Vienna, Austria-based artist Bogi Fabian uses glow-in-the-dark and black light-reactive paints to transform rooms into otherworldly getaways in distant galaxies, jungles, caves or underwater. While some of Fabian’s murals are partially visible when the lights are on, the walls and floors of some of her painted rooms appear completely blank until the lights go out. In the dark the walls and floors come alive with dreamy glowing colors.

“I am trying to create dreamful atmospheres, paint walls and floors and manage to enlighten my art with and without a source of energy.

Thus, the spectator can experience the result in the daylight as well as in the dark, and in that way enjoy it in all its facets. My goal is to create unique spaces and rooms giving them an identity and a soul, where relaxing and living become an experience.”

Tumblr, Hawai’i needs your support now more than ever.

Mauna Kea, one of our most sacred mountains, is under attack. Since the 70′s, telescopes have been built on its summit, destroying the ecosystem and sacred sites. Right now, there are 13 telescopes, and now, certain people want to build another one. Except this one will be 30 meters (98+ ft.) tall, and costing over $1.4 billion. Because of the mountain’s unstable surface, construction workers for the other telescopes have had to basically blow up certain areas and smooth it out to make it more stable. Mauna Kea is already over 40 feet (12 m) lower than before construction.

Even though many people were arrested after a series of peaceful protests, we are still fighting. Mauna Kea is sacred to our people, and it is not theirs to build on. This land is ancient and sacred, and it does not belong to the United States, or the State of Hawai’i.

Dwemer metalwork doesn’t tend to have organic shapes like this from what I’ve seen but it’s still pretty cool.

for anyone interested in their real origins, these are ‘nail totems’ by Leanne Helin who is a First Nations native woman of Tsimshian descent. She is an artist in the Northwest who hand-engraves these pieces and her work is beautiful. These are available for purchase and her gallery is here.  Support First Nations businesses!

Objective lens used by Galileo for many observations in 1609-1610. In 1677, the Medici commissioned Vittorio Crosten to build the ebony frame in which the lens has since been preserved.
