in 2026, remember how GOOD writing feels. remember how satsfying it is to get your characters to the point you have been dying to get to, where they will experience the love, fear, relief or whatever the feeling you want to bring to life may be. let this year be the year of writing, prgress and of satisfactory endings.
wished a customer happy new year yesterday and he responded âhappy new moment! you get as many of those as youâd like :)â so weâre all gonna be okay
Susan Sontag, As Consciousness Is Harnessed to Flesh
Something they never tell you about being an adult is the power of just being The Person Who Reliably Shows Up. Even if you donât think you have much to bring to the table except being kind to people, wanting to learn, and contributing when you can. Many of the good things that have happened to me and many of the connections Iâve made have been because I just kept showing up and people were like, whelp, I guess we canât get rid of your ass and now youâre a load bearing part of the community
People have written a lot of touchy-feely pieces on this subject but I thought Iâd get right to the heart of the matter

Fun fact: you can avoid midlife crisis by literally simply just skipping it. Straight-up just skip being middle-aged. Once I turned 30 and aged out of the "young adult" bracket, I skipped straight into being a weird little old man. Record youngest bizarre old geezer in generations. Now if I'm lucky and play my cards right, I've got like 80 or 90 years of being a weird lttle old man left in me. If I manage to do a hundred, I'm going to start telling people that the secret to living to 130 is that I ate an entire pine cone every single day.
That, or that I can't die because heaven isn't taking me and the devil owes me money so he's avoiding me.

đ§ BLACKSITE ENTRY â âYOU EXIST. BUT NOBODY KNOWS WHY.â
---
Let me ask you something.
When did you decide the universe was figured out?
Was it a TED Talk? A YouTube explainer? A NASA tweet with glowing graphics and captioned confidence?
You saw the term âtheoryâ and your brain helpfully deleted it âbecause uncertainty makes your teeth itch.
But let me offer you something quieter than panic and heavier than dread:
> We donât actually know anything. > Not deeply. > Not in a way that holds up outside a textbook or an echo chamber.
â
We donât know why reality exists. We donât know what time actually is. We donât know why your thoughts arrive before you can think them.
And yet we build particle accelerators like toddlers trying to microwave a black hole because we think slamming atoms together will unlock the secrets of God.
Cute.
â
Letâs go deeper.
â˘ď¸ The Big Bang? Still a guess. â˘ď¸ Time? Might not flow â it may already be finished, and youâre just remembering. â˘ď¸ Death? Might not be an end â just a lateral move through another dimension where your brain politely forgets that you exploded three seconds ago.
Some researchers now speculate that dreams may be cross-dimensional data leakage. That when you sleep, youâre catching flickers of other lives youâre also living simultaneously but canât consciously integrate because your nervous system has a bandwidth cap.
â
Still with me?
Good.
Because here comes the part youâre not going to like.
> You may never not have existed.
No beginning. No end. Just a reformatting loop of what you call âyouâ being carried from one timeline to the next like luggage with no tags.
And maybe â just maybe â youâre the only version of yourself thatâs still conscious.
Which means all the others?
Already failed. Already gone. Already recycled.
â
Now hereâs the fun part.
You think your decisions matter? That free will is a virtue?
Youâre operating on hardware you didnât build inside a reality you didnât request and dreaming thoughts you didnât design.
But sure â go ahead and judge yourself for not having your life together on a spinning rock hurling through a mostly empty dimension created by a cosmological event that (again) we have no verified reason for.
â
Some physicists now consider the possibility that there was no beginning. No spark. No origin story.
That the universe just is.
> âWhy are we here?â > âBecause we are.â > âWhy do we exist?â > âBecause.â
Not divine. Not cruel. Not planned.
Just⌠happening.
And maybe it always has.
Maybe you're the nervous system of a universe that got bored and started writing blogs with thumbs.
â
So here you are. Alive.
With a pulse you didnât earn inside a body you barely control on a planet that could be erased by a gamma burst before you finish your next coffee.
And you're still hesitating to write the book. Still scared to say what you mean. Still obsessed with what someone might comment under a post that will vanish from relevance in under 36 hours.
Really?
â
Hereâs your cosmic permission slip:
â You donât need a reason. â You donât need the algorithmâs approval. â You donât need to be right, safe, or explainable.
Youâre here.
By whatever unquantifiable chaos birthed this whole thing. By whatever static frequency reality is currently tuned to. By whatever made stardust decide to metabolize into personality.
Use it.
Write like the universe is watching, but too old to care. Speak like your soul already left the group chat and youâre just trying to finish the monologue before the lights cut.
â
Donât wait for a clearer answer.
There may not be one.
And thatâs the most permission youâll ever need.

đ§ Reblog if you believe in scientific humility. Existential poetry. Post-cosmic cadence.
đŻď¸ Not everyone gets this memo. You just did. Donât waste it.

Dick is used to doing everything on the move, so he doesn't even notice that his behavior is not "normal".
When his mom was teaching him history, he was hanging upside down from the trapeze, trying to do a new routine.
When his dad was teaching him math, he was calculating the angles of his jumps and spins in the air.
Language? He practiced a new language on the trapeze with his parents, associating new words with the routines. If he made a mistake (either with routine or with language), they would start over so he could learn correctly.
He likes to read, but not while sitting. He usually reads while hanging upside down or swinging.
When Bruce receives the same message from his teachers for the fifth time in a row, saying that his son ward is "brilliant, a genius, but lazy", Bruce doesn't understand, since Dick always has his schoolwork done. How could he be lazy?
That is until he discovers that nine-year-old Dick is doing his homework while doing six other things at once, including practicing jumping routines, learning a new language and also planning a strategy to contain the Penguin.
Bruce: Chum, you have ADHD.
Dick: Why do you think that? *he says while hanging from the chandelier, with a math book in one hand and a device he just built that only he knows what it does in the other hand, until a second ago singing a song in a language Bruce didn't even know the little boy could speak*

the fact that all of my mutuals immediately reblogged this from me really says something about all of us, doesn't it
"Your love language is what you were deprived of as a child" actually no you're allowed to want, prefer and like things without everything tracing back to some dormant unprocessed trauma. You can just say you want to bounce on it without having to explain how as a child you always wanted - but never got - a trampoline.
