⠀Turning to face Stephen as they had finally reached the Sanctum, Orion’s expression softened and he gave a small yet warm smile to the older sorcerer. “Thank you… so much. That means more than you’ll ever know, or that I would ever be able to communicate to you.” The younger sorcerer answered and let his shoulders slowly relax. He needed to be able to focus, and to have a clear head.
⠀⠀⠀Giving Stephen a nod, he lowered onto the ground right in front of the Sanctum doors. His brows knitted together as he could feel the dark magic emitting from the closed doors. It was enough to make him feel sick, and he clenched his hands into tight fists. “Gross enough to make me puke,” he spat out before pushing open the doors after giving Stephen a nod.

Stephen, too, felt taken aback by the dark power that had corrupted the Sanctum. It represented itself in a mixture of purple, black and red swirls of energy laced throughout the crumbling building. The structure was fractured, not unlike a 3D puzzle frozen while in the process of being assembled. He could hear the distant screams of thralls and minions that he suspected this corrupted Sorcerer Supreme had under his thumb. He glanced over at Orion, making sure he was holding together, before moving forward.
A distant laugh, deep and menacing, echoed throughout the area, and Stephen looked up the broken Grand Staircase to see his doppelganger standing at the top of the stairs.
“Well, well, well…Doctor Strange, I presume.” He then looked to Orion. “And son. Oh…wait…not really. I killed him, didn’t I, boy? I’d nearly forgotten.”
The Dark Sorcerer floated out a bit past the staircase, staring ominously at Stephen. “So, this one wrangled you into doing what he failed at so spectacularly? Fine by me,” he said, breaking into a laugh. “I can kill two Sorcerer Supremes just as well - and as violently - as one.”

⠀⠀⠀Orion felt his skin crawl from the dark energy radiating from the building. Chills went up his spine as the poisonous energy was almost suffocating. It irritated him to no end to see his childhood home torn to shreds by a monster that bore his dead father’s face and body. The screams were enough to make his head spin but he knew he had to keep it together — there was no other way.
⠀⠀⠀His gaze returned to Stephen and he gave him a nod of assurance. He would keep it together, he was grounded.
⠀⠀⠀Seeing the broken staircase was enough to bring back memories of when he was a child and would run up and down the grand steps. Stephen would chase after him to make sure he was staying safe, or at least as safe as you can be running up all of those stairs, and once he did finally fall — they found out he could fly. The menacing laugh was enough to snap the young sorcerer from his thoughts.
⠀⠀⠀His expression glazed over and his body grew tense, his hands clenching into tightly coiled fists. “Yeah, you did. I’m sure you didn’t almost forget, otherwise you wouldn’t have mentioned it.” He muttered as he let his eyes quickly scan the doppelgänger over. Graciously, he reminded him nothing of his father besides his looks. For that he was grateful, since it would make fighting him much more easy on the conscious.
⠀⠀⠀Slamming his hands down against the crackled floor, mirrors had began surrounding them. The building could only take so much more damage, and Orion wanted to at least try and salvage what was left of the place he had grown to call Home. “Enough!” Orion barked out and his eyes glowed white, and his hands glowed a deeper sort of forest green hue. “That won’t be happening. You will not be leaving from this building and we’re sending you back to the damned, where you fucking belong.” He spat venomously towards him, even his feet now beginning to glow with raw magic.

⠀⠀⠀Orion’s gaze darted towards Stephen when he called out his name, and he inhaled sharply through his nose and quietly out of his mouth. “I am focused,” he reiterated, dark brows settling. Then he started to look around and let his mind begin to think. He needed a clear head, or, as clear as he could get it. He had extra help now, even if it was just one person. Orion also had the time stone, which he also took into consideration.
⠀⠀⠀“Of course. Alive is the only choice we have.” Orion stated and began making his way where the Sanctum was. He figured that might be where the altered Sorcerer Supreme was — there wasn’t much else to scavenge in New York at the moment. On their way there, he took the time to engrain all the damage surrounding them into his mind.
⠀⠀⠀“Thank you for this,” the young sorcerer spoke towards Stephen. “You didn’t have to agree to help me, but you did. I’m not even your son… technically, in your timeline anyways.” A soft sigh escaped him.

As he and Orion approached the smoldering remains of New York City and floated over the dead, decimated streets and buildings, Stephen felt a sense of dread pass over him like a dark cloud. Something was very close, very powerful, and was filled with bitter hatred. He had a nagging suspicion that this alternate version of himself was, indeed, waiting for them in his Sanctum Sanctorum.
When they were finally hovering before the building, Stephen turned to Orion and replied, “I couldn’t turn my back on you; it doesn’t matter if you aren’t my son. You’re still your Stephen Strange’s son, and that’s good enough for me. I can tell you this: if I was your father, I’d be very proud.”
He looked up at the window that bore the Seal of the Vishanti, then at Orion. “Let’s finish this.”
@monachopsis-x
⠀⠀⠀The fact that Orion had to see his home so decimated and turned to ash was enough to make his magic blood boil. The clouds rolling in were dark and menacing — and Orion could even tell that the air was different around them. Something about it was so thick and almost suffocating that it made his skin crawl. This was no longer the place he had grown up in and learned to love through his almost twenty years of life.

⠀⠀⠀Orion learned a lot from his father. In his own timeline and reality — the two had been inseparable through the good & the bad, which made their bond far stronger as father and son and also companions in battle. The young sorcerer learned a lot from his father, but he also had taken it upon himself to gather a deeper understanding of the worlds around him. He just hoped he would be able to make him proud now that he was gone.
⠀⠀⠀With wide eyes, Orion was taking in the surroundings. It was disheveled and there was chaos ensuing. Rubble surrounded the sorcerers and Orion could feel his hands warm up from the magic pumping through his veins. His world was getting destroyed right before his eyes and he felt completely responsible for it. Nothing could anger a young sorcerer more than heavily misplaced accountability.
⠀⠀⠀“I don’t know,” he honestly said between gritted teeth and shot up in the air, hands aglow as he flew above them to try and get a better view of the city… or what was left of it. Thick brows furrowed together as he could get a good look, and he shook his head. His lips pressed into a fine line, and his expression glazed over briskly.
“We’re putting an end to this.”
@dxctorstephenstrange
Stephen watched Orion’s body tense, his eyes dart about as he took in the devastation. He feared for the young man’s emotional state, as it seemed he was building up a powerful rage within him. He understood his reasons for such anger and pain, but Stephen feared that it could be Orion’s undoing if he charged into a battle hastily and without proper focus.
“Orion,” he called out. “We will, I promise you…but I need you to be calm and focus. We’re on the enemy’s ground; they’re far more ready for us than we are for them.” Stephen drifted upward into the air with the help of the Cloak of Levitation, and he hovered beside the young man. “We’ll end this together, and let’s make sure we come out of it alive.”

⠀⠀⠀Orion let out a heavy breath and straightened himself up. He couldn’t let his fear cloud his judgement for what him and Stephen were about to walk into. He’s not my Dad… even if he looks just like him, the young sorcerer thought to himself. He was very grateful to have this version of Stephen on his side since he knew good and well he wouldn’t have been able to take him alone.
⠀⠀⠀Orion opened up the portal and walked through, and they were automatically greeted with chaos. His eyes widened as he looked around at his timeline and world that seemed to be crumbling around him. It visibly had shaken Orion and he ran a hand through his hair.
“Oh no…”
@dxctorstephenstrange
Stephen felt deep compassion and pride for Orion, he’d placed a heavy burden upon his shoulders and he seemed to know he was fighting against the odds, but he still faced it with determination and uncommon bravery. He knew that if he had a son like Orion, he’d be a very proud father.
When he and Orion passed through the portal, Stephen found himself standing in the midst of a waking nightmare. Save for some familiar fallen structures, he could scarcely tell they were still on any version of Earth. All around them seemed to be a ravaged hellscape of wanton destruction.
He heard Orion react in shock at what he saw, and turned to the young man. “What is it? What’s happening here? Are we too late?”
