So first I just saw this similarity in the their words but it seems like even the shots are taken in similar way like the framing and close shots..woah anyways I know these parallels has been revisited lots of time but it just solidify how an actual one on one conversation breaks apart one but brings together the other..also the way Mike talks with them is pretty much the same way and doesn't exactly gives off ✨that's because she's my girlfriend, Will. we're friends. we're friends.✨ energy..

Obviously I've not included the important part of the conversation but what one could draw is that during his conv w El he makes up these nonexistent enemies who is trying to force them apart, clearly washing off the flaws of their entire relationship.. but with Will despite of having others who is at same status of Will aka a friend he actively draws in Will from others..

And it isn't like Mike isn't trying enough w El which was clearly shown by how he talks w her.. initially he reaches down to her saying he does know a thing or two abt bullying but El isn't there yet..then he looks up to her which was somehow even worse cos what El wants is someone who could see her as an equal rather than admiring her for her cool powers..

But w Will it's amazing the way they show that despite their differences both are in clear level with each other..like Will is literally kneeling on the floor yet Mike looks at him directly and he see them like a team..

Also the lighting, which many have mentioned earlier, like in his scene with El it's just so dark n gloomy kinda funeral vibes tbh, whereas with Will it's like bright n shining (they have made a point to do in every single one on one byler scenes)..

What I got to say finally is that when we really get down to the root of all these it's mostly abt how a person lives their life based on what is expected of them by others rather than following what their heart needs..

On my millionth rewatch of stranger things and how the actual FUCK did I miss this parallel????

The second I saw the light on his face and that goddamn projector I knew exactly what was being referenced—the S2 moment where we first learn of a the personality split that happens (aka to Will when he’s possessed)—

—that happens in associations with a missing right eye—

—and causes a “personality change?"

Looking at how many parallels there are even just in this teaser to the possession and tracking that happened with the connection between The Shadow Monster and Will in S2, including: Needles (to put Will to sleep)—

—dilated pupils, the tunnels, the possessed fall back—

—Even a sweaty (aka near heat just in case it goes south) Will being told to fight “again?”

MY guess is that Will thinks he's "spying" on Vecna, and the Party (Mike especially) thinks Will can be a "good" spy again—but Vecna is using to track the party / slowly possessing him and his friends think it’s just him being back in Hawkins spooking the hell out of him.

Especially with that “found you” at the end of the trailer?

It’s giving the exact same energy as when Will led the demodogs into the hospital and says “he made me do it, they upset him” in S2, down to Mike and Joyce being right next to him when its realized.

Especially with Will fully flashing back to how much The Shadow Monster hates fire in S2....and MIKE talking about a burn to start the trailer over Joyce's face?!

Oh yeah. Old plan no longer works energy coming in HOT.

Especially given we know the Will/One connection is strong af even end of S4, and this plan (sending people into the tunnels to burn him—aka the crawl?) is something Vecna is wise to now.

EVEN MORE SO now that we know Will is DEF feeling some type of way about passing his feelings off to El? Anything Will (and Mike in the wake of his “love” lie) plan(s) is going to backfire—and with how Vecna uses people’s emotional weaknesses against them, with full possessed technicolor to Will’s mind?

hey so, i feel like the spinoff books (specifically the dustin experiment and lucas on the line) aren't talked about enough in the byler community. i know they aren't technically fully canon but they're atleast a secondary type of canon. i'll use this post by @queerxqueen (author of The Dustin Experiment) as an example.

the books are canon unless proven not to be for the most part. i feel that what really does it for me is the fact that the authors of the book have to *adhere to the canon* of the show. i think this means a lot and i'll show you why (also does it not bring you immense joy that a FELLOW BYLER wrote that book):

all of THIS has been reviewed by folks at netflix and writers of the show. this is practically PROVEN to *adhere to the canon*. do you get what im getting at... so although the books are a whole different level of canon from the show.. its not necessarily wrong to take it as an extension of what we already know

meaning i can live happily and believe that mike actually did pry the phone from dustin and hogs it just to talk to his precious bbg william byers (without being a whole fuckload of wrong) :)
