anyone but me forget how to dress when the weather warms or cools with the seasons? I swear every spring and winter I'm like "how do clothes work?" And then I end up buying a bunch of new things because it doesn't seem like I have any clothes that match the temperature.
I need a computer program like Cher had in Clueless to remind me what my summer vs. winter outfits are.
