Hydros from the Disney version of Hercules (D&D 2024 / Level Up: Advanced 5E)
Let’s get it out of the way: there are a ton of things wrong with Disney’s version of Hercules. Just straight down the line inaccuracies (probably more of those than…accuracies?), rampant misogyny, inflated masculinity…it’s a real list. EVEN SO—and bear in mind I am a person with a Film Studies degree and a minor in Classics—it’s a good flick. Killer villain performance by James Woods. Phil is some of Devito’s best work. Megara is complex and dope (oh my god is my love for my wife somehow sourced out of Megara? Shiiiiit I think at least part of it is. Gonna table that to just be a constant background thought for the next 7 years.) Yes as I was saying it’s a good movie. It sticks with you.
Equal parts of both those aspects are the depictions of the Titans in Hercules as gigantic embodiments of the elements themselves that could go toe-to-toe with Godzilla. Are these like the elder pantheon we know? Hades no. Are they dope AF? Hades yes. Will they make for good monsters in a D&D or Level Up* game? Hades YES.
I’m bringing the blog back to the basics folks and present to you the “Titan” HYDROS!
* If you’re like “why is <insert line here> like that”: this is a hybridized statblock, part D&D 2024 and part Level Up: Advanced Fifth Edition.

Magic Resistance. Hydros has Advantage on saving throws made against spells and other magical effects.

Casts a Spell (Costs 2 Actions). Hydros casts a spell.
Snap you made it all the way down here! I like you.
If you are in need of high level monsters (or some high level play) wander over to www.epic5e.com for more of that. Otherwise check out the Classic NPC Codex on Kickstarter now and drop a pledge to snag over 50 more baddies for your toolbox (battlechefs, mages, ogres—it’s all there), a few of which are pretty chonky.

I know it’s not hard to point out reactionaries hypocrisy when it comes to like safe spaces or hug boxes or whatever but genuinely how much of an echo chamber do you have to exist in for you to think this is a reasonable thing to say
reblog if attacking fascism is really the hill you want to die on
this is literally like one of the most justified and honorable hills you could die on??? lol??
Quick someone reply with the gif™️
Always reblog this if you are cool
Just in case any of you are confused, TikTok being banned and coming back not even 24 hours later with a giant "we thank President Trump" message is NOT a win. It's a huge red flag and a sign that this was a thousand percent planned.
dr who’s on first, doctor strange is on second and doctor house is on third. theres no way theyre getting through a single inning
so who’s on first?
That’s right 👍🏻
that’s strange
No, he’s on second.
Well how’s he on second if he’s on first?
No no no, House is on third. Second base is Strange.
Well this whole darn thing is strange but what I’m asking is who’s on first?
Naturally.
Naturally.
So Naturally is the first baseman?
No. The first baseman is Who.
Well I don’t know that so how’s about you tell me?
House is on Third.
I’m not asking you about third base I’m asking you about first base.
Who’s on first!
This is horrible
Dr Horrible is the pitcher, not first base
That’s not what I’m asking about! No!
Dr No is in the outfield, but let’s not worry about them right now.
the twitter thread the artist created after this was one of the best situations i have ever seen in my whole life:
Somebody give this ignoramus a piece of actual shark skin and tell him to rub his face with it, let him find out just how “smooth” sharks really are.
Somebody did. I use it as a pillowcase because it’s so smooth.
But buddy.
Shark skin feels exactly like sandpaper. It is made up of tiny teeth-like structures called placoid scales, also known as dermal denticles. These scales point towards the tail and help to reduce friction from surrounding water when the shark swims. … In the opposite direction, it feels very rough like sandpaper.
((Here m8 https://www.floridamuseum.ufl.edu/fish/discover/sharks/basics ))
Buddy. It’s smooth. The link you sent me led to a website that described how smooth they are. I dunno, maybe you don’t know how to read?
this post is transcendent
You’re thinking of dolphins. Dolphins are the ones with smooth skin that feels like a rubber beach ball.

The algorithm penalizes images with text so naturally the logical thing to do on the last day of this Kickstarter was to put as much text as possible into the banner image.
I'm bored of elemental giants. Use environmental giants instead.
Environmental Giants all start out the same, but their bodies take up the features of the place they live in. They become a reflection of their domain.
Giant takes up residence in the cliffs of dover? Not a stone giant. No, that's specifically The Giant of Dover. Its body is made of chalk. It can create dust clouds of chalk with its breath, its shoulders are padded with tufts of short grasses and blackberry bushes.
Giant takes up residence in the ruins of a highway during an apocalypse? That's the I-95 Giant. It has rebar spines along its back, skin of pavement and concrete, and wears wrecked cars as armor.
And to make this idea more dynamic, the giant's form changes as the ecosystem changes. A river gets diverted away from a Giant's domain? Then the Giant dries up along with its land. Now the Giant has an incentive to protect its dominion, and a weakness that its enemies can exploit.
A friend of mine suggested that if giants take on the forms of their surroundings, then perhaps mimics could be the larval state of giants.
And I. Well. I'm not sure what to do with this information.
