Not socialist in a “I won’t have to work” type of way but socialist in a “I’ll still be working but I won’t be worried I won’t make the rent” type of way. In a “billions won’t be hoarded by one person” type of way. In a “janitors, fast-food workers, child care workers, preschool teachers, hotel clerks, personal care and home health aides, and grocery store cashiers, will live comfortably” type of way. In a “the sick and elderly will be cared for” type of way. In a “no child should work” type of way.
I feel like the fanbase doesn’t talk about how funny it is that when Grace tries to remember if he’s ever had a wife he wonders “am I divorced? Gay?”
Like just. Man wakes up and doesn’t remember his own sexuality. It’s tragic on some level but I genuinely thought that was hilarious. Imagine Grace taking a moment to look up pictures of male celebrities to try and sus out whether he is, in fact, gay.
Ngl “isn’t actively aware of their own sexuality” is even MORE aroace evidence
Every time someone complain about how "this choice is not moral, if you chose it/did this in this videogame you are a terrible person!" my mind plays this on repeat

At first i was like: why the hell is this on tumblr?! And then it suddenly made sense...
This is incredible.
[Video description–
Justin J. Moore in a recording studio, in a TikTok video captioned "If other singers sang: Boulevard of Broken Dreams".
Justin adopts different voices for different lines of the song. Most lines are impressions of other singers, but there is a surprise vocal twist in the last part.
The singers (their photos and names appear in the top left as Justin sings each line in their voice):
James Blunt – "I walk a lonely road; the only one that I have ever known"
Billie Joe Armstrong (vocalist for Green Day) – "Don't know where it goes; but it's home to me, and I walk alone"
Charlie Puth – "Ha-ah, ha-ah, ha-ah"
Ed Sheeran – "I walk this empty street; on the Boulevard of Broken Dreams"
Owl City – "Where the city sleeps; and I'm the only one, and I walk alone"
John Mayer – "Ah-ah, ah-ah, I walk alone, I walk a–"
Jacob Collier – "My shadow's the only one that walks beside me"
Michael Bublé – "And my shallow heart's the only thing that's beating"
At this point, Justin says in a resigned tone: "Fine" (as though coerced into recording the next part) and then proceeds to sing a few more lines as though they were vocalized by a Groan Tube instead of a human singer. (The Groan Tube is a novelty toy that makes a distinctive noise, rather like a whiny groan, when tilted or flipped. A picture of a Groan Tube also appears in the top left of the video to accompany the groan-singing.) In this part of the video only nonsense syllables are being sung, not identifiable words. The video ends with Justin groaning for real ("Uagh!") before turning to the camera and saying in mock despair: "Free me!"

I’m going to reference a widely-used term in public education to explain why I think AI may be softening our brains
“Whoever is doing the thinking is doing the learning.”
By asking artificial intelligence to do tasks that otherwise take minimal brain function, you are literally sacrificing the neural pathways your brain has built in order to do that task.
Imagine a world in which AI suddenly disappears. All of the skills you left to AI would essentially need to be relearned. That would be far more inconvenient than just taking care of the task yourself.
“Whoever is doing the thinking is doing the learning.”
THIS.
It's not that using AI or machine learning to do specific tasks is inherently a bad thing, just because it's AI technology. It's that you can't offload your own learning and skills development to AI. You can offload rote tasks that aren't developing your skills, but you can't offload yourself. You end up just giving that away, and it costs far more to buy it back.
There's a great term called "Cognitive Debt," which basically represents the intellectual atrophy you get from not exercising your brain. Originally the phrase was used in Alzheimer's research to describe mental decline but it's crossed over into AI studies.

Your mind is a muscle.

the Knives Out filmmaking is fucking genius because it doesn't hide ANY of the murder mystery details that get revealed later on. The blood stain is ALWAYS on Marta's shoes. You can see Miles hand Duke his glass, take his gun and hide it. You see Blanc hand Helen the Klear. You hear the 'clangy clunk' of Jud hiding the flask in the first scene of Wicks's murder. You notice it all after it's revealed. It's not added in in the reveal scene. All of the clues are always there, you just DON'T SEE THEM. It just makes it feel so much more real.
How do people living in rural Northeast China stay warm in the harsh winter (Someone asked why they don’t just use electric blankets. A kang warms up the whole room when it's fired up, so you don’t need any other heating. An electric blanket only keeps the bed warm.
