Yveltal1151 - Upgrade 2 - Fancontroller, Flexlights and new Intake
Quick Update :)
I got my Aerocool Touch 2100 Fancontroller, Phobya Flexlights and bequiet PureWings2 (140mm) today.
Also: You can clearly see that LED I hooked up last time :D
Yveltal 1151 - Upgrade 1 - LED Fans
It’s time for the first upgrade! I bought 3 Aerocool Shark devil red edition LED fans (120mm, 3pin molex)
I also bought a cheap splittercable, so that I could connect the two fans going into the top into CHA_FAN2...which didn’t work properly, because it’s not enough amps. I’m leaving it like that for now though, because the fan is spinning at least a bit and it definitly does provide awesome LED lighting like its sisters.
That last pic shows all of the accessoiries that came witht he fans. 3pin-to-molex, extension cable, mounting screws and mounting rubber thingies-that-i-dont-like.
I also bought 12 silver screws like those mounting screws, because I tend to destroy those a lot, because it does need a lot of force to mount fans properly. I also had the 4 screws from my old fan and I ended up with 4 broken screws. Worked out, I guess.
There we go! They are built in and while doing that I also took out the outer fan of my massive CPU cooler and remounted the static pressure one to exhaust into the direction of the new rear fan, so I now have proper airflow! Also I mounted the PSU properly now, so I took out the L-bracket that blocked 2 SATA-Slots. Now I could connect that awesome case LED (that actually isn’t visible on any picture...duh). If I end up wiring up my old HDD I’ll probably also switch that splitter cable for an extension cable and connect one of the fans via molex-power (which is what my case LED also uses)
So what gives? Nice LEDs only? Nope! In addition to proper air flow my cpu now also is 2-7°C cooler (idle can go down to 16°C now, 100% load went from 52°C on core 1 to no core ever going over 45°C).
The air that comes out of the case now is very cool, which will be awesome next summer I guess :D

Yveltal1151 PC Build - Day 1&2 - Building and Setup [3/3]
After finishing the build (I just had to put the board into the case, do proper cable management and re-install the GPU) I set to the lab! Actually my mom’s office, but whatever, I wanted to use Ethernet at least for the setup.
DAY 2: Yet another struggle! The L-bracket to hold the PSU in place actually covered up the space for the clips on 2 of my 3 SATA-Power slots, so I could only use 1 cable with 4 outputs. In the end I settled on putting the DVD-Burner in the lowest slot, which I really don’t care about, because it enables better cable management due to only using 1 cable for 3 hardware parts! Onto the windows installing...which went by very fast. SSD <3<3
The picture is from my first stress test with actually not exhaust fans, because I thought the cpu cooler would more then sufficiently work for that, but I didn’t know I had it in reverse at that point. Still 50°C under full load is very good!
As I still had that random fan around, that I pulled out of the rear slot in my case, I decided to put it into the top-back slot so to cool the cpu heatsink even more.
There it is, back in its case for now. My plan actually worked out and I got from 50°C to 40°C just by putting that fan back. So next step: Overclocking. Now here’s my result: 1.25V, 45x100 BCLK. It’s actually 1.28V while on load, but it runs stable at this crazy speeds, that is 1000MHz over the stock clock speed. From what I’ve read on the laptop while doing longer stress tests on the PC, my chip is actually a really really good one. Silicon Lottery considered won!
Here’s a picture of the last stress test with my final settings:
Back to 50°C, which is still awesome, but now we’re rocking 4.5GHz on this baby!
After that I did a longer 4hour stresstest on aida64 and another 4 hour one on Asus Realbench, both passed and I had already downloaded most of my software on the laptop and actually had a lot of free time on day 2.
Plans for the future: The next thing on the list is fixing that cpu cooler (it’s still wrong...I’m just that lazy at this point) and putting in 3 brand new Aerocool Shark Fan Devil Red Edition - Transparent Black Red LED (120x120x25mm) 1 in the rear slot and two in the top. I even bought a Y-Splitter cable so I can run the two top fans in one slot. I’m going to change the front intake to CHA1_FAN and decide where to put the rear and top according to motherboard layout. I also deconstructed my old prebuilt machine and put my old 1TB HDD into the 3.5″ bay already, maybe I’ll try installing it soon, I can get back some more data, if that drive still works. I might also built an ITX machine with the parts from my old PC (Still have RAM, i5-2500 + stock cooler and my trust AMD Radeon HD 6870!). Sadly I’m kinda broke now, (Michelle stop buying Pokemon cards...goddamnit) so that ITX build will have to wait a bit, if I don’t end up selling just the parts. I also started on my rainmeter setup. I love Rainmeter, even used it on my old laptop, just to casually watch that poor i3 thermal throttle like hell, without knowing what’s going on I guess...of course this time with a black/red-Yveltal Theme in mind :)
Yveltal1151 PC Build - Day 1&2 - Building and Setup [2/3]
After watching so many build logs, putting the cpu into the socket was a no-brainer done in a minute, but I still made a picture of it, because honestly, the motherboard alone just deserves at least one picture without that annoying black plastic cover~
Now comes the most awkward part: That huge CPU cooler. As much as I love that monster, I do hate installing it. I had no experience building a PC and on the 1151 socket (1150 layout) I did indeed need a backplate, which made it quite hard for the first time. I actually remembered to do cross-pattern when fixing it, even though I really didn’t put much pressure on it, due to how awkward it is to work with that little wrench with that huge VRM heatsink in the way.
I put in the RAM after that, just so I could do something easy after that and then took this picture. At this point I already put one hour into the build and not just because I was admiring the beautiful hardware all the time °J°
And what do you do, before putting everything into the case? Right! Does she post?
Does post! And I also got a look at the awesome BIOS Asus put on this board. Matches the hardware very nicely and even has USB mouse support! Also in this screenshot: I put in the front case fan, that huge 200mm LED monster in the CHA3_FAN slot. This is subject to change still, as the first upgrade will be focused around going fullblast on cooling with more shiny LEDs c:
Yveltal1151 PC Build - Day 1&2 - Building and Setup [1/3]
So, it has actually been quite a while now (about a week?) since I built my PC. The only real struggle I had was the cpu cooler and I even managed to overlook the fact that I put the cooler on the wrong way, which I’ll simply fix by remounting the fans the other way around, when I do the first upgrade (which I already bought and I just got the mail that my order is shipping, while preparing this post).
First thing, 2 more boxes that weren’t in the first post:
I’m actually really happy with my choice in cpu now, but more about that later. We gotta install it first, after all :)
So, this was my first look at this beautiful motherboard by Asus. Honestly, I love it and already knowing my previous ASUS BIOS experiences, this could only get better from here.
And here we have my new favorite part of my pc: the intel i5-6600K. I planned on getting an i7-6700K, but those are really hard to get and this little monster made up for that very nicely, but nooot yet time for that :3
Yveltal1151 PC Build - Day 0 - The first parts [2/2]
Pictures of all the parts I have around already. I kept all of the new stuff in the box for now, so everything stays clean and protected.
