self-love tips that might or might not help ♡
🌷 think back to what made you dislike yourself. know that it isn’t your fault. were you ignored, bullied, mocked, or compared to others by people? in that case, just know that other people can be really mean and their actions are based on their own insecurity. other people’s mean words are not a reflection of who you are.
🌷 similarly, your mean words towards yourself are not a reflection of who you are. it’s based only on insecurities and fears, which you can’t rely on to tell the real picture. you are not ugly, stupid, boring, incapable, a loser or whatever insults you throw at yourself. it’s the insecurity, not who you are.
🌷 reflect on your actions. you can override your old beliefs by overriding your old actions. do you view media that makes you hate your body? do you eat regularly and healthily? do you sleep at suitable times? do you exercise? do you spend excessive times on negative forms of social media? do you isolate yourself intentionally? do you “mind-read” others? do you excessively overthink? these are good starting points for change.
🌷 whenever you do something that perpetuates your self-hatred, do or think the opposite thing. for example, when you don’t want to eat, eat something. when you want to sabotage a task, do the task so well that you surprise yourself. when you hate your body, smile and dismiss the thought as dumb and remind yourself of your beautiful features and how your face looks when you smile! you will feel powerful when you defy your old habits or beliefs. your self-hatred will get weaker the more your do the opposite thing.
🌷 most importantly, you already know what you need to do :) it’s ok to be afraid of change, but don’t let it stop you. your life will only get better when you start loving yourself. take responsibility for yourself and treat yourself like you actually care, even if you don’t care about yourself currently (you will in the future)! doing self-love and self-care is never easy, but the journey and end results make it all worth it in the end. many traps that breed self-hatred present themselves as a way to be happier, prettier, more lovable, but when you look back you realize those lies only make you miserable. it’s time to stop all of those things and introduce more self-love and positivity into your life! you’re already strong enough to do all these tips and more, so don’t doubt yourself anymore!
