My Thoughts and Opinions on the Supernatural Series Finale
Because its only fitting to do so here.
Also if it wasn’t already clear, theres gonna be spoilers, so read at your own risk.
Ok this is gonna be a mess of things, cause I’ve only just stopped SOBBING, so please do try and keep up.
First thing, I have seen a lot of people mad about not only Cas’ ending but Dean’s as well. And while I sort of agree with them about Cas, I personally think both Sam and Dean’s ending were perfect, if missing one certain person. Since the beginning of the show all Sam has ever wanted is to be able to live at least close to normal and have a family and everything. Dean on the other hand, never saw that for himself, and if ya wanna say that is because of his childhood, I would agree with you, but as we saw in the beginning of season 6 (I think thats when he had his thing with Lisa at least) that that was not something that made Dean as happy as he could have been. He never saw it in his cards to have that happy apple pie life, with the whole white picket fence shit, that was always Sam’s schtick. Dean always saw his life ending in the way he was raised, by saving people, dying doing something he loved and saw as his purpose. We got to see this, him happy in heaven with his family AND CAS. NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE SAYS, WHEN BOBBY SAID “Don’t worry, he’ll be here.” OR WHATEVER IM GONNA ASSUME HE MEANT CAS. No one can stop me. Andddd we got to see Sam finally have kids and be happy and die old, that was beautiful and perfect.
Now while I think all of this is great, and I personally really liked the ending and thought it was beautiful, I do think there is loads of room for improvement. Majorly, the whole Cas, Dean, Destiel thing. While I get why they didn’t include him in the last scene, I do think it was a mistake. I totally get that they wanted only the brothers to be there together and no one else, cause he started with only them. Makes a lot of sense. But as they themselves said in the Long Road Home thing, Cas was the third brother. I feel like it would have been a lot better if Dean had his talk with Bobby and everything then when they were done, Cas could have appeared and they could’ve had their moment (maybe even dare I say a kiss). Then they could have driven off together and Cas could have stayed in the car cause he obviously would have known Sam was dying, he is and angel after all. Then they would have gotten there last shot of the two brothers and only the two brothers, but they also would have given us GREAT destiel content in the whole ending montage thing.
Anyways, I totally get the poetic thing they were going for in the episode, having only the two brothers, and the closest person to an actual father to them, being the only people in the episode. But I will forever be disappointed that they didn’t include Cas, cause I think he at least deserved that much, if they didn’t mention him like they did I would have been livid trust me. Overall, I think the ending was way better emotionally (it wasn’t an unhappy ending, the most surprising thing of 2020 by far) than all of us thought. It was well written and well thought out but they could have definitely made that last leap with destiel in the end. Would have made it the slowest of burns.
Lastly, just wanted to say thanks, never gonna forgot ya Supernatural.
P.S. I was so confused when Jack didn’t bring Cas back right away and I’m glad they said that he was rebuilding heaven with Jack, that made sooooo much more sense.
