five of swords
Five of swords: Describe a day where everything went wrong.
Well, there was that time when her ex-boyfriend... Ah, she didnât want to bring down the mood.Â
With a snap of her fingers and a smile, she thought of another time. âWell, once when I was younger and learning how to make crepes, they turned out all burnt and uneven!â She cringed at the image popping back in her head. âI worked really hard on them too! I made a mess out of the kitchen, but I wanted to impress my parents...â
She kept a smile on her face while telling this story, because every story had its happy ending, right?Â
âHowever, when I shamefully showed my dad, you know what he said? âSweets have to be made with a happy heart.â He also told me some funny stories about the first time he made food and I was instantly cheered up and motivated. So, taking that piece of advice and story, I practiced and practiced until I kept getting it right!âÂ
Laney grinned thinking back on those times. No one is born with the natural ability to bake or some other special talent. Even the pros have to start somewhere. It turns out that all it takes is hard work and love. âĄ
magician!
Magician: List 3 of your talents
âThree? Do I even have that many?â She mused to herself, pursing her lips to the side. âWell I can cook and bake.â Did those count as two? Cooking and baking were definitely different from each other, so she was going to count it.
âHm...I consider myself to be a decent gardener, but I have to give Cam props for that. Heâs the real talent, teehee~ Oh, and I learned everything I know about cooking and baking from my parents, so theyâre the ones that deserve that title.â Laney nods, satisfied with her answer.Â
First best is falling in love. Second best is being in love. Least best is falling out of love. But any of it is better than never having been in love.
Maya Angelou
Emperor
Emperor: Describe your relationship with your father
âMy dad? Heâs the best cook and best version of himself that he can be!â She beamed, her face lit up with pride and joy.Â
Sheâs heard it before, the snide remarks and rude comments about how odd he seemed to others, but she never let it faze her.Â
âHeâs the closest person to me and heâs always been there for me. My shoulder to cry on even when things seem at their worst. I can only hope to be the shoulder everyone can rely on just like him.â Laney sighs in content and closes her eyes. He was so strong both mentally and physically. Always saving the day with a smile on his face, her hero.
tower: what do you most want to change about yourself?
âHm...â She tapped her chin in thought. She liked herself enough to not want to change anything, but then she had to remind herself that there was always room for improvement! So, thatâs how she could answer. âI would like to become a better person and baker!âÂ
There was a saying that when someone hits rock bottom, thereâs only one way to go and that was up, but did anyone ever stop going up? No one was perfect and while it may be hard to accept that, there was always a chance to improve and be the better version of oneself than yesterday. Thatâs the way Laney looked at it anyway. The glass is half full type. Aiming up to soar through the sky during the daytime and to shoot for the stars during the nighttime.Â
A Whole New World
borkborksâ:
OFTEN, THEIR TRAVELS TAKE THEM TO THE WINDS. Where they go, who they will meet? Itâs a mystery even to Woofio, but they suppose things are not always without their cause. Still, he is sure many wonder what led him astray from the mountain path to where he remains now â perched on the precipice of changing history as it has been known, of revolutionizing all that has ever been learned about The Dogâą. Indeed, what grand journey they are about to embark on is one beyond the wildest imaginations of any mere mortal.
Beyond that of even his own, they add.
Wind blows, the hand-stitched flaps of the sails beneath his arms catch the breeze. Paws are secured about the branch, hind paws one in front of the other as he eases himself up off of the ledge. One, two. Slowly, steadily, the dog mascot eases himself onto a sturdy branch jutting out of the rock face. They are at the edge and about to stand when a soft voice calls out. Head turns slowly in the otherâs direction, paws secured about the branch now. The frisbee atop his head wobbles.
âYes, woof. Iâm fine.â He turns away again, changing from his crouch to a stand. Arms are at his side. The branch shakes beneath his feet. âIâm about to meet my destiny, woof.â
O-Oh... So, he also says...âwoofâ in that costume of his. Was this what the Internet called a furry? Quickly, she looked over both shoulders to see if someone was recording this. What kind of stunt was this...What was he pulling?
Laney watches as he steadies himself on a thick branch jutting off from the cliffâs edge. The branch didnât seem to move, but it was thick enough for one foot (or paw) at a time, like walking a tightrope with no harness.Â
His explanation didnât put her nerves at ease either. If anything, they worried her more. His ambiguous goal didnât sound too positive or uplifting and made her stomach churn.Â
âY-Your destiny? But...Wonât you get hurt?â Or worse, but she didnât want to think about that! âI-Itâs not safe there!â She protests once more as if it werenât already implied. She began to move closer to the ledge, despite feeling herself get dizzy, her knees growing weak, and her palms sweaty. She wouldnât let him do this though!Â
A Loaf off my Back || Reina and Laney
flower-of-konohanaâ:
Reina heard a small set of footsteps coming towards her and was greeted with a friendly server. The woman seemed friendly at least. Werenât all servers friendly? Reina heard that was just a myth and that in reality servers often talked about customers behind her back.
She wasnât a fan of that concept. Multiple people already talked about her weird plant habits, so sheâd rather not stand out as a bad customer. She always tried to be the best customer she could be.
âHello. Iâm looking for something to peck at. Maybe a small platter of breads, cheese, and fruits if you happen to have one? And some tea if possible.â Reina replied with a gentle nod.
âI didnât see a menu, my apologies if I missed it on the way in.â
Laney let out a little laugh at her apology.Â
âNo need to apologize. Here, have a seat.â She gave a warm smile and gestured to one of the tables.Â
There was a menu that displayed specials on the wall behind the counter, but she gave customers menus if they wanted it as well. Laney moved behind the counter and grabbed one of the plastic covered covers before handing one to the woman.Â
âSo, you said tea, bread, cheese, and fruit? Any preference for tea?â In her hand, she had a notepad and pen and she wrote down the order she remembered from the top of her head.Â
Lunch Date || Georgia & Laney
downsouthpeachesâ
âHi!! Howâve ya been~?â Once she was within a few feet of the blonde, Georgia quickly rushes across the rest of the distance to wrap her arms around the other girl in a warm hug. It was a bit awkward, what with her holding the picnic basket and all, but she managed to make it work. For Laney, she always would.
Truth be told, Georgia was⊠more than a little nervous about today, since this would be their first time eating a lunch that the rancher made herself. Her dad would always have her preparing dinner at home, but that was usually limited to easy things like riceballs, or foods she cooked so much that she had no problem making now⊠like curry, or stews.Â
But this was lunch food, and more importantly, it was Laney. Georgia wanted to show her that all their lessons hadnât been in vain, and that sheâd actually learned from them. She wanted to impress her, and feel the joy of seeing a smile break out across her face once she took a bite out of the food Georgia had made on her own.Â
âU-um, thanksâŠâ She accepts the comment a bit nervously, her grip around the basket handle tightening as they head to the cafe. âIâm sure the drinks are gonna be out of this world, since you and your dad made âem.â
âIâve been well! You?â Laney hugged Georgia back despite a little bit of awkwardness with the picnic basket the redhead was holding. It came as no surprise to Laney at this point. She was someone who always accepted hugs, especially from her best friend!Â
More than anything, she was excited to see what Georgia had prepared. She knew her best friend wasnât the best cook around (that was her dad obviously!), but she always strives for improvement and that was one of the many things the blonde appreciated.Â
Even though she says that love is the secret ingredient, a little practice doesnât hurt! Everyone starts somewhere and there was always room for improvement. Even she was making messes, burning things, and making uneven consistency desserts at a certain point.Â
When the redhead hypes up the drinks, she couldnât help but chuckle a little and blush.
âO-Oh, gee...Gigi itâs nothing really hehe.â Flavored water at best. Though, they tasted a lot better than how she just described them. Sometimes, they even had a milk base. âLetâs go eat though! How have things been at the shop?â

Melodic || Pia and Laney
@fishysecret
Even though baking and cooking was her number one hobby, Laney did have a life outside of the cafe. Although she enjoyed the time she received with friends and family, she also cherished a little solitude. On her days off, when she wasnât hanging out with friends, she would go somewhere alone to take in the silence or play her harp.
It wasnât a secret that she liked to play instruments, but it wasnât something that she bragged about either. She saw it as a form of leisure and way to unwind without the presence of others.Â
Today, she found a spot in the meadows where the breeze was nice and it was not a long ways from the water. She could see the shoreline from where she was sitting. Laney always found the scenery she was sitting in to be inspiring.Â
Her hands reached over and plucked a few of the strings to make sure it was in tune. Humming a little, she closed her eyes and began playing a simple melody to get warmed up.Â
Hot Milk for your Sins
@goldenxlia
The best part of her day was working at the cafe. The sweet aroma of freshly made bread and divine sweets greeted the customerâs nose right as the door opened. It was also nice to have such a welcoming environment. The staff was friendly, the pay was decent, and it was her dream job. Well, almost. She has hope in the future to open her own cafe that was this charming.
When the customer walked in, Laney already had a menu in hand and was ready to tend to the customerâs needs. She could tell this person was from out of town just by her appearance. Striking hot pink hair and golden eyes similar to her best friend. Looks aside, she would treat this person no different than the rest of her usual customers.Â
âHi, How are you today? My dad recommended the hot milk, but is there something else you want?â She smiled softly and handed the woman with the loud hair a menu.Â
A Whole New World
@borkborks
When Laney did travel, it was mostly for business, but it wasnât like her to not visit the attractions and natural scenery the town had to offer. Her dad was handling the business part of the trip, she just liked to accompany him so he wouldnât feel so lonely.Â
After confirming her father was okay and had the situation handled, she headed someplace quiet. It was a nice place to clear her thoughts clear, especially with such nice weather. She had reached a nice field full of flowers and plants and a gentle breeze that passed through. She was mindlessly wandering about and humming softly to herself when she spotted a figure not too far away from her. Â
âOh, pardon me, I thought I was alone for a second.â She walked closer, only to stop at the sight of something peculiar. A dog suit? Was he an entertainer for little children? That had to be the case, right? If it wasnât... Donât judge, Laney.Â
âUh..A-Are you okay? Youâre kind of close to the cliff there...â She called out to the...dog suited figure, hesitantly.Â
Extraineous || Mikhail and Laney
@heartstringsonnet
It was near closing time and most of the cleaning up inside had been done. Today was a particularly good day for the cafeâs sales. Lots of new faces and happy customers. If they were satisfied, then she was happy.Â
As the day had come down to a close, it began to pour. At first, it was just a little drizzle, still Laney told all the customers to be careful on their way out. Even if she would never see them, it was always her duty to be kind and courteous. It would be a shame if anything were to happen to one of her customers or someone in general.Â
There was a ledge and porch right outside the cafe that Laney liked to keep clean, no matter the weather. If it was clean today, it was one less thing to do the next day. Although despite this, she tried to make sure it was still a chore that was completed daily.
She grabbed a broom and and started sweeping, but in the midst of her chore, she spotted someone in the rain, their back towards her. She wouldnât be as concerned, but they were just standing out there with no umbrella!
So, she put her broom aside, and grabbed her umbrella, popped it open and began to walk towards the stranger. Upon closer inspection, she had never seen this person before, but regardless, she was still worried and concerned for his well-being.Â
She cleared her throat and reached out to tap him on the shoulder. âSir? Youâre a little wet--â Ah, double entendre... âI-I mean! Uh, youâll get sick!â
Happy Sunshine Sunday Cece!
