Omg this actually works!!! Thank you 10 of Pentacles!!!
I could seriously use this money right nowā¦.
Please give me my refund of 400$ soonā¦
I feel obligated to reblog this every time it shows up in my dash
No bragging, just 100% floored and grateful. Work hard, maintain a positive attitude, and believe that anything can happen.
So I reblogged this exactly a week ago because I thought it was funny and uh lo and behold, a family friend wrote me a big olā check just to help me out of a tough financial spot AND my bank refunded me $32 for fees theyād originally taken out. SO UH YEAH. Reblogging this again in hopes that it brings equally good fortune to my followers.
Sure why not? Jobs bring in money and prosperityā¦
So needšš
Gimme some fucking money
everyone started reblogging this again and itās not even ChristmasĀ

An Open Letter to Tumblr about the Adult Content Ban and How it is Hurting Your Users:
Recently, Tumblr was removed from the Apple app store due to an incident involving child pornography. This incident is incredibly unfortunate, but it doesnāt stand alone. Tumblr was also removed from the app store due to the large influx of porn bots and pornographic spam, users claiming to be proud to be pedophiles, blatant Nazism, racists who are not deleted for sending hate and harassing users, and more. I myself reported someone for harassing me, but because I had blocked the person and couldnāt access the messages where they harassed me, they were still able to send me anonymous asks. Your support staff, with back doors to the website (presumably), claimed they could not access the messages, and I was left SOL. Many features on this website do nothing to actually protect your users from harassment, racism, homophobia, transphobia, Nazis, pedophiles, predators, porn bots, and more.Ā
You claim in your statement to us that you āhave been working on these problems for a long timeā. This is blatantly untrue. Please do not lie to us and patronize us. Weāve been here. Weāve seen you do nothing over, and over, and over again.Ā
We complained to you for months and months about the rampant porn bots, and you did nothing except add a report button on mobile which only reported sensitive content or spam at best. You could have addressed this problem with an effective algorithm, but you did not. We complained to you about being harassed and sent hate speech for being LGBT+, and you did nothing. We complained to you about blogs being randomly deleted, and sometimes youāve restored them, other times you have not. We complained to you that there were people proudly claiming to beĀ āMinor Attracted Personsā, or pedophiles, and you did nothing. We complained to you about people proudly claiming to be white supremacists, and you did nothing. All of these things areĀ āagainst the community guidelinesā, and yet over and over, you have not found effective ways to handle these problems or suppress the feeling of welcome that these users claim to get here. You have had a long time to work on these problems, but you havenāt addressed them. To say you have is untrue.Ā
Ā Multiple other social networking websites, such as Wordpress, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and others have effectively dealt with rampant pornography, racism, pedophilia, and other problems without causing massive issues for their users who are not misusing the platform. They are continuing to find new, effective ways to deal with these issues without causing problems for their userbase as a whole.Ā There is no reason that you are unable to do this effectively other than that you wanted to do it quickly. You have once again chosen your stock holders over your users. And we have had enough.Ā
You have already started to ban āAdultā content with a new algorithm. Here are screenshots of just a fraction of the posts you have flagged as containing adult content:
Your new system of simply tackling everything at once is not working. At all. And each of these screenshots is proof of your utter incompetence. None of these posts contain pornographic acts,Ā āfemale nipplesā, or any community violation of any kind.Ā
We, the users, have been asking you for months to deal with these problems - particularly, the porn bots and bots that spam. In order to block a bot from a side blog, I have to do it manually, even though they are in my side blogās feed. This is a huge issue for mobile - only users. They keep cropping up in droves, taking over our posts and tricking google into making it look like a legitimate blog linked to a pornographic website. We have complained to you for months and months now, and your solution to simply āban all adult contentā is ineffective. I agree that children should not be able to access pornography - but this is not how you tackle a porn bot problem. Your system is utterly useless, allows for racists, pedophiles, porn bots, and Nazis to remain untouched. It also harms sex workers and real people who may use this website for some forms of adult content responsibly. Moreover, as seen above, it harms plenty of users who have in no way violated your terms of service.
Ā If you keep this up, you threaten your website and company as a whole. Many of us are backing up our blogs and planning places to go to.Ā
You already have a content filter for āsensitiveā content (content inappropriate for younger viewers). You could have improved this, instead of attacking your entire user base. It seems to be a very lazy āsolutionā, if you could call it one at all, and one that harms your entire userbase.
If you are going to keep this filter in place and make Tumblr, a website that has never been known for being family friendly and has never claimed to be, you are going to lose millions of your users. We are already planning our exodus. It isnāt hard to follow. Censor us, and we will go somewhere else. That is not a threat. It is a promise.Ā
Sincerely,Ā
The users of your website.Ā

Not a curse but I fucking need this right now .
a rare closeup of a black swift, found throughout north america and small parts of south america. swifts are rarely seen up close; they spend more of their life in air than any other species of bird - they eat, drink, mate and sleep while in flight. they are incapable of perching like other birds; they must cling to vertical surfaces.
(x)
I had to look this up becauseĀ āsleep while in flightā ????
but yeah, apparently completely true.Ā these birds stay aloft for as much as 10 months nonstop, feed on insects, spend more energy at night (when there arenāt warm thermals to ride) and at dawn and dusk climb to 10,000 ft altitude where the 30 min slow descent is probably when they catch their sleep.
theyāre unusually long-lived for such active critters (20 yrs) and they may be limiting energy expenditure by being extremely aerodynamic and narrow bodied.Ā Also a single bird travels the distance of about 7 roundtrip journeys to the moon in its lifetime (>3 million miles).

Indiaās Plastic Roads - WTF fun fact
āwe are dumping all this waste that will not biodegrade and will still be present intact in hundreds of yearsā āwe also have these roads that degrade in less then twenty years and need frequent costly repairsā āguess these two completely unrelated problems will never be solvedā
WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR
Alright, Iāve done a bit of digging and Iād like to add some things.Ā
1. These are plastic compositeĀ roads- not pure plastic. It seems like what they do is shred the plastic, melt it down, and mix it with bitumen. There seems like thereās also one project that uses plastic(specifically LDPE, or shopping bag plastic) as an additive(unclear whether the plastic is acting like a binder), and itās generally unclear how much plastic and how much asphalt is happening, which probably means everyoneās just doing their own thing, as is frequently the case in super-new stuff.Ā
The exciting part of this is having a way of getting rid of all the consumer waste thatās being produced and the savings on bitumen- you can replace up to 10% of the bitumen with plastic and itāll still work fine. I believe that this might end up in a similar niche as pozzolans(fly ash, slag, etc) in concrete- using something thatās typically a waste to decrease how much of the other stuff you need and having your cost and carbon savings happen that way, while also somehow ending up with a better product.Ā
2. āNo potholes have developedā- Iām skeptical of this claim, so I dug deeper into it. The guy who developed it, and the project which i believe is being specifically mentioned here, reports that the tensile strength and flow characteristics of the plastic-bitumen composite is better, and has a bunch of photos showing the conditions of the roads some years after laying.Ā
Iām not fan of this sort of sampling, because it seemsĀ kind of cherry-picked. Iām particularly skeptical of the claim that the roads resist UV because the #1 thing you learn in polymers is that combining UV and heat is the single best way to degrade a polymer. So, weāll see.Ā
That being said there also seems to be some synergistic effects between the bitumen and polymer, and itās probablyĀ better than just bitumen, since the plastic will encase it and make the bitumen last a little longer. Iām wondering what happens when the plastic degrades, and how the plastic will degrade.Ā
My brief foray into the published scientific literature[modification with a bunch of other stuff including old tires, ageing characteristic, a study on freeze-thaw resistance] seems to suggest that UV degradation may be a problem, as do drastic temperature changes. Iām going to have to do more research on this, but I do think thatĀ ānot a single problem after four yearsā is a suspicious, at best, claim to make, and to imply that there are no problems after fourteen yearsĀ as the screencap states is ridiculous- no one ever claimed that, not even the author!
tl;dr: yes, itās a fantastic, and very exciting, and I do mean ingeniousĀ way of getting rid of plastic trash. It will probably beat raw bitumen in performance and durability. It will definitelyĀ be cheaper, especially if you have some process to sort the plastic in place, because quite a few places will pay you to get rid of it.Ā
However-Ā the durability(and safety- does traffic generate clouds of microplastic through friction?) is a bit more up in the air. Thereās surprisingly little written about this, considering how novel the idea is and how long itās been(Dr.Ā Vasudevan got the patent in 2002, so whatās happening?).
Currently, there is no good way to recycle LDPE (ziplock baggies, plastic wrap etc) so Iām all for exploring this!! I wonder if the Black Bitumen could be acting as a UV absorber?
There are actually are several great ways to recycle all forms LDPE, including ziplock baggies and plastic wrap. I work for an LDPE recycler and can provide further info, but I mostly just wanted to correct this misinformation before it went too far. LDPE is actually one of the most-recycled plastics on the market. However, thereās very little FDA-approved recycled LDPE (for several reasons), so you canāt use recycled LDPE to create new ziplock bags/plastic wrap for food purposes, or for medical applications that have sanitary restrictions.
Millions of pounds of LDPE are recycled every day- our little recycling plant alone has the capacity of a million pounds a month, and weāre small-time compared to the recycling giants like Waste Management.
I recently attended a webinar on using LDPE as a binder in roads- the tl;dr of the webinar was that it seems like itāll work great for moderate-temperature areas (thermoplastics can get brittle when too cold, and too fluid/flexible when hot) and with the right mixture- too much LDPE and it ruins the integrity of the road. But rest assured, the recycling industry is aware of this application and is running extensive tests.
My inbox is open for anyone with questions about recycling, the recycling industry, or the plastics industry!
This is all so interesting, and I would like to make a special point to applaud Indiaās commitment to climate change and sustainability. Too often, environmental discourse gets bogged down by North Americans and Europeans, who claim that their nations shouldnāt be responsible for their own emissions, since āChina and India are worse.ā There is a huge tendency to point the finger of Environmental Blame at India, and Iām increasingly fed up with it. However, India has stood by the Paris Agreement, which the USA has actually left. India is currently doing far better than the EU, Canada, Russia and the USA at keeping their emissions on track.
Too often, these things are overlooked in favor of environmentalist colonialism shifting blame onto distant targets. There is a huge tendency to make India into a sustainability scapegoat. I liked this reblog chain because I think it will help to combat that (unfair) perception.
So I think itās really pleasant to see a nice cute friendly post with such positive representation of Indian research and engineering. Iām glad it has been corrected from the original sensationalist claims, and I looked in the notes specifically to reblog a chain that shows some critical analysis of the OP. I think this thread showcases some positive representation, environmental leadership and engineering discussion that will hopefully be interesting for you guys.
