Headcanon: How they take care of you when you're sick
Pierrot is worried ALL. THE. TIME. Sniffles? You’re dying. Coughing? It’s tuberculosis. Sneezing? Your soul is escaping your body.
He never leaves your side. He helps you sit up to drink water, pats your back if you choke on it, then forces you to lay back down for more rest. He carries you to the bathroom, stands behind you in the shower, and even washes your hair for you.
There is literally NOTHING he won’t do for you when you’re sick. Practically shaking and crying and wheezing if you even dare to tell him that he can take a break. Hell, he’ll hold the tissue while you blow your nose if you let him. (he might do it anyway)
If you die, he dies. So he MUST ensure you don’t die.
Don’t forget, Pierrot is an excellent chef too. So expect lots of healthy homemade healing meals. Like breakfast soup…and lunch soup…and dinner soup…and midnight snack soup.
He’s kinda afraid you’ll choke on anything more than soup. What if you cough while eating something solid and you stop breathing? What if you forget to swallow? What if you sneeze and choke? Too many risks. The answer: soup.
Do NOT expect homemade soup. He CAN’T cook. Don’t even think about asking for it. No. Bad. You don’t want food poisoning on top of being sick
However, he WILL go run around and get take out from wherever you want. He can’t cook, but he is useful to some degree. I know, it’s crazy
And yes, he will feed you little spoonfuls of the soup he obtained just for you, but he’ll roll his eyes while he does it. It’s all for dramatic effect though. Drama Queen and stuff yknow?
When little droplets spill down your chin, he wipes it up with a finger and licks it clean, humming to himself about how good his taste in soup is. Thank GOD you have him around to make good decisions for you
In that regard, don’t expect high quality care. He is confused by sickness and how someone is weak enough to allow themselves to get sick. But he will ask Doctor and Jester what to do with you.
Most of his ‘care’ for you will come in the form of him. Like, what else could make you feel better than being in his presence. Obviously. You thought medicine was gonna heal you? WRONG. It’s him.
Actually, the sicker you are, the more he is like, “Kitten, can you feel my forehead. I think I’m getting warm. My head hurts a little.” Initiate pouting.
Legend says, sometimes he knows when you’re sick before you notice. It’s like he can smell it on you. Something about your energy shifts and he picks up on it immediately.
You’re more tired, complaining about aches and pains, slower to respond in conversation. Then, when you sneeze seventeen times in one day, he knows it’s time. He’s prepared for this. He has all that he needs to take care of you.
Medicine? Check. Bandanges? Of course. Why? Just in case. Blankets? A few. Pillows? Him. It’s him. He’s the pillow. And of course, he has needles ready if necessary. (Just a little extra fun for him.)
Will force feed you medicine if he needs to. As your Doctor, he WILL ensure you get better. Don’t you worry for pretty little head off.
In fact, he insists you stay with him in his sickroom he made (just for you). Expect to be surrounded by spices, herbs, and lots of shiny…tools?
He might try to give you a sponge bath? But you can shower on your own. Don’t let him know that though, he will be sad. At least he doesn’t make you use a bed pan.
Overall, excellent at taking care of you and bringing you back to good health, but like…very unorthodox methods. Is it worth it? Only time will tell…
You are baby and Jester is daddy. He will care for you sweetly, tenderly, so you can feel better.
He worries over your health, but keeps it a secret. He hates accidentally making you panic. Instead, he will try to keep your spirits high, even if you are bedridden.
This includes him lying next to you, a book open on his lap, and you cuddled oh so nicely into his side as he reads you a book. He will let you choose the title or the genre and soothe you to sleep with his soft voice.
And when you’re sleeping he hums lullabies to you softly, though if you ask him about it, he’ll deny it. Though, he won’t deny that he pet your head and played with your hair all throughout your nap.
He watches you with a sharp eye. Even when he’s busy with other things at the circus, he’s keeping a close watch on you. If he senses that you’re trying to get out of bed, he appears out of nowhere and either helps you to where you’re trying to go or insists you lay back down so he can get whatever you need for you.
Overall, he’s very attentive and loves to perch beside you, posted up like a scarecrow while he watches you sleep. It’s his favorite part. You always look like an angel. (And secretly, he likes taking care of you when you’re sick because you’re vulnerable and you need him. He likes when you need him and he enjoys having all the control to help you get better.)
Actually worried? Usually, you are quite hardy and can handle a lot, so when you get sick, everything turns into how he can make you feel better.
A stickler for rules, especially at times like these. Don’t overexert yourself, get plenty of rest, drink lots of fluids, eat healthy foods, take your medicine. Every hour on the hour, he’ll be there to check on you and make sure you have everything you need.
He’ll check your temperature and be sure you’re not overheating during your fever. Even when you’re asleep he’ll lay a cool, wet cloth on your forehead to manage the heat causing sweat to bead along your hairline.
There is nothing left unfinished or half-assed when he’s in charge. Your trust is in him to bring you back to full health, and he’ll take that seriously—As he does with anything else.
Your health becomes top priority for him and he finds himself up most of the night, watching over you in case you need anything.
He’ll have a hard time sleeping at all during the entirety of your sickness. He’ll wake, sitting upright at every little moan in your sleep. He’ll peek at you and ask if you’re okay with every cough.
Overall, amazing service, very qualified, and the most caring you’ll ever see him.
