Watching Supergirl Has Made Me Think About How I’d Make Movies For My Team of OCs
Watching the movies in chronological order:
Mockingbird: The Past
This follows a man named Johnathan (Johnny), a black man living in the 30’s. He decides to bring to life the hero he used to see in his dreams as a kid (which isn’t named yet). Along the way we watch him struggle and teach himself to fight while also managing his civilian identity. After a while he gets a job where he meets a girl, Joan, and he decides to try and get to know her while he’s in costume. She chooses his name for him, and the movie is mostly focused on his journey as hero and person, with a small love interest subplot. The movie ends with his death, where he passes on the Mockingbird identity to Joan.
Mockingbird: The Present
It’s been two weeks since Mockingbird has mysteriously disappeared. Joan has been debating on if she should even take up the identity, partially feeling too weak for it, but also partially feeling like it belonged to Johnny, not her. After thinking for a while, she decides to head out to the other heroes for training, as she was told to in Johnny’s note (he wrote it in case of his death). First half of the movie is her training and having to take on the identity of a man. Second half of the movie is when WWII starts, detailing her struggles and being captured. While attempting to run away, she finds a machine that she has no clue about, but she knows must be dangerous. She tries to break it, but while doing so, turns it on, teleporting herself into the future, effectively frying the machine and saving everyone, but at the cost of herself.
Mockingbird: The Future
Follows Joan’s identity in the future, having lost all her family and friends, and now all the grief has caught up to her. Suddenly, a threat (haven’t decided what yet) she thought was in the past attacks, and since she was the only one alive to know about how to stop them, they need her help. The movie ends with her saving the day, finding most of her identity, and meeting Evelyn.

We meet Evelyn Reyes, a teen girl who’s recently met and moved in with her father, Bruce Wayne. She's troublesome, always sneaking out to go to parties, getting in trouble at school, getting into fights, etc. She meets Mockingbird one day while trying to help her family out, and they become quick friends. After displaying her powers to Joan, she’s invited to join the team Joan’s putting together. The movie is spent with her figuring out who she is, learning to get along with her new family, and ends with her learning to take care of herself better.
Starling
By this point we already have Team Volery, which would’ve been established in Evelyn’s movie. They have an enemy named Mace, a masked person that’s also extremely powerful. In this movie, we follow Mace’s (also known as Veronica) point of view as the adopted “daughter” of Lex Luthor. She breaks her mask and goes rogue, attacking anyone in the way of her revenge on Luthor. During this, she meets team Volery, who offer her a place on their team as a hero. After fighting them the whole movie, she realizes that hero’s aren’t evil like she was taught, and decides to not kill Luthor. She is then given the name Starling.

Power On
FINALLY get to give some time to Gigi (full name Virginia Silver), a character fighting insecurity about the fact that she’s not like other people (because she’s a sentient robot). She’s the least popular member of team Volery, and she doesn’t like herself as a hero OR a civilian. As a way to find and prove herself, she decides to tackle a difficult mission on her own, which ends up sucking her into a larger mess, leaving her to have to save everyone and get home by herself, learning to appreciate and love who she is along the way.
If you’ve followed me already you may have noticed a change in lore. This is because I haven’t posted here in forever (my bad guys). I plan to come back, though!!

Pilot plot:
Evelyn is walking home from her first day of school. As she walks, we see hints to her pretty privilege, such as people staring at her/doing double takes, or how they’re more polite to her as she gets on the subway. We also get small flickers of ghosts as she walks. We’ll later get dialogue hinting that she chooses to walk home.
She’s going to be thinking through her homework list in her head, making some complaint about being moved to a private school, before mentioning her move to Gotham two months prior.
She walks inside the manor to see nobody but Alfred home. Alfred asks about her walk, to which she gives some comment and this is where I’ll fit in the explanation about her wanting to walk home. While Alfred thinks she does it to exercise, she actually does it because she wants, more than anything, to feel normal for once, which is hard to do with your dads rich car picking you up from school.
Evelyn would have some thoughts which explain to the viewer that the family tried to hide their night lives from her, but she eventually figured it out when one of them caught her sneaking out one night, and they accidentally lectured her too hard to be a random vigilante (I’d say Dick would be the culprit most likely). We’d get a flashback, showing Bruce with the other family members explaining that they didn’t want to end up with another Robin, which is, in his mind, another death.
Cut back to current time, where she’s lazily laying on the couch, saying that she has no interest in crime fighting, even with her abilities (which she doesn’t say quite yet).
We cut to Bruce and Damian, currently having to deal with Killer Croc. There’s an alarm going off in the background, and Croc has a bag of cash in his hand. Damian seems like he’s about to get a hit on Croc when the creature suddenly passes out, showing a dart in his back. Mockingbird lands by him, holding a gun in her hand. Damian would get angry at her, to which she’d make a comment about them being too slow, not necessarily trying to be rude, but still making a jab. Bruce tells her good job, but clearly is a bit frustrated by her stealing this from him.
He’d have some thoughts, briefly explaining that she appeared a month ago after going missing in the 40’s. He remembered her briefly from when he was a kid, which is one of the reasons he’s been allowing her to mess around in his city, but also because Dr. Fate spoke well of her.
Skip to family dinner. Damian complains about the “new” vigilante. Evelyn looks interested, asking about her. A few will look surprised at her interest, hinting at her usual uninthusiasm.
In the middle of their conversation, Joker pulls that bs where he controls all the tvs in Gotham, showing three kids he’s kidnapped, gun in hand. There’s a boy, looking close to Evelyn’s age, standing in the background, who Bruce says is the Joker's “sidekick,” or new victim. The whole family, minus Evie and Alfred, leave the house.
The family arrives at the crime scene. It seems to be going alright, but then Joker’s goons start taking them out, one by one. It pans out to the television screen, Evelyn watching in her room. The Joker turns to the camera and says he wants a certain amount of money from the school by midnight, or he’s killing the hostages (plus the batfam).
Evelyn takes a second, before getting up and sneaking downstairs, grabbing one of Alfred’s spare guns from under the couch. She exits the house and runs down the street to where Joker said he was.
When he gets there, she easily sneaks around the police and breaks a window after trying the door. She gently goes up the stairs before being attacked by two goons. She tries to shoot one, but her aim sucks and she misses. She hits one with the gun (literally. She uses it like a bat). Before they can do any damage, Mockingbird crashes through a window, taking them both down.
She tells Evelyn to go home, not knowing the girl, to which she refuses. She doesn’t trust MB to actually take care of this if her family couldn’t.
They sneak to a door where they hear the Joker talking to the family, with the sounds of kids crying in the background. Evelyn hears a noise, followed by louder crying, which pisses her off. She kicks the door down, to which MB is absolutely shocked by. She then throws the door at the Joker, hinting at her extra strength. Joker yells for them to go after the two. MB tells her to untie the others while she takes down the goons. Evelyn first unties her dad, who tells her and Damian to lead the kids to the exit. They run off screen, while we see the other members get untied and some goons fight for a few seconds before cutting to them leading the kids out of the building. Evelyn looks over to see the boy, or Joker’s new sidekick. They make eye contact for a moment before the others come down the stairs, and when she looks back, he’s gone.
Everyone exits the building, the cops assuming Evelyn was a victim as well. They say they’re gonna call the Wayne manor. Before leaving, MB pulls Evelyn aside, having noticed she’s abnormal from other humans (and that she was too casual with the Batfam to be a normal citizen), and offers her training to be on her new team, Vollery.
Scene ends with Evelyn looking at the paper MB left in her hand, which has a bummer on it, and she smiles a bit for the first time in the episode.
okay so, I did NOT expect so many people to like this. the shitposts of shitposts. but yall did, and I had a whole bunch of people ask me about the other scales. I answered about all the scales in the comments, but not everyone is able to see those, so here yall go :]
I'm gonna copy and paste exactly what I said in the comments, so if it doesn't seem like the usual vibe of my posts, it's cause it's just the full-on comment.
the jacket scale is for jason. if you wake up and you have red hood's leather jacket over your shoulders or draped on top of you, you've absolutely been through some shit that you just don't remember at the moment. kidnapping, torture, etc. it basically means that jason was the one to find you and was so concerned he gave you the jacket, which is huge for him.
seeing duke's backpack by your bed means one of two things. one, duke has been doing his schoolwork inside the infirmary to watch over you as much as possible, or two, he keeps snacks in his backpack and he's supplying them to anyone who is sitting and waiting for you to wake up. so yeah, sorta like a mom friend. it's about a 5/10 on the 'how fucked am i' scale.
the bruce scale is just if you wake up with bruce next to you. because it's so rare, you probably nearly fucking died. if bruce himself wants to stay and check? yeah you're cooked.
the damian one is basically the same as bruce, accept that it's damian. if you see damian, even worse if he's leaning on the bed, that means he was nervous about you being in a vulnerable position and he is keeping watch. it's surprisingly common, it's his way of protecting them without being too obvious. (it's very obvious). it could also just be him waiting for you to wake up, though.
it's basic, but it's called the tim scale. it's pretty common to see tim sleeping near you when you wake up in the infirmary or in your bed, because he's just always kind of sleepy and can sleep wherever so he choses to sleep near you to watch over you or to just relax, but if you wake up and he's WIDE awake and youre in the infirmary??? yeah fuck that, you're screwed. not only does he look like he's been awake for a long time, a rare thing for him because I imagine him just constantly being a ready for a 4 hour nap, but he's literally watching your vitals and making sure your pulse is steady. best case scenario, you blacked out from blood loss. worst case is like. yk. being the newest member of the robin resurrection club. rare, but not impossible.
the alfred scale is called "the bedroom scale" and is not only the rarest, but it is also probably as scary, if not more scary, as the zitka scale. because you don't wake up on the infirmary or your bedroom, nope. you wake up in alfreds room.
waking up in alfreds room means that alfred knows that when you wake up, you're going to freak the fuck out. so he choses to handle the eventual fight or flight response you will have in his room, as it is the most unanimously agreed comforting place in the manor. every robin has slept in that room at some point, but never more than twice. besides maybe dick. jason slept in alfreds room the first night he was at the manor willingly after his death. tim got the alfred room after he passed out during the kon-cloning process. damian got the alfred room after heretic. dick got the alfred room on his third day at the manor.
to put it simply, if alfred knows you are going to crash out, sob, scream, or have the worst panic attack of your life upon waking up, he's sitting by your side while you rest in his bed.

Lyn went on to start boiling water, pulling out a kettle and filling it.
“I must thank you for stopping by. I’m sure you’re very busy.” She commented as she turned the stove on.
After placing the kettle down on the hot surface, she turned back to Stephanie. “How is everything going with you? You’re growing in popularity these days.”
She was pretty sure Steph was, at least. She doesn’t use much social media, and really only talks to other heroes, but they all held her in high regard.
“You know, kicking butts and taking names as usual. Nothing crazy. It’s weird that I’m getting so popular because the Bats are not supposed to be seen in the daytime, I mean, except Signal, but he doesn't count, but fighting one too many goop monsters in Metropolis while hanging out with Supergirl will get you on the news, I guess.”
She pulled her hair out of the tight ponytail it had been in. “What about you?”
“Ah, good. Recently, the Justice League has started officially recognizing my team.” Lyn puts two mugs on the counter with a tea bag in each. One is the mug she uses every night for tea, the other is a purple one, presumably for Stephanie.
“I’m glad. My teammates really do work hard. I’m hoping this will start opening up more opportunities.” She picks up the now heated kettle and pours the hot water into both mugs.
