if you didn't watch the cabo verde v argentina game holy shit you missed out. it was intense. it was peak television. a first-time team from a tiny country came within a hair (3-2) of dethroning the reigning champions. their 40-year-old goalie had messi looking like he was having a panic attack. it was fucking brilliant. i need a cabo verde jersey now.

look all i'm saying is this would be the year for lewis to get his 8th championship.
Like look at this year sports wise ...
- Seahawks won the super bowl (they hadn't won since 2014 - they waited 12 years to get back to the top)
- Arsenal secured their Premier League victory breaking the 22 year long drought (since 2004)
- The KNICKS destroyed a 53 year old plague. we won the NBA championship for the first time since mf 1973.
(I can't speak on women's sports because I honestly haven't been keeping as much as I should, but I don't believe there's been any drought breaking records currently happening)
Each team I mentioned obviously had personnel changes, but the fanbases never wavered and the athletes themselves kept pushing until they reached the goal of winning the highest honor in their respective sports. They pushed relentlessly to achieve their goals, and happened to break cycles of loss that have haunted their fanbases for various amounts of time.
Lewis hasn't won a championship since 2020. It's been six years and he's been pushing relentlessly. He has changed teams and worked to build a garage around him in which he can thrive. I am absolutely manifesting for it to pay off for him like it's paid off for others.

the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be a part of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.

there will never be anything as funny as the mutual disbelief between long form and short form fic writers about each other's style.
short form writers look at people writing 100k+ fics as though this is some sort of talent given as part of a fae bargain, that the commitment required shows some sort of ungodly mental fortitude.
meanwhile long form writers look at people writing 1000 word one shots like god I would cut off my left nipple to be able to say anything concisely. i would love to play with multiple ideas. free me from the shackles of this child I have birthed. i love them but I now must take them to t-ball and doctor's appointments and they're going to destroy everything I own.

sorry i don’t think ill ever get past the blatant racism in the fact that the italian and irish mobs are heavily romanticized and almost idolized while latino/african american mobs and gangs are seen as the scum of the earth who single handedly ruin society. not saying either is good or anything but the absolute polar opposite way that white organized crime vs non-white organized crime is treated by media and white society is fucking nuts to me. just blatant stone cold hypocrisy
