Re: your "unhealthy relationship w/SPN" post. I think you phrased that really well. The show has a pattern of giving fans 'gifts' in the 1st half of the season, then taking them away 1 by 1 after midseason, then taking away other things we like, then, often, smacking us in the face for accepting the gifts in the first place. I can't imagine this year will be any different. Oh SPN, how I loved you. *single tear*

It’s a pretty abusive relationship. At least this year I’m going into it with my eyes open, fully expecting to be betrayed and abused, just like every year.

I don’t want to crap on people’s expectations and hopes. I have a tiny, battered hope myself, flickering deep inside my chest. But I’ve seen people be crushed before, and I just want you all to be aware and protect yourselves with a little bit of a cynical layer, in case you need it.

In my experience, believe it or not, that layer makes it easier to enjoy the nice things we DO get from the show. Just don’t assume that nice things now indicate a straight road to perfect wish-fulfillment endgames.

It just occurred to me, does Jody even know what Cas looks like? They've never met as far as my memory goes and I don't think Sam and Dean ever took Cas' picture? Maybe Claire has Jimmy's photo. It's just weird, thinking that Jody might not know Cas depite her long association with the Winchesters and now being Claire's guardian of sort.

I would say that Jody could plausibly have made it to season 10 without knowing what Cas looks like, but I literally can’t comprehend a world where Cas has not sent Claire a dorky selfie of one eye while trying to figure this whole concept out after she sent a selfie to prove she made it Jody’s, and then managed to take a rather better series of selfies or maybe (*sob*) been forwarded a group photo from 10x18 or SOMETHING and DEFINITELY while recovering in the Bunker has been sending her selfies to prove he’s fine after dropping off the radar for a little while.

Basically Jody is the one person who’s knowledge of Cas would have probably only been a name in passing until she ended with Claire and is now almost entirely “this is my dork angel dad” rather than any of the BAMF stuff. With the terrible selfies to prove it. 

I will fight you over this headcanon.
