How is colour made?
What are warm and cool colours?
What are some of the effects of colour in our world, our experiences?
How do we choose colours? (think about fashion, interior decor, advertising, emotion, gender, religion, painting… or whatever)

This viral “dress” may seem like esoteric information, but this is a familiar example of just how confusing the apprehension of colour can be. What colours do you see the dress to be? Have you ever wondered if you how perceived the world was the same as others? I remember ruminating on this as a small child. How much is the way we see our individual physiology, or our cultural context, or, the context of the thing we are seeing? The light passing over it, reflection, what colour the thing is next to etc. What about the imaging technology this dress passed through… (I think it was photographed with a flash)…?
A little practical experiment you could do could be to photograph a couple of different white surfaces in your home with the lights on, or daylight, flash on, zooming in and out. The white surface is inherently unchanged - it is the same surface - but our perception of it transformed by the technology we used to capture it and the context or environment it is in.
I saw the dress as black and blue, however I work in a clothing store, so I see how light can change the color of clothing all the time. If the light is bright enough, or hits it at a certain angle the color can change drastically from the original tone or hue.
The artist has spent her career using abstract and figurative images to tell enigmatic stories. But a recent work has made her an incendiary figure.
Dana’s work caught my eye from the powerpoint, especially the second piece! I think this article is a really interesting expression of her, how her anxiety & sleeplessness pushed her to make racial and political paintings that are amazing. Read this if you get the chance :)
This way actually very controversial

Opaque and Transparent Painting, the only picture I have
Hi all :D
So, I’m almost done with my painting. I’m not sure what color to paint the background.
I loved doing this painting, not sure if I started it correctly because obviously I don’t have the technique, but little by little I started getting the hang of it. The hardest part for me was blending the paint to transition from the dark purples to the yellow.
Hope y'all like it.
WOW I LOVE 😍
I love the blending, it’s very Cezanne-like!
Wow, just simply amazing.
Nice progression🔥🔥🔥

This piece is titled U.A. Walker, New York by Hiroshi Sugimoto. It is a silver gelatin print and was made in 1978. Many of Sugimoto’s works are black and white photography that creates an mysterious and ominous mood. I believe he is able to achieve this because of the heavy contrast between deep black shadows and bright white light. Another reason the mood is unsettling is because there are no people in the image, just an empty theater. Almost feels like a horror movie before the antagonist pops out.
