Everyone. This is NOT a drill. I have hacked into the backend of [tumblr]. I'll save us all.
I genuinely wonder if people realize how many projects get abandoned because the readership "wasn't there", when in reality, the readership just stayed silent. It's a big thing in trad pub that book series get discontinued because readers pirate the books or wait until the series is finished to buy a copy, leading the publisher to think that nobody actually wants the book enough to continue the series, but it happens with indie creators too.
I've discontinued a lot of free, online series because it's not worth putting 3-5 hours a week into posting a project for no readers. Sometimes I finish the series for me but just never post it again, other times I don't finish it at all because it feels more worthwhile to put my time into other things. Sometimes I hear from readers who are sad or upset that I didn't finish something they were liking, but the *reason* it never got finished is because I didn't know anyone liked it. If you like something, tell the creator, tell your friends, make some noise about it. If you would be sad if a story never finished, make that interest known because one of my biggest considerations before discontinuing a series is "will people miss this? Will I be letting people down" and 9/10 times, I come to the conclusion of "no, it doesn't even seem like anyone's reading this" only to learn after I've moved on that apparently someone was.
I've said this before in a different way, and this post said it so well. With real examples. If you like something, tell people.
If you want more content from an artist or author, if you like their stuff, tell them. It will give them creative fuel to keep going. And often it gives them other resources as well. Recommend a work to other people. Leave a comment or a review. It doesn't have to be long, just genuine, a sentence or two. Not many people know that a book's success is judged by book reviews as well as sales. Review the book on Amazon or another site to help it pass the metric of success and be recognized by publishers and retailers.

At the local hamburger shop and they said yelled out âorder 167!â And three middle school age kids yelled in perfect unison â 6 7!â Life is sometimes so beautiful
If you reference 67 you deserve to be executed on the spot tbh
If I was king for a day the first thing I would do would be to sentence you to a life full of love and understanding.
Hey don't cry, okay? We just found Attenboroughâs long-beaked echidna, a species thought to be extinct for the past 60 years.
We confirm the ârediscoveryâ of Attenboroughâs long-beaked echidna (Zaglossus attenboroughi), one of only five modern egg-laying mammals and
So Sir David Attenborough was already a well known naturalist(the docementary kind, not the nudist kind) in 1961 to have an animal named after him, then lived 60 years thinking the animal went extinct and now lives to see evidence of it not being extinct. That is both incredibly heartwarming and a very Elf-core thing of him to do. He truly is an archdruid
week 27 (days 187-192): fun summer vacation cat activities!
everyone on replies is terrified of this fact but i just think it's so sweet and heartwarming. she's holding our hand and leading us somewhere secret and we're both giggling like kids. i love her

my 100% failproof way to handle reactionaries asking why i donât shave at all is going âbecause i donât want toâ it works because what they really want is an argument about the merits of feminism, and theyâll draw it out and try to convince you itâs a cult or whatever, but you can avoid it all by sticking to âi just donât wanna. donât feel like itâ and if they argue with you about it you can use your ultimate ability, which is âiâm sorry i thought it was a free country?â which, believe me, they cannot come back from. theyâll either drop it or start harping on something you didnât say, and itâs important you donât take the bait at that point. when they canât argue with what you say, they assume your beliefs and attack those. and you crucially must be visibly baffled at their change of direction because it will make them seem and possibly feel crazy (which they are). âi donât want to shaveâ is a perfect response because truly it all comes down to autonomy and the ability to do what you want. theyâll try to say âfeminism makes you think you have to do thatâ and itâs important to not take that bait. to reiterate that you donât know what they mean and you just donât like shaving and that itâs really weird to look into it that deep. this works i promise
"incurious" still GOAT insult. You could be better but you're not. You could learn but you won't, and for no good reason, just a base dispositional apathy. Get fucked
Disney is doing crazy things in the japanese mobile game sphere rn
you may be familiar with disney twisted wonderland, the gacha game in which various disney villains are used as direct inspiration for handsome anime boys. well that game was so successful that disney is trying to do it again but this time they're just animeboyifying whatever
here's mickey, goofy, donald, and chip & dale. yeah they turned mickey & friends into anime boys. they're an idol unit or something. they're technically not anime boy versions of the source characters, they have different names. mickey's guy is "Neo Michel". not michael, michel, like he's french. chip & dale are "Ruska Moncrief" and "Ranka Monk", they have different last names, they're not brothers anymore so that they can be yaoibait instead, anyways this post isn't actually about these guys I'm just setting the stage for the actual humanizations I wanted to show you
They also did monsters inc. And. Well it's obvious from the designs who mike and sully are. but you will also notice. the blonde one on the left. with glasses. monsters inc is kind of famously about just the two guys so they didn't really have a lot of other non-villain characters to take anime boys inspiration from, I guess, so, well,
Yeah it's her. they made an anime boy version of the mean receptionist slug. her name is roz btw, as all of boygachagame twitter has become extremely aware of in the past 3 days as we speculated prior to the release of the full image who tf the third guy was. the anime boy's name is "noah slugger". at this point no parody of the types of things gacha games will make gijinkas of will ever be able to live up to what disney is officially spending their own real money on designing
the potato is so beloved itâs gotta be one of the most versatile vegetables there is. two industries off of slicing them up (fries and chips) and frying them. to quote samwise u can boil them mash them stick them in a stew. we eat them at different ways w every meal. you can put them in bread. weâd be lost w out them stuck eating zucchini chips

things that would exist if intellectual property wasn't a thing
so much cheap generic medication. reverse engineering compounds would be even more financially profitable.
fewer people dead of vaccine preventable illnesses in the global south (the greatest barrier to distributing some vaccines like hpv is their ip)
library of the world: every book and journal article in the world could be digitised and be searchable for every person in the world to read regardless of where they live
an online interface where every citation could actually lead to the text in question
we could be freed from the hell that is DRM software
everytime someone reverse engineered your shitty proprietary software we would all be freed from it instead of them getting DMCA'd
so much hardware would be opened up & therefore made so much cooler.
so many more songs that riff off and sample and interpolate shit from this decade instead of like 70 years ago and more analysis of music that didn't keep getting nuked off the internet
preserving movies and tv shows and games as long as someone, somewhere has the desire to host them
just go publish your fanfic/art/vid as is instead of all us pretending it isn't fanwork or begging the corporation for mercy / licensing
a world without ip lawyers. im getting chills just imagining it.
