Hiya, this might be a deep cut, but I have vague memory of you making a couple of Fiasco supplements awhile back but I can't seem to find them. Are those still available somewhere?

If not, I seem to remember there being a list of albums on the SciFi/Cyberpunk one you made and was wondering if you remember one the names of those were? I think I got the tune of one stuck in my head but I can't remember the name!

I‘m intrigued by the interpretation of Vampires as being akin to feral animals, as Van Helsing puts it; Creatures that can uncannily imitate human speech and interaction the way a parrot can, but otherwise has no real understanding of what it’s peddling. Hence the disconnect, and the constant relapse to basic, predictable instincts.

VH himself describes Dracula as having a “child’s” brain, and his success is owed to him being long-lived enough to learn and gather experience. But even then, he still defaults to the same old tactics of retreating when things go south to recuperate and strike again, and it’s that pattern that the protagonists figure out to defeat him.

Likewise, it’s why “Lucy” does little to react to or plan around the fact that others have found her vulnerable resting place, she’s driven like a mindless zombie that can occasionally remember and spit out the original’s words if need be. More akin to a parasitic presence that has taken over and impersonated the original, like The Thing. Keeping them in stasis in an undead state, pass the point of no return for physical death, but stopped before one’s spirit can actually move on.

Also, I love the subtle implication that Goncharov is somehow tangentially responsible for the fall of the Soviet Union in the movie.

I remember watching Goncharov years ago with my dad, and it has really stuck with me my whole life. Every character seems to have these big plans or ambitions and then there is Goncharov destroying them all for a goal even he can’t really articulate. Then everything comes together at the end to destroy him too. Like throughout the movie he seems like such an unstoppable force only for us to realize everything he did is what made his death inevitable. Really just an incredible movie.
