Don't store money in your PayPal account. My account was deactivated without warning, and everything I had in it is being kept hostage for the next 120 days. I have no idea if I'll get anything back. Why this happened is really vague. I got 2 emails with this in them. So I got through to a real person over the phone. The gist is that they see what I use PayPal for as a "risk" and no longer want their logo/company linked with me/my business, and the money is held hostage for 120 days in case someone complains they did not receive a product. Nobody reported my account for anything. There was no fraud, and nobody was dissatisfied. PayPal said "iew, no" and didn't like what i used my account for so they pulled the plug on me.

You need to move off of Google Docs!

I know some people have seen the news recently and may be doubtful of it. To the uninformed, Google Docs has started using AI to find "inappropriate" and "problematic" content, scraping your documents and deleting it. I know some people are unsure if this is real or think this is not going to affect them.

I regret to inform you that this is real.

As I was on a call with some writers and we were moving our documents as a precautionary measure, one person discovered entire pages missing that they did not delete themselves. This is happening to us, it's not a hoax or a rumor, it's happening right now. You need to move everything if you want to preserve it.

If you're a writer with writer mutuals, please reblog this so they know. I rarely write on Google Docs anymore, but I started my fanfics on there, and I would be devastated if I lost works more than ten years old because people decided marketing appeal is more important than creative freedom.

Encountered this months ago and immediately migrated all my content to another platform, as well as offline. Especially concerning given that I was writing some rather, shall we say, spicy gay stuff at the time. Hell, it wasn't even explicitly detailed!

Still mad I didn't grab screenshots, but if y'all are talking about it, then that's validation enough.

Had to track this down, since it's been months since I've last used Google Docs, but this is the summation of not only what happened and why I thought it was, but testimonials from other writers who'd seen the problematic content warning themselves.

Should I have grabbed a screenshot? Yes. Was I panicking because some higher program was deleting my work? Yes, because I am only human.

Just know that this has been going on for a few months at the very least, if not longer. Get off Google. Get your writings offline before they get wiped for not being "appropriate" enough for AI and marketing.

i removed my works months ago when they first installed ai and everyone was worried about scraping and just have empty documents that read fuck ai and ai is theft over and over. which now i think about it would be interesting to see if theyre still up....
