first, thanks for asking me this question!! :D <3

second, i think that the biggest one is making obito and kakashi be friendly to each other when they were kids. i think it is a big theme of a lot of the cuter or fluffier fanworks, to make them friends as kids or to make them have requited romantic feelings while on team minato... but i gotta be honest: those kids fuckin HATED each other back then. their personalities and the ways they saw the world mixed like oil and water.

i have always felt the bonding we saw in the kannabi bridge mission was the first time they'd ever seen eye-to-eye about Anything (and one of the only times). and i don't believe that, without something as traumatizing as that mission, they would have ever grown into good teammates. team minato was always destined to crash and burn because of obito and kakashi (mainly kakashi), so i'm just glad they did it in that specific way.

Baffled. Someone posted a comment on the first chapter of Lucky Child that's just a huge spoiler for something that happens incredibly late in the story. Do they really expect me to approve that??

Reblogging this months-old post to say it's wild people are still (years after the fact!) so hung up on NQK getting powers. Hot-off-the-press comment apparently read 94 chapters before determining "I'd rather not have read this fucking thing [if she doesn't get powers]."

I always have a chuckle over statements like this. "Power" exclusively means beat-'em-up fisticuffs to some folks. They forget social power, political power, financial power, and more. Even in the landscape of Yu Yu Hakusho, some of these powers matter far more to the story than a characters' physical prowess. I wonder if readers like this forget what gave Sakyo his power in the narrative. I wonder if they forgot the entire Three Kings saga, where political maneuvering controlled much of the world. I wonder if they didn't read the final chapters of the manga, where we learn how King Enma derived much of his power in Spirit World. I wonder if they forget the entire reason the Territory psychics were introduced in Chapter Black.

(Hint hint...NQK gets her powers during this arc for a reason!)

One tenant of good character work is understanding what a character wants vs. what a character needs. NQK wants powers. She wants to fight with the boys and beat up her enemies...but maybe that isn't what she needs, and maybe that's the story I'm trying to tell. Maybe the point of my work is to challenge her perception (and the reader's perception) of what power means. Perhaps it's to deconstruct the meaning of power in a shonen battle setting. Perhaps we're exploring why fighting ability could be the least useful "power" of all. And perhaps all of this connects back to NQK's internal struggles, OG!Keiko's passive role in the narrative, and shonen manga tropes at large--the same tropes YYH itself plays with in Chapter Black when they introduce the Territory psychics, who are not vulnerable to Yusuke's tried-and-true method of solving problems with his fists.

Not everyone will vibe with my work. That's OK. Not everyone wants to read for themes or has the patience for a slow burn. Some people want punching and action in chapter 1, and that's totally fine... but it's not what I'm writing, and it isn't the story I'm trying to tell.

I hope they find a story that suits them better. It doesn't seem like mine is the right fit (which is obvious given how rudely they expressed their opinion on the matter).
