Dabi says harsh, belittling things with that slightly annoyed edge before thinking them thoroughly through and only goes 🟣_🟣 when he sees the look of hurt/guilt/shame on your face.

Or the tight grip he has around your wrist leaving bruises that you try to hide from him until he sees the greenish/yellow marks. He thinks they're beautiful on you, but still has trouble touching you at all for the next few days.

And God forbid he ever uses his quirk on you— accidental or not. Tears in your eyes and the smell of burned flesh?! Nah-ah!!! He would be down on his knees; begging, pleading. Would tell you to stay away from him while simultaneously ushering after you to make sure you don't hate him. Would try and convince you that it wasn't that bad at all when in reality he needs that reassurance more than you. I don't actually view it as submission to be honest. In fact, I'm one of those fans who don't believe that Naoya has a single submissive bone inside his body—he just wasn't raised that way. But I do believe that he's the kind of guy who will twist every situation to make himself look superior and in charge so he doesn't appear weak.

If he does have a soft spot for you, no one can know! It would put shame on his family name that he's so proud of and wouldn't be fit of the heir to the clan. After all he has a reputation to uphold. So he makes up excuses towards other people, puts words into your mouth no matter how ridiculous they sound and lies straight into your face as if you didn't know better. He will never ever show how much he cares and will treat you like you're just another duty in his life and the ring on your finger wasn't carefully picked out by him after hours of contemplating in the best, most exclusive stores all over Japan.

I would love to write more of him, even scribbled down a few scenarios I would like to try for him in my notes, but seeing how the jjk fandom treats writers who enjoy the depiction of a very mean, dominant and (canon) misogynistic personality for Naoya...I don't know if I will ever come around to more than just a few drabbles 🤷🏻‍♀️

Controversial take: I actually love Naoya as a character and I think the fandom is a little too harsh on him. With how he was raised to view the world, gender and sexuality, how everything is supposed to work around his powerful family name and his status as a man of wealth and how in his circle every human interaction is treated as a transaction rather than care for one another; it's no wonder he ended up as spoiled and entitled as he is. (And as someone with a completely submissive-masochistic personality myself, I like my men handsome and mean. Sorry not sorry for Naoya fitting right into my fantasies.)
