Define “ought.” Are you suggesting that there exists a supernatural rule, independent of human convention, which states that the strong should protect the weak? Or, rather, are you asking people to reblog if they simply hold that to be true from their personal moral beliefs? In short: what would the origin of this maxim be?

Both. I’m not looking for the origin here, just the result. Of course, if you’re asking about my personal beliefs, I am religious and do believe that helping those less fortunate is something that all human beings ought to do.

Whenever I make an argument for gun control there’s always that one person with the superhero complex that says “yeah but if I had my gun I could take out the shooter” but like……. Where you at? Like give me one example of when this logic has actually proven to work.

Two men with shotguns come in to rob store. Man defends himself.

Man is kicked out of bar. Comes back with a shotgun. Fires twice before being shot by a man with a handgun.

Man points gun at back of shopkeeper’s in attempted mugging. Man defends himself.

Handgun prevents a mass shooting at a restaurant.

Man pulls up to carrier, points a gun, and demands money. Man defends himself.

Woman delivers pizza. Two men attempt to mug and carjack her. She defends herself.

Man attempts to rob convenience store. Points a gun at clerk’s face. Clerk wants none of that and shoots at robber.

Man tries to break down woman’s bedroom door with a hammer and she defends herself.

Pregnant woman shoots her boyfriend’s friend after they broke down her door following a domestic dispute.

Guys try to mug woman at gunpoint. Woman defends herself.

Home intruder immediately runs when he sees 14 year old with a rifle.

Two robbers enter store and shoot at clerk. He shoots back.

Man gets in fight at barber shop and pulls a gun. Customer pulls his gun and shot a little better.

Three armed robbers crash a van through the front of a store. Owner opens fire.

Two armed robbers try and hold up an internet cafe. Flee when customer fires at them.

Uber drive stops mass shooting.

Here and here are filled with even more stories.

People “going superhero” and taking out an attacker is actually extremely common, unless the shooter tries to shoot up a school or movie theater because whoops good guy with a gun in a gun free zone is just a guy.

Clinton’s destruction of classified files legally disqualifies her from ever holding office

Before we get to the legal statute, let’s review a couple of facts.

#1 Hillary Clinton did receive classified information on her secret email server. #2 Hillary Clinton wiped that server clean before handing it over to the FBI. We know this because her lawyer admitted it.

Now, here’s the legal statute governing the destruction of classified materials:

Title 18. Section 2071.

Whoever willfully and unlawfully conceals, removes, mutilates, obliterates, or destroys, or attempts to do so, or, with intent to do so takes and carries away any record, proceeding, map, book, paper, document, or other thing, filed or deposited with any clerk or officer of any court of the United States, or in any public office, or with any judicial or public officer of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.

Whoever, having the custody of any such record, proceeding, map, book, document, paper, or other thing, willfully and unlawfully conceals, removes, mutilates, obliterates, falsifies, or destroys the same, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both; and shall forfeit his office and be disqualified from holding any office under the United States. As used in this subsection, the term “office” does not include the office held by any person as a retired officer of the Armed Forces of the United States.

There isn’t any wiggle room in that statute. The only way Hillary Clinton survives this (legally anyway) is that the Inspector General’s findings just turn out to be wrong. The likelihood of that being the case is almost 0. This is the same guy who investigated and secured the conviction of General David Petraeus.

Now, Hillary being a Clinton, and Obama being Obama, and Loretta Lynch being Loretta Lynch…anything could happen. But we already know the legal side of this. Hillary Clinton may not hold office, including the Presidency. Any other outcome is lawless.
