THE CURSED LANDS AU

(Some of the older art at the bottom); Where Mario & Luigi accidentally use a cursed super leaf that turns them fully into their tanooki & kitsune forms. Luigi has a larger ninetailed form he can go into for a short time and Mario able to transform into anything for a short time. Mainly just them going through a new place called the Cursed Lands based on the Spirit World in Asian folklore, filled with other yokai-like things and trying to figure out how to return to their human forms. Bowser also gets hit with the curse, making him into a komainu(fu dog) and he does Bowser-like things, lol. Ya’know causing trouble and being destructive. Not a lot of thought behind this, yet, haha. Just another little thing done for fun and because I super adore yokai and Asian folklore and wish Nintendo would make a Mario game more focused on that!

Obscure dialogue only seen when attempting to leave the room during the quiz event near the beginning of Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. As other such quiz events in other Mario RPG games do not even allow the player to attempt to leave the quiz area, many players would not even try seeing if there is any special dialogue associated with it.

its still so funny that they never remade PiT. like i dont like the remakes because they remove a lot of the charm the originals had with very few good additions; but its just kinda messed up they skipped over it and went right to BiS after Superstar Saga.

maybe its because of how dark PiT was compared to the other games, or maybe they didn't think it had that much continuity between Superstar Saga and BiS? i have no idea but its so weird to me.

@meghtymeteor I recently learned why they didn't put it the remake on the switch was because the switch was still new, and expensive, and more people had a 3DS than they did a switch!

#oh yeah they remade BIS in particular because alphadream was struggling at that point and BIS was the most popular of the series #so they were hoping a remake of it would sell really well but the fact it was released on a console that was becoming obsolete #(3DS when the switch was about to launch)#was a poor decision and it didn’t sell as well as expected as a result #hence why alphadream went bankrupt #idk why they didn’t put it on switch but i imagine they’d started it quite a bit earlier and remaking a DS game into a 3DS one #is probably a lot less costly/time extensive than figuring out how to put it on a console with only one screen #EDIT: oh the switch had already launched by the time the remake released. it had been out for over a year!

OOHOHOO regarding your Chargrin question in the notes of my doodle post... >:3c

The wings appear after Chargrin strikes down the, already weakened from the events of Brothership, Great Conductor and steals his energy for themself! A sort of mark to represent Chargrin going beyond the confines of a "powerful entity" to a "deity-like entity" mwahaha...

The crack, however, is something Chargrin obtains from the Bros a while before the final battle, a little reminder that despite how powerful he is, he can still be injured.

Chargrin does indeed have a final form though >;], BUT I am currently still cooking to make sure it turns out perfect! I wanna design something striking and memorable even if, theoretical gameplay-wise, said form would only appear for the final phase which lasts like 1 minute, perhaps even 1 minute 30 seconds at most, while Chargrin's health bar drains. He pulls out all the stops to try and take those pesky plumbers down with him.

OOOO!! THIS IS SO COOL!! COOKING AS USUAL HEHE… I’m so excited to see what his final form looks like, whenever you finish it! Thank you for the reply - I always love hearing about Chargrin TEEHEE >:]c
