So, the Hovering by Canuck Quilter Designs pattern went together in like, a day. Even when I had to math it out because I didnāt feel like buying the pattern for real canadian dollars.
And it used up some of my scraps from my 2.5ā squares, so I of course made a second one in a different colourway.
The blue purple teal has a dark grey shadow on white background and the yellow orange red has a brown shadow on beige.
Nice throw size quilts for the couch. The binding for each will match the accent colour in the single floating squares.
I am afraid the quilting bug has a chokehold on me lately and I can't stop doing it all by hand
Working on a kind of high concept quilt that's like an imitation of water lilies and lily pads. I'm digging it so far
Finally finishedāmy momās sunshine and shadows quilt! This was a collab piece. I picked out the fabric and did the layout and she did the piecing. Then she had it quilted by a local longarmer and I did the binding. I love how it perfectly hits the feeling of late summer/early fall. The colors are just delicious.
The fun part about getting really intensely into quilting is sometimes you sign up for a quilt retreat and youāre really excited for it and then months go by. And then a few weeks before the retreat it occurs to you that you do not know what a quilt retreat actually is? So you have to email the organizer to ask what you should bring. Like, do folks bring a couple unfinished things typically or start a new, retreat-specific thing? How much actually gets done? Should I bring my iron or will there be ironing stations for folks to share? These are the important questions I am asking.
everyone look at my beautiful new quilt blocks which i have spent the past few days on. they are so gorgina
I finally have finished all the quilting in one direction and have turned the quilt 90 degrees and am quilting in the other direction!
It is sooo hot though sitting under this thing! I have turned off the air conditioner because I canāt bear the thought of paying for it this late in the year, but it is still in the upper 70s in my living room. I never thought dehydration would be such a concern in hand quilting!
I love love looove crumb quilting. I never throw scraps out. They all get cut down and once they become crumbs they get added to the chaos.
lava lamp quilt
I finished!!!!! This has not been washed yet and still has chaulk lines. I will wash this and take more pictures in a day or so.
Details in afternoon light
quilt top for my vintage seasian batik/indian block print/scrap quilt is done šāāļø
i finally committed to making a quilt, bought all the fabric and now i am just... scared?
Forgot to post the finished quilt top for my friendās wedding. Itās getting long armed with gold thread by a friend of a friend and Iām beyond excited I donāt have to potentially ruin it quilting it on my little machine.
I have made a few more block. I plan on making the lattice/borders and then sewing the blocks in once they are done and I have created a configuration I like.
One of the most amazing things about the Jane Austen quilt is its symmetry. The 2500 border diamonds are mirrored horizontally and vertically.
Iāve made the decision not to try to recreate this for my borders because I felt like that would push the project away from being fun into being a chore. I like the look of the randomness, and Iām still preserving the symmetry for the inner 3ā diamonds. I really canāt imagine the level of organization and attention to detail it took to make the original borders.
