"isnt fionna supposed to be in her thirties or something???? why is she being so immature and not communicating??? shes a GROWN WOMAN lmao its so cringe that shes so messy like this" listen. yes she is a fictional character. a fictional character who previously only existed in small bursts within a 10 season show. we practically knew nothing about her outside of these very small peeks into her world pre-simonification, so plenty of people set up high expectations for her character. people still believe to this day that fionna's world was/is meant to be a 1:1 parallel of finn's world. when it was in fact, a god writing fanfiction about another universe and taking the same characters, slightly changing them, and putting them into different scenarios, and these scenarios hardly ever actually lined up 1:1 with the original universe he's been taking inspiration from.

but i DO just wanna say ive met women much older than fionna who were 100x messier than fionna is acting. age does not equal levels of maturity.

i honestly find this type of critique pretty shallow considering fionna's a character who's clearly felt a deep loss of purpose in her life and has been depressed and aimless for as long as she can remember, due to simons brain retroactively changing everything magical about their world to instead be normal from the very beginning. nothing is ever easy, and things dont just automatically get easier the older you get. sometimes people struggle with being a "proper" adult. fionna happens to be one of them. she has the expectation she needs to be a hero to everyone, because at one point, she WAS and she knows it. she cant really be that same type of hero anymore, where she can just "fix" any problem instantly with a sword and a good kick to the boingloings. she feels responsible for all her friends' issues and takes them all on at once instead of working together and cooperating. she really is trying her best, she's just buried in so much bullshit that she's starting to lose sight of what she should really do.

yeah, fionna's a one-track minded jerk. she's a fixer. she thinks she can just magically fix anything if she tries hard enough, even at the expense of other peoples feelings. she wants to be like finn, a hero that everyone can rely on. but she needs to learn how to be herself. while her actions can be frustrating, its shocking how little empathy people give her just based on "shes too old to behave like this" and also just because, well. shes a woman. its basically proven at this point that fandoms cannot fucking handle when female characters are written with ACTUAL flaws. especially when they end up being insensitive and rude to others because of those flaws.

This! Also people seem to forget that Finn is also horrible at processing his emotions. The only difference between him and Fionna is that he doesnt immediately have to face those emotions head-on because he can continue adventuring the land of Ooo unlike Fionna, who is confined to the city of Aaa. He's has shown in both Distant Lands and Fionna and Cake that he's only adventuring to distract him from processing the emotion from Jake's death.

Hades 2 original and new ending thoughts (spoilers obviously)

I will say, unlike many people it seems, I did like the original ending - I had issues with it for sure, though that had everything to do with the pacing and how it all came about rather than how it actually ended.

I think it fits very well to have Chronos be redeemed. Because Hades as a series, first and foremost, has always been that family deserves a second chance. It is one of the main themes of the 1st game! So I am glad that they brought it over into the 2nd. I think the people who were 100% expecting Mel to take down Chronos with no remorse or lesson to be learned didn’t truly absorb what the 1st game was trying to teach.

Now, the things I didn’t like about the original ending of 2. There are really only three things:

1st, it felt a bit rushed. It didn’t feel like there was much build up to it, and then it was suddenly just CHRONOS REDEEMED and that was that. We got the one scene with young Mel and Chronos, and not much else to really show us this relationship they could have had.

2nd, I didn’t like that Zag and Chronos were the only two people who could remember the alternate timeline. I remember thinking “aw. I think it would impact the story SO much more if at least Mel remembered.” This isn’t the biggest of the issues, but it was something that I think wasn’t making it actively worse, but would have made it better.

And 3rd, probably the biggest issue I had, was that Zag went behind Mel’s back and redeemed Chronos without really even running it by her. Okay, yes, he vaguely brings it up here and there, but there wasn’t ever a definitive “hey actually let’s really talk about this” (yes I know time was limited but if it was important enough to Zag that he would go behind her back then he should have pushed at least a little harder). I have no issue that he did redeem Chronos - in fact, I think it’s VERY in character. Because, again: Hades 1, redeeming family, second changes, etc etc. What I didn’t like was that it, in a way, robbed Mel of her agency. Instead of making me happy that the themes of the first game were being continued, it instead made me sad that she had spent her whole childhood learning how to do this one thing, only for Zag to all but rip it away from her.

So now, with all that in mind.

I LOVE the new ending. It fixes literally every single issue I had.

For the 1st: it no longer feels rushed. There are more scenes, more dialogue, a whole new 3rd phase with Chronos where he has an AMAZING monologue. I had chills listening to it. Then of course we get the same scene from the original ending with young Mel, but then we actually get to see scenes from her growing up! Having Chronos in her life! Interacting with Hypnos and Than! Painting her nails with Meg and Duda! Being trained by Achilles! Like!! Good shit!!! Good shit right there!!! I love it! It feels much less rushed and so much more thought out. Also we get to talk with Achilles! That’s neat!

For the 2nd point: Everyone from the house of hades remembers now!!! Which is even more than I wanted, I would have been happy with just Mel! Not that I’m not happy. Because OML the thought that Penelope actually got to raise a child??? She remembers raising Mel?? MY HEART OUGH. I also just think it makes things so much more intriguing! And really, just make more sense. I mean, why would only Zag and Chronos remember? Why would Mel not? But now she does! And I love that. I love it!

And for the 3rd point: Completely fixed! It is now Mel’s idea to redeem Chronos. Which now makes more sense because of the 1st point (re: more build up, better paced, Chronos new dialogue, etc etc). I think this is great! Also the line she has to Hecate about her being the reason Mel doesn’t just blindly do what she is told? CINEMA I love it. And in the same vein, I love how much more enraged Hecate is, and for good reason, because she doesn’t remember! I think this change was exactly what the ending needed, and I’m so glad supergiant did it. Now I can actually feel happy about the themes rather than being so focused on feeling bad for Mel.

Anyways the tl;dr of it all: I liked the original ending, I think the themes fit perfectly from those of the 1st game, just had some pacing and logistical issues. I LOVE the new ending because it still fits well with the themes of the 1st game but now no longer has those pacing and logistical issues. AMAZING.

(Actually I have one more complaint: needs more Charmes GIVE ME MY HUSBAND SUPER GIANT MAKE THEM KISS RN)

I think where this falls flat for me as a MStarmie redesign, is that it feels less like a mega and more like a cross-gen evo. Another thing I really don't like about this design is that it disregards the inspirations of original starmie, granted I don't think you would have an idea of what MStarmie was inspired by.

Let's start with MStarmie's inspiration to see why Game Freak decided on its cannon design, and where we can make improvements without throwing out it's concepts and lore completely.

MStarmie seems to take inspiration from three primary sources. The first two inspirations seem to influence its design. Classic Ultraman monsters like, Pestar, Maricula, and Gebalga, and the aliens the movie "Warning from Space"

The next influence seems to influence its animation, seems to be the Star Men from Mother/Earthbound, made by Creature Inc. One of the three owners of Pokemon

In its lore from the pokedex it says, "Its movements have become more humanlike. Whether it's simply trying to communicate or wants to supplant humanity is unclear.", so it seems that Game Freak was for the trope of aliens designing themselves amongst humans.

Looking back at your design, it looks like you were going for more of a natural animal look rather than an alien look, which contributes to its cross-gen evo vibe. Another reason is that it doesn't like a mega because it feels too tame, Mega (and Gmax forms by extension) pushes the pokemons attributes to the extreme, being recognizable as the same pokemon and not a permanent evolution.

Spoilers for Legends Z-A Below

Let's start with the already established time;

Legends Arceus takes place around or after 1868

Red/Blue/Green, Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, and their remakes take place at the same time in 1996

Gold/Silver/Crystal, Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, and their remakes takes place 3 year later in 1999

Black/White takes place 2 year before Black 2/White 2 in 2012

Black 2/White 2 takes place at the same time as X/Y and two years before Sun/Moon/Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon in 2014

Sun/Moon/Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon takes place 20 years after Red/Blue/Green and their remakes and two years after Black 2/White 2 in 2016

Sword/Shield and Scarlet/Violet has no stated relationship ship with the other games so let's use their realize years 2019 and 2022 respectfully

In Legends Z-A it is stated that Lysander fired the Ultimate Weapon 5 years prior to the events to the game, so the game takes place in 2019 at the same as Sword/Shield
