B moves low budget movies
So a long time ago when you went to the movies you paid one fee but got multiple movies. The second movie was the b movie. It had less well known actors and a smaller budget. The b movie can be any genre.
So these are movies that either had low budgets or were made to look like them.
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension = often shortened to Buckaroo Banzai - trigger warning kidnapping, tortured, suicide attempt ,death.- sci fi action - Buckaroo Banzai is a rock-star, brain-surgeon, physicist, all of his crew are also multi talented. While on tour he meets the love of his life a human, he also meets an alien who needs his help because of an invasion. I love it. Very quotable. Filed with great character actors. Will have you pointing at the screen going I know that actor. Sadly even though a second movie is promised at the end it was never made.
Tremors 1990 - comedy horror sci fi- trigger warning some death, lots of violence. A monster mega fauna previously undiscovered is found. Now you just have to survive. Well written well acted. Has a billion prequel and sequel movies and a short lived tv show. I like the first movie best.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show 1975 - trigger warning death, also everyone is insulted every sexuality is insulted, lots of sex in every sexual direction, some sex might be considered rape though that is not how the writing or the actors considered it. This is on the list but has a list actors. Plot - Brad and Janet get a flat tire they seek shelter in a nearby castle belonging to Frank-N-Furter, an eccentric transvestite alien. At the end the humans are left and the castle rockets to space. A retelling of Frankenstein. Ignore the sequel it is nothing like this. Do go to a live show if you can it is a film and a show all in one. Also see Everything Everywhere All At Once
Alphaville - sci fi with tiny budget. So the sci fi is all in the dialogue. Lemmy Caution is trying to find his friend who is either dead or captured. He is also their to kill the leader of the city. It is very confusing. Up for lots of debate. Watch by yourself then watch again with friends. Its mostly worth the talk it generates with your friends.
Six-String Samurai (1998- post-apocalyptic action comedy - this is an alternate universe. Buddy Holly is in the wastelands after the Soviet nuking of America takes on an apprentice. Death and the horseman are trying to kill them both as they travel to Los Vegas.
Space Truckers (1996) - Sci fi action comedy, John Canyon is an independent trucker needs money so takes illegal cargo. It has Square Pigs. It has unstoppable killers. It has an everyday hero. Happy ending and a big fuck you to corporations.
Ice Pirates (1984) - sword fighting, slavery, robots , kidnapping, time travel, a cameo by Space Herpes!, death but not really. Pirates are forced to help a princess find her father. If you like this I recommend The Princess Bride and Captain Blood.
Evil Alien Conquerors 2003 - two aliens are sent to invade earth. They go native and make friends. The invasion is foiled. It is fun and comic book style of problems solving.
Blood Drive - tv series - one season- more was promised but never made. Horror comedy. Cars eat people in a bloody and violent way. The drivers are part of a contest. It was made to imitate a low budget Grindhouse style. Well acted.
Sleep Dealer 2008- a remote worker who lives in Mexico and works control robots in America. The company he works for says there remote workers have citizens doing the work but instead hire outside the country to pay low wages. Also, he is hiding a past because he survived an u.s. military cover up. It is fantastic writing and brilliant acting. Also, this predicted what is now here and done on a small budget.
Safety Not Guaranteed 2012 - WANTED Someone to go back in time with me. This is not a joke. You'll get paid when we get back. Must bring your own weapons. Safety not guaranteed. I have only done this once before. ( A reporter responds to the advertisement. Time travel happens or not. Your welcome.
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes 1978- a comedy parody of the 1950s genre film what if nuke made the natural world go wrong. It barely has a plot. It is funny scenes a mixed cast of good and bad acting. It has sequel that is a repeat but mostly different cast. Also while movies are live action it has a cartoon tv series I loved.
