I’ll start off by saying that ZapCreatives is wonderful to work with and I generally have really pleasant experiences when working with the staff. I’ve stuck with them for 2 years now because of this and have printed over 100 designs with them over these years.
But they are not without their...
I’ve already screamed about my experience to Fii (and to others lmao) about my experience with zaps many times, but I figure I should do a quick write up of what I went through with them as well.
Like, Fii, I had actually used zaps a few times before I had one specific problematic order that really made me never want to order from them again.
Previous to this particular order, I had only ordered their opaque charms, so I never had experience with the clear charms. That being said, I had no idea that I was supposed to reverse the charms. When reading the tutorials, they mention a reversal but I figured that that applied to double sided charms and since I only had one side, I didn’t think I would need to reverse it. That was definitely my mistake. I guess I missed somewhere in the instructions that it was supposed to be reverse for single sided charms. I didn’t realize my mistake until I got my order. I placed this order on September 29th and got the first run on Oct 10, which was really fast!
Out of the 8 charms I printed, I was lucky that I would only really /have/ to reverse 5 of them (because of letters on their shirt, moles, hair parting etc) so I paid the extra money and ran a reprint. Before even sending out the money, I made sure to ask the sales rep if it was possible to get the charms by the 20th since I had to get them to a friend who was going to take them to Japan for me. The sales rep told me that as long as I paid for the expedited shipping, “it should be fine”. I paid for the charms and the expensive expedited shipping (since its from UK -> US), 4 days passed and it was Oct 14, I wanted to check if they had finished making the charms since the expedited shipping still takes about 3-5 days and I was aware that production did take a few days as well. But when I emailed them, I got: “Production does generally take around 5 working days making a estimated dispatch date of 20th October. I do know that you are hoping to get these charms for this date and have made the production team aware and they will do there best to try and move your order up. However please note that we cannot guarantee this.” I was pretty mad. The rep pretty much made it sound like I should have known that it wouldn’t make it on time and that they could no longer promise that I would get it on this date. I guess it was naive of me to assume that “it should be fine” meant “yes” but still, I felt pretty betrayed. But! I didn’t want to cause any problems, afterall, what could I do? So I just waited for my charms.
Oct 23, I got my second set of charms. At this point, my friend had already left to Japan and I just wanted to get the charms shipped out as soon as possible since there was a preorder. I was happy to have them and be done with it but when I peeled the protective sticker, almost all of the charms were off center or even cut off at parts.

Also, when I asked for the reprint, I realized a hole was missing on one of my charms so I had fixed that file, reversed the rest of the charms, and sent them new psds. They completely ignored the new psds and printed from the old ones (which they reversed themselves). However, they did not inform me of this before or after printing so I had to send them yet another email in regards to the files and also in regards to the awful cutting I got in this set.
Instead of offering to just reprint the set, the rep asked me to count out how many were not printed correctly (for some designs it was every single one) so I had to go and peel them all, count them, then give her the total of how many were misprinted. The sales rep told me that the production team would be working on my reprints soon, that was Oct 27.
November 4, I got my 3rd set of charms. Every single charm was double sided. I don’t know if they were trying to do me a service or if it was a mistake but they sent me a batch of charms that were double sided. This was an issue because 1. only 5/8 charms were now double sided 2. the reason why I had to reprint them in the first place was that they were reversed and now the image is reversed on the back. I send another email, explaining the new problem and even confessing to the sales rep that I was pretty frustrated and also explaining why I couldn’t just keep them like that. The sales rep then told me that she had spoken to her manager and that he required photographic evidence so I obliged and sent this photo:
The response to this photo was this:”Thank you for your reply. Thank you for sending in a picture but we did request that all of the charms you are not happy with were in the picture and not just four of two the designs we are replacing. Please understand that this is a common procedure within any business when offering replacements or refunds. This is so that we can see all the problems.”
At this point, I was really mad. Previously, I had sent them a photo with only 3 defects and it was fine but now it’s not okay anymore?? Suddenly I have to take a picture of all the charms that were wrong when it was EVERY SINGLE ONE? Isn’t this obviously a problem? Why did I have to prove it?? I would even understand if they wanted me to prove the time before this one but this one is so obviously wrong that it didn’t make any sense. And the icing of the cake was that they wanted me to send them all back. I didn’t mind sending them back (I couldn’t use them anyway) but I was not going to be paying anymore money. I was ticked, I started ranting about it on twitter and GUESS WHAT, the zaps twitter REPLIED to my tweet and told me to email them. I ignored the tweet, I was already talking to the sales rep and it seemed unprofessional (even for me) to be like “Hey so you tweeted me to email you-”.
So I asked the sales rep to let me speak to her manager. The manager’s first email ended with: “I will arrange for our Director to contact you, although I believe he has already requested you to do so via Twitter“. I couldn’t believe that he even had the audacity to tell me that he had already requested me to do so via twitter?? that means that he KNEW who I was by reading my tweets (since none of my photos of the keychains were there nor nay association to my email or real name). He KNEW who I was, he KNEW my situation, he REQUESTED ME TO EMAIL HIM VIA TWITTER. my question was why didn’t he email me himself?? Even then, when I was talking to the manager, why wasn’t the director, who will reach out to me on twitter, not willing to email me if he knew my situation and knew who I was?? Regardless, it didn’t look like he would be sending me an email anytime soon so I emailed him.
So I started talking to the director and we were trying to schedule a pick up date for fedex so that they could take my charms, inspect them, and then replace them. It was November 6th. I didn’t know when my charms would be coming, I had already paid almost triple the original cost that I planned to pay and I still had people who preordered in Sept waiting for charms. Now it would take even longer for me to get them since fed ex->uk:examine charms>make charms->me.
After a few more exchange of emails and me pretty much pleading to just have them in as soon as possible (in these emails we were going back and forth about scheduling a time for pick up etcetc), he finally just said, forget it and said that they would send me new charms asap.
I think (it could have been a few days earlier) I got my charms on November 20th. I ordered them initially Sept 29th. It took me 2 months, more than double the cost, and a world of headaches to finally get the charms.
in any case, yah so I’m never ordering from them again ^q^;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; And though Fii might advise other people to order with them, I honestly wouldn’t wish this kind of experience on any of my friends. Then again, I do have friends who still print with them and have perfectly fine experiences so I suppose to each their own!
