ok but. i need you to know that the mummy, men in black and pacific rim in particular are regarded as technical masterpieces when it comes to director skill & cinematography?
the intro shot of rick o'connell in the mummy is one of the best and most efficient camera work in an action movie. the way pacific rim utilizes space when showing the kaijus is literally taught in art school. they're not just blockbusters they're also iconic movies on a technical point of view!
sometimes things feel good because they are genuinely really good!

Anyone genuinely comparing the scenes where Louis and Lestat get shot so they can call it a plot hole must be genuinely dense.
Louis was in that waste of spaces home to kill him and watched as he loaded the gun to shot him. He was fully prepared and regardless of power levels no vampire is going to die to a gunshot wound.
Lestat was exiting a venue with his manager and crew, he was surrounded by fans who were all screaming for him, his guard was completely down! No wonder a man shooting him, with a modern gun too, took him by surprise. He wasn’t expecting it at all, it didn’t really hurt him but it surprised him.
Louis was ready to aura farm and Lestat wasn’t. It’s genuinely so simple and obvious that you’d have to be deluding yourself if you think these scenes have any critical comparisons to make.
The look of shock and panic on Lestat's face as he's being shot is very telling.
He KNOWS being shot won't kill him, canonically he was shot by one of the attendees at Renaud's but being shot caught him completely off guard.
There's also the fact that the gunman opened fire in a crowd and most of his fans are very much human, Lestat genuinely loves and cares about his fans. His interaction with the fan that he gave his sunglasses to is a prime example of that.
People really need to look at the setting sometimes.
Also, Lestat's problem with Louis wasn't that being shot wouldn't kill him. It's that for all Louis seemed to express concern and care for him, he didn't call or pick up his phone when Lestat reached out. Hence why he said "the next time someone tries to murder me, pick up your phone".
We know that Louis was following the tour. I'm not saying that Louis doesn't have his own stuff going on because he decidedly does but you can't really act like you care and stay silent when something happens.
i think part of louis still sees lestat as disengenous in his emotional flamboyancy. meaning, lestat will play up being sad just to get something he wants but won't actually feel the emotion at a high level. which i totally get! it's how lestat has presented himself for the majority of time that louis has known him.
but it's also left louis not really taking lestat's pain seriously because he tends to assume it's all performance. it's why it took lestat handing louis the marked up book in episode 2 for louis to understand how much it hurt lestat, even though we saw lestat going off on him about in episode 1.
and i also think it's why louis didn't call lestat after the shooting. not because louis doesn't care. but because he assumed lestat didn't. i imagine louis found out about the shooting, wanted to reach out, decided not to, felt like a coward, and then consoled himself with the thought that lestat couldn't possibly care about it or have been effected by it so there's no reason to check in.
meanwhile lestat's anger anger isn't about getting shot. it's about him feeling like louis is another person who only shows up when they need something from him but is unwilling to show up when he's the one in need.
