@mockingjayoffrance
I suppose marrying your crush must be a strange experience for how often one is expected to casually utter the Words of Power (their name) in the most unhallowed (tax forms) contexts
I mean a little bit but mostly it'll just randomly strike you in the middle of something mundane like folding the laundry like "wow, Mr. Charismatic & Popular With the Angel Voice who I swooned over my freshman year of college married ME??? I'm married to HIM??? I'm holding his underwear and it's not creepy?????"
I'd just like to state here publicly what basically nobody disagrees with:
We need movie theaters.
If we don't have them, we turn on subtitles because we're losing our ability to listen/infer from context, we fast forward parts we're bored by, we stop and start to look at our phones or order a pizza or turn on something else, or we listen to what someone else is saying about the movie before it's concludedâ
movie theaters are a bubble where we agree to let the storyteller take us on a ride and tell us something, and we commit to actively listening and paying attention to nothing else while they're speaking. You can see nothing of the outside world, just the screen. It puts you inside the ride that the storyteller is piloting.
If you take away movie theaters you quarter the power movies have as storytelling tools.
To be fair, you also have to enter that bubble at live plays and musicals as well. Perhaps even moreso, because they are immediate and ephemeral; if you miss something, it's gone, you will never be able to see that exact moment again, even if you go back another night. And while theatre has been declining in popularity for a hundred years, I'd argue that it's less likely to disappear entirely than movie theaters, because it offers something that's even harder to recreate at home. All the same, I get what you mean, and it's definitely sad to see
Hey. Stop for a second. Take this moment to appreciate that you don't have to write a paper right now. No one is asking you to write a paper. You don't have to think about the paper or plan your time around the paper. You have the freedom to think about whatever you want. Everything is going to be okay. At least you don't have to write a paper right now
you want to be romantically attracted to someone? the thing that killed romeo and juliet?

okay i wanna play. what's the first song on your wrapped that has a color in the title?
This is so fucking embarrassing. This is one of the most embarrassing business quips I have ever seen in my entire vile career.
Guys. He's kidding. I suspected this from the moment I saw the post but I found his account on X and confirmed it. This guy is an architect himself. He knows the plan is shit and he's making fun of the people who tell him he will be replaced.

Absolutely heartbreaking, horrifying, and infuriating.
The Canterbury Cathedral was founded in 597 and rebuilt from 1070-1077.
And now the interior is covered in graffiti.
Edit: Apparently these are stickers that can be removed, hopefully without any significant damage to the underlying walls. That does not make this anywhere near okay, but it is comforting to know that restoring the interior will not be overly difficult.
Here's an article from the Association of English Cathedrals. They worked to make sure that there won't be damage.
âHear Usâ is a temporary art installation that has been carefully developed in conjunction with heritage experts to ensure that no damage is caused to the historic fabric of the Cathedral. It does not encourage or condone the making of graffiti on property owned or under the care of others.
HEAR US: a new art exhibition at Canterbury Cathedral that uses temporary graffiti to ask questions of God will go on display.
Yeah itâs still desecration of a sacred space.
I sure hope thereâs no damage. But even if there is absolutely zero damage, this is still nowhere near okay.
I was upset about it until I read the article. The Church is trying to reach out to people who may feel shy (I can't think of word I want) of a cathedral. The graffiti isn't willy-nilly, but rather people's questions to God. I think this is worth the souls that are being reached out to.
Would this be my first idea for community outreach? No, but I'd choose people's lives over sticker residue any day.
This isnât evangelism. They arenât answering the questions. Theyâre not having the conversations. They arenât preaching the Gospel. Theyâre just being provocative. Liberal churches have done stunts like this for decades, and it doesnât bring people to the Faith.
I read the article. I still think theyâre desecrating a sacred space.
You know what helps evangelism? When we as Christians actually believe that something special happens when we hear Godâs Word and receive His Sacraments, and treat the spaces where those things happen accordingly.
Maybe they should set up an evangelistic and outreach ministry in some old abandoned building on the wrong side of town. Then they can cover the building in graffiti and otherwise make it comfortable for the people they are trying to reach. Instead of reaching out they are trashing their own place and trying to con people into coming over.
That would have been an entirely different thing, but it would have required them to actually have passion for their faith instead of just wanting the world to tell them how progressive they are once again.
Also, graffiti seems a really condescending way of reaching out to "marginalized communities." Like they can only connect with the visuals of vandalism, desecration, and ugliness. Feels like "soft bigotry of low expectations" stuff.
Do you regularly eat food you dislike? What's the main reason?
I can't afford the foods I like
I don't control what food is purchased or prepared for me
I eat it voluntarily, even though I dislike it, because I need a balanced diet
I just happen to dislike a lot of food
I'm not good at cooking and I eat what I make even if it turns out bad
Religious or cultural reasons
Another reason
No, I physically cannot eat it (e.g. my body won't swallow it/I'll vomit/etc)
No, I mentally can't eat it
No, I'm fine with/enjoy pretty much all of the food I encounter
No, another reason
We ask your questions anonymously so you donât have to! Submissions are open on the 1st and 15th of the month.
This must need a larger sample size or something. No way 25% of people on the ADHD/autism website are fine with or enjoy pretty much all the food they encounter.

reblog to tell a 14 year old that these are the very, very hard years and they're not wrong to feel the way they do.
I had a fifteen minute long crying session yesternight over the fact that all I was 10 years ago, at the ripe old age of 14, is lost and lonely, and now, at 24, I am neither and that filled me with so much gratitude
reblog to tell a teenager that these arenât actually the best years of your life and that things can and will get better when you have independance and maybe are away from your situation right now.
Its me reblog to tell me that
All through elementary, middle, and high school, I had an incredibly difficult time making friends. Every time I did connect with someone, they had to move away soon after.
I was constantly heartsick with loneliness. I knew I didn't need a large group of friends, just someone, just one person beside my parents that I could talk and spend time and share things with. The loneliness drove me to self harm. Even the first few years of college, I still struggled, and I worried I would be lonely forever.
Six years later, my best friend stood with me in front of God and all of our friends and family and promised to never leave me.
i have no dog in the hunt but its not the own people think it is to say "Tylenol says pregnant women shouldnt take their medication" when like pretty much everything on the planet is not recommended for pregnant women.
Follow up questions for clarification. @thecatholicpharmacist
Have OTC pain meds have actually been researched for effects on pregnancies? And by extension, Tylenol has just flown under the radar until recently?
Yes, all other OTC pain relievers (there arenât all that many) had pretty definitive evidence of being harmful for pregnant women to take. Aspirin is a unique one but there is a lot of institutional bias towards aspirin as a whole and I donât know what to think about that comprehensively yet. Acetaminophen didnât fly under the radar and there are studies you can see that link it to certain harmful effects in pregnancy over the years, it was just less definitive than the others. Whether there was a concerted effort to suppress studies or whatever idk but there were certainly known risks.
You know I don't think people would complain about the political associations of dyed hair as much if it wasn't always a bad dye job in an unflattering color
Iâm really curious why there is such a strong political association. Like, what is it about certain political demographics that make them more likely to get their hair dyed in an unusual color?
I don't find that too hard to answer, it's the desperate grasping for identity that's so common in that demographic. The colored hair is not just a fashion choice, it is supposed to fill the void where a unique personal identity should be.
I think it's also about tearing down and subverting social norms, a key tenet of most extreme political views and especially postmodernism leftism.
