complaining about spoilers has become a very looked down thing for good reason but I do think there is a dimension of "the work isn't ruined if you know everything that happens but also the surprise of this particular element is a key part of the experience and intended as such by the author" that I wish people wouldn’t view as invalid

Trying to inject some positivity
Some bylers act like they want someone to be homophobic towards Will in the coming out scene, which makes me want to puke. Or they theorize who would be homophobic. That's not okay. No one in their group would be homophobic, idc. This group is made up exclusively of marginalized people. I've also seen them make bets on who would say a homophobic slur. They act like they want to see someone say something disgusting to a traumatized 16-year-old boy, it makes me sick.
Ehh Idk, anon, I get wanting to explore some realistic reactions in fandom. I don't think any of those characters would be a full-on hateful homophobe, but there's many layers of acceptance and being a part of one marginalized group does not mean you can't be ignorant toward others (or even your own group, really).
I actually think a smart part of Will's coming out speech was that his main fear was about well-meaning but shitty reactions of "concern" which would have been very historically accurate. Given the placement of when this scene happened in the story and the show's tone as a whole, I agree having someone be homophobic in canon would never work, but in fandom I don't see the problem of exploring a more realistic depiction.
This. This.

I do kind of see Will getting a little bit into basketball for Lucas. Like, yeah, Lucas definitely pursued the team more for safety than because of a genuine interest in the sport, but I'm sure he got to enjoy it and appreciate it on its own merits, and he keeps it up after high school. And Will sometimes goes to games with him, when they hang out, and it's fun, and it gets to where he can hold up his end of a conversation about it, and he'll watch it occasionally. And they both know which players he finds hot.
Max likes to tease him and pry out his crushes and the hot players, while Lucas lets him slowly open up about it. Will is more open about celebrities and guys he finds generally attractive or hot, but that’s to a point — he gets shy about ones he really likes. Max figures out those ones faster than Lucas, partly because of how they’ve been with him and partly because Lucas was busy in the court when Max catches Will staring at someone he hasn’t commented on before

Edit: In my head this is set on The Batman movie so there's no powers and this Clark is just a regular journalist.
When I thought abt Jax having some transness as a headcanon or subtext towards the beginning when I started watching TADC, the first idea that clicked for me was stealth transmasc Jax, and honestly that’s the headcanon I prefer still. Like, as a transmasc it just clicks easier for me to see him that way, and the way that would influence his actions more than it does thinking abt it w/ transfem Jax.
I was gonna say something but I got sidetracked by Hunter Romanillos so thanks a lot ig
