Something At The End Of Stayed Gone I Have Never Seen Anyone Talk About
I have been wanting to get around to this for a long time and got inspired to finally talk about it with Season 2 almost out.
Something I have noticed about Alastor is that he does not like showing that people get to him or make him angry. He slips up sure, like with his blow up at Husk. Also if you spend enough time around him it gets easier to tell when he is peeved. But I don’t think he has ever voluntarily showed someone he was angry with them. Even with people he likes.
Like Mimzy, there was a couple of times he was annoyed with her, but not once did he ever express it. And I remember how shocked Mimzy was when Alastor said she had to leave and that she was causing a problem. Almost like this was the first real time he was leveling with her and setting boundaries with her
What I am getting at is, he does not voluntarily express or communicate to anyone that they have upset him. I wouldn’t be surprised if he thought people being able to get a rise out of him was a show of weakness. He also does not trust anyone enough to let someone know they have upset him. So that makes the end of Stayed Gone really interesting.
During the start and middle of stayed gone, Alastor was the perfect example of unbothered
Because he would not DARE let anyone in the audience know that Vox was upsetting him. But at the end of the song, when the audience can no longer see him and it’s technically only him and Vox he changes his tone
The restrained anger in his voice, the angry curl of his lips over his teeth his eyes staring daggers right into Vox.
His antlers growing, something that happens when he is really angry. Just the way he is doing it slowly and purposefully showing Vox he has made him really mad. I didn’t realize it till the season was over and watched this video again and kinda had this realization.
The second part of his transformation is a warning that says
“This is the only warning I am giving you. DO NOT DO THIS AGAIN!!”
And then there is Vox’s reaction to it, which bewildered me on the first watch, but makes a little bit more sense now
Alastor’s “message” had 100% the desired effect. He looks like a scolded child. It was an expression that said “ I fucked up” I thought it was so damn weird my first watch through. And then there is THIS PART!
Like I guess you could read it as he is upset that he lost their little sing off (whatever that was) but to me it reads as someone who really fucked up and now realizes he is in the dog house. Again, I thought it was SO WEIRD! I remember thinking “buddy, if you didn’t want him to be Mad at you why did you pick a fight with him?!”
Now, looking back at it and the rest of the season. It kind of feels like Alastor showing Vox he made him mad is almost akin to…trust? Like a really twisted form of trust. He felt he could trust Vox to show he made him mad. And weirdly, that trust was not misplaced, Alastor spoke, Vox listened.
And it would be soooo interesting if Alastor voluntarily shows Vox the wound he got from Adam because that would be a huge show of trust in Alastor’s case, it was probably by accident but either way
In the trailer, Vox seems to really be taking in what Alastor is saying. Once again, Alastor speaks, Vox listens. But this also shows Alastor has poor communication skills. The shit he is saying here is just gonna egg Vox on. For whatever reason, Alastor can’t seem to level with Vox and just say
“The only reason we even won was because Lucifer stepped in and scared them off. You are going to get yourself killed!”
These two might want to try killing their egos before their egos kill them
