Your brain can’t process the information you’ve studied (so an all-nighter will most likely do more harm than help you succeed)
The quality of what you’re working on will go downhill if you don’t take breaks
It is bad for your health!
Go to bed on time and give your brain and your health a break. Take care of yourselves!
Just a note: some people, like me for example, are most productive during the night and we can’t help it, that’s how our brain works. I work best between 9pm and 4am. So glorifying waking up at 6 am and working all morning is the same lvl of crazy and unhealthy for us. (There’s also been several studies proving that morning school in my country up until university classes start at 8am, sometimes 7am is actually bad for kids’ brains.) Accept that different people have different brains and different peaks of productivity. Listen to your body.
Show me where I said that everyone has to wake up at 6am to work all morning. Oh. I didn’t. If you’d have read through the notes you’d have seen I already addressed this but I’ll do it again. Your brain needs enough hours of sleep. If you’re one of the people who crams the night before a test your brain is not able to process it.
In your REM stage of sleep is where your brain processes thoughts, memories and what you’ve studied. You can’t get to REM sleep until you’ve been through the other phases of sleep. If you stay awake until for example 3am to study for the test you have the next morning? Bad idea your brain will not be able to process it. (if you still don’t believe it ask your doctor bc this is what mine taught me so it’s supported by evidence.)

Btw I’m speaking from the personal experience of a 5 year long university student who did two separate majors at the same time for a couple of years and I guess everyone knows how REM works from elementary/high school?
