So Vostryans have always been the army that I have wanted. When I restarted painting after 13 years I was sad to see they were discontinued.

So while I wait for my made to order infantry, I have made a batch of Scions and Aquilons using Solar Auxilia bodies as the bases as they were ancient/ relic armour and they would be perfect to represent more sturdy armour. Scions have greenstuff chainmail and the Aquilons have only a few extra bits of chainmail because they are meant to be lighter to fly.

And I have done a practice of the colour scheme that I wanted and of the bases on the only Vostryan that I had from the days of the Medusa campaign.

Turns out we spent three years working alongside a nonce. The atmosphere of the entire building yesterday was tense.

At least everyone I spoke to is passionate about smashing his face in.

Since we’re all falling over each other to spill our strictly no-nuance takes on veganism and indigenous people lately, here is mine:

I think that if every person who brings up indigenous issues exclusively when they're talking to a vegan actually took any meaningful action to advocate for those communities, the material conditions of indigenous people would probabably be quite a lot better.

I mean the gammon love to leap on the whole indigenous thing. And then they get angry when people mention that 70% of our land is used for farming and 80% of that is used for animals and their feed. Completely failing to realise that there is no food shortage and that is all goes to feed what takes up half their plate. And then complain that there is no space to build housing, my dude it's all used for animals. Maybe just eat the vegetables instead?

Honestly my use of social media has dropped significantly in the past 12 months.

Tumblr shows me blogs I don't even follow more than half the time to the point I click on this app maybe once a week.

Instagram and YouTube are filled with AI so now I now only click on channels I already follow and activate ignore the main feed.

Facebook is a cesspool of rage bait for clicks.

It used to be that thinking in your head was the very most basic freedom you had. And people are just... giving that away.

I get it because you can summarise the economy in 2026 as, I work every day to pay off my landlords mortgage. Who wouldn't want to just veg out after that because hard work and loyalty sure as heck aren't rewarded, they are seen as just something else to exploit.

I do not agree with veganism as a moral standard. If it is your personal moral stance, that is fine. If you think humans eating meat is inherently immoral, I don’t want to deal with you, you’re hopeless. Vegan ideology behaves more like a sect of evangelical Christianity than a dietary choice.

Veganism is better for the environment, but claiming that it's a morally superior choice ignores cultural and economic factors that make people eat animal products.

It is not inherently better for the environment. That is the thing. When you begin trying to explain that local, sustainably sourced animal protein is better for the environment than imported plant proteins that are farmed 3,500 miles away using slave labor, they start tuning you out. Down is better for the environment than polyester stuffing, leather is better for the environment than pleather. We should work on making animal agricultural practices more sustainable instead of trying to shame everyone into eating plant products that are also farmed unethically and unsustainably.

Like you don't have to go vegan but claiming that animal products are better for the environment than plants is like saying that smoking is less likely to result in lung cancer than not smoking. It's also straight up climate change denial.

Have been watching breaking bad for the first time, and am up to the last episode now.

The immediate hatred I had for Walter because of how his lying and manipulation was exactly what my father out us through almost daily up until I was 16 was very real.

This year I have gotten back into warhammer 40k after 10 years away. Imperial guard, naturally. Thought I would share what I have been making so far.

One of the rare few to hate the gas masks on the Krieg minis. So I took the time to replace them with what Cadian heads I could get my hands on.

Then while painting I ended up watching Enemy at the Gates, and realised how striking it was seeing all the banners. And that is how I decided to add one for each sergeant. Though I might change that to a standard trooper in the future so that their equipment is more clear on the tabletop.

And you can see one of the old metal commissar that I have!

That is my artillery team done! Decided all secondary metal components will be in bronze and it was very worth the effort.

Gotten much better with painting faces as well. Now guess who has to go back and tidy up about 60 of them.

I find it good to paint something very different in between all the mass infantry of 40k. And I of course only now realised I can get the LOTR models that I missed out on before!

Yesterday at work. I misheard what my Latvian colleague with a thick accent said.

I thought he said "Tomorrow you can sit on my face"! I cried with laughter and needless to say, I told everyone.

What he actually said while smiling at me "Tomorrow you will miss my face". Because he was off the next day.
