This is exactly what I mean when I say that “healthy lifestyle” blogs are basically an extension of diet culture from 20 years ago. It’s basically the exact same thing, except it’s far more insidious now because they dress this harmful shit up and tell you that this is what you do when you “love yourself” and what you have to do in order to “look and feel good.”

And this is exactly what I mean when I say that most #fitspo is fake. The bloggers who are promoting these ridiculous diets? They most likely don’t actually follow it themselves. They’re getting paid in order to market specific products for sale by diet companies. Their “healthy” images aren’t the result of these diet products, but are instead a carefully curated selection of images that are a combined result of genetics, wealth, marketing expertise and photo editing.

When the average audience member attempts to live on these diets, expecting to be transformed into a healthy fitness model, the above disasters happen.
