Welcome to Dragon AU: The Astromancer

Astromancer is a Danny Phantom au fic in which Danny is half dragon rather than half ghost. And no, this isn’t a DP flavored Jake Long fic.

The fic takes in a fantasy world where magic is a mundane reality. The Fentons are dragon hunters and one of their devices has — you guessed it — turned Danny into a dragon. Now he is trying to figure out how to reverse his cursed condition, and in the meantime he has to hide it from his parents and just live life.

This is a canon rewrite, but I have a lot in the works so it’s unfolding a bit slowly. (We just finished Parental Bonding in ch 13. 😅)

There will also be badger cereal whenever we get to Bitter Reunions, and once there Vlad will be a fixture as Danny’s dragon mentor. In the far future is lost time as well…

There is plenty of angst already, and there will be more along with hurt/comfort, emotional hurt/comfort, and whump. My favorite thing in the world is creature angst, of which there is plenty. This includes body dysmorphia and synesthetic overload.

There is also a LOT of world building. This is not a rote "magical world with magical school" type of fantasy. I have made conscious decisions for the economy, the government structure, the social structures, etc. that are all mostly just in the background but peek through from time to time. I also have a budding conlang for Draconic.

This is a Danny/Sam fic, but very slow burn so it’s not a focus. And some chapters are more character interaction heavy, because I self indulgently like to rest in those moments of angst or fluff. ❤️

This is my baby now and I am always thinking about it. I am committed for the long haul, rain or shine. We are already at 60k and we’ve barely begun. (As of ch 13)

I post weekly on Fridays. Each chapter is 3k-5k words in length.
