I was going to hold off on posting till after I slept. But chapter 12 of The Great Tribulation by aloremrem @raphalorem just dropped. I've been loving the fic so far, so here's a scene from Chapter 11, and a cuddle, from some point in the fic.

it is important to me that the first meeting between simon and the hail mary crew is a bad one
First (this one) - Next

Could you imagine making your own movie, making like 20 million dollars, and then going “awesome, now to install a DVD duplicating machine in my house and personally burn copies by hand like a medieval monk preserving sacred texts”
Like I need people to understand the mental image here of a multimillionaire internet creator personally overseeing DVD production in his own house like he’s running an underground bootleg operation out of a basement in 2007.
It’s weirdly charming because there’s something very “old internet” about it, this energy of “I made a thing, and now I will physically hand it to people myself like an artisan at a craft fair.”
The man really said: “The future of cinema is me standing next to a humming disc burner at 2am”
And like... I can't help but believe he's onto something
Since everyone loved and used the first one so much I made a better one!! I feel like this one’s easier to parse!!
I shouldve known how big the other one would get but lmao i didnt think about kt when i made it so its a disaster LMAOO heres rhis one instead
I've noticed a lot of people missing out on some of Simon’s features when it comes to bloodymary. I completely understand if you have not seen Iron Lung, so I have things that may help if needed!!
Below will be some references and notes to help anyone out who may need it!! None of this is meant to come off as rude, I just want to help people out who have not had the opportunity to watch it.
I posted this on my twitter, but I wanna put it here too because tumblr gives me a lot more room to ramble on without cutting off tweets :]
SPOILERS BELOW FOR IRON LUNG!! and a general body horror warning!!
EDIT (4/1/26): I found more close up images of the mutations near the end of the movie!! They will be under everything else :]
EDIT (4/4/26): References and BTS of Simon's arm rip added!! AND HIS PENDANT!! THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT GUYS WE GOT A SOLID PENDANT REFERENCE
BODY HORROR WARNING!! SOME OF THESE PROSTHETICS AND MAKEUP ARE REALLY GNARLY AND GROSS
Family. Iv mapped out his tattoos (third image is his crew etched into his arm)
Some more Simon from Iron Lung. I'm still figuring him out, but adding colours was fun!
Expectation:
Reality:
I drew more monster/mutated Simon. The local fish man is so much fun to draw.
I wanted to design a mutated/monster Simon from Iron Lung, so here we are. Ignore the first head, that was my first design that I didn't like. The bottom left also shows off some of the gills better.
I imagine there'd be some almost eldrich horror aspects of his abilities. He's hard to hurt/kill and is effectively immortal (he wanted to live after all). His left arm is permanently missing, but he can regrow anything else. He can just appear out of blood.
He's also more of a mid to shallows dwelling guy. He doesn't want to live where the eel was. Simon also has collapsible lungs, so he can dive that deep if he wants to. Because of his lungs, he can also survive on the surface.

Project Hail Mary References
I'm both an artist and a writer, and I found some amazing references for Project Hail Mary.
Adam Savage's Tested is fantastic and has so many great references with the videos. I'm going to list them here and go through some of the things they have that you all might be interested in.
First up: The Space Suit!
This is a great video if you want references for the suit. It has some beautiful close ups of all the nity gritty details. They also break down the construction of the suit. Though it mainly shows front and three quater angles. There's sadly no shots from the back. They also don't have a clear shot of the boots.
But! There are still some ways you can get references for that.
Second: The Space Walk!
In this video, Adam Savage puts on a stunt space suit. This means this is a screen accurate suit, or at least relatively accurate. Though he does not have the gloves, the helmet, or the backpack. But we can see shots of the boots (which I found out too late for my art RIP), and the back of the suit. This one also gives you an external look at part of the Hail Mary, as well, if you want external references.
Third: Behind the Scenes!
This is a fantastic one as it shows miniature models of the rooms of the ship, as well as a close up look of the Cockpit set, and at 10:40, there's a map of the Hail Mary, and its rooms. I'm writing a fanfic, and this has helped me so much! Also, no wonder Grace had such a hard time learning to pilot the Hail Mary, half of the controls are in Chinese. Because they were designed for Captain Yáo Li-Jie, who is Chinese. Which makes sense, you want things to be as easy for your pilot as possible. But the fact that they had that kind of detail in this movie is insane!
Fourth: How it was Built
Now this one doesn't have a whole lot for reference stuff, but it's still a cool video. It's more about how they made it than anything else. I wanted to include it since it's still a part of the whole set of videos Adam Savage made.
Edit: I found a picture of the map! I got it from here, link.

Vlad costume change
we’ve gone from the yee haw agenda to the ye olde thot programme
Ah yes, those slutty slutty Landsknecht shorts:
The bare-legged / hot-pants look was fairly common, since the whole point about being a Landsknecht (or Reislaufer, their Swiss equivalent) was to look outrageous.
Most period illustrations of Landsknechts are black-and-white woodcuts…
…though in 1905 a book called „Geschichte des Kostüms“ - History of Costume - assembled a bunch of black-and-whites and added colour.
If they look excessively gaudy, they’re not, because these next prints were coloured in-period by an artist called Erhard Schön, and it’s fair to assume he was representing what he saw.
In short - or in shorts - those reenactor costumes are spot on. :->
Something mentioned nowhere in this post that I have just learned from googling: these guys were not Ye Olde Medieval Dandies. They were 15th-16th century mercenaries. Pretty hardcore, too. They were exempt from sumptuary laws (ie the rules that said you couldn’t wear certain colours or cloth or styles) and apparently their response to that was technicolour thotpants.
I was complaining earlier about costuming in both “historical” settings and in fantasy/scifi. This is exactly what I mean when I say a knowledge of actual history would enrich the conceptual creative palette for things like “hardcore mercenary outfits.”
The first one is a sketch from my fanfic 'I Know Him So Well' on Ao3. It's a time travel fic starting with Mecha Man and Flambae meeting differently at the mall.
The rest are just fun Robert sketches.
A page of Roberts. The Dispatch obsession has hit me full swing. I love my sad little twink. Am I consistent? No. Am I having fun? Yes!
Bonus, a tired Robert.
