scottish twitter strikes again
Aye, Scottish twitter!
The second girl at least read the book to confirm that it was shit, she even had Capote on deck as backup. Chick 1 is just lazy
Nope. Girl 2 saw that Girl 1′s absolutely accurate analysis was being shut down just because it wasn’t stated in an intellectual way (in spite of its validity). So Girl 2 reinforced Girl 1′s opinions in solidarity and made sure that it was absolutely clear that Girl 1 was factually correct. WITHOUT taking credit for her observations (”kim is right” instead of “Actually, kim”)
Girls supporting Girls.
Girls not letting other girls be treated poorly.
If you read thirty pages of a book and hate it, that’s a good analysis. Girl 1 literally said, “It sucked for these reasons, and I only got through 30 pages.” She was absolutely paying attention and trying to get it. But if all you get is a headache, fuck that book.
I love this exchange

also i blew so much money on this book but it’s soooo pretty, why must the french make good comics
Because all of our comics are author comics in comparison to the American business model. Sad but true.
@qsy-draws-a-lot I understand what you mean about American comics; but could you elaborate more about the French “author comics”? Then would you please share your top three French comics? Thanks.
Last night was very productive! I did a Google search for “Bretange Babes” (Don’t judge me I’m a Celt!); and guess what? This pretty lady showed up - Bécassine! She’s been around since 1913, and to quote Wikipedia article, “ [Bécassine] is considered one of the first female protagonists in the history of French comics.”
Then I found out that her name Bécassine (a kind of a Snipe or shore bird) is a synonym for “foolish”; which wouldn’t be so bad except for the fact that she is also Breton. Then my Celtic blood started to rise and I wondered what the Breton’s think of her? Apparently Bécassine is beloved in France, but not so much in Brittany (Breizh). Many Bretons seeing her as an ethnic stereotype; a kind of a French, Little Black Sambo.
Fortunately, Bécassine has been co-opted by Breton nationalists.
Note in this poster she has a mouth and a voice! EDIT: Only after I posted this, did I notice that Bécassine not only has a mouth and a voice, but also breasts. Meaning she’s no longer the child-woman of the French comic; but instead an adult woman. Bécassine is a ‘‘woke” Breton woman!

THE TRAINS HAVE CARTOON TAMAS ON THEM
Sad update everyone, Tama recently passed away… An estimated 3,000 people, including railway officials, attended Tama the cat’s funeral on Sunday, days after she died of heart failure aged 16. [x]
For those who haven’t read articles about it, the local shrine elevated her to a god. She’s now the Eternal Stationmaster and patron god of the station.
Beautiful.
Now I’m crying thanks
and a new cat was hired right?
yep! her name is Nitama (essentially ”second tama” or “tama II”) and she served under Tama as an apprentice before being appointed her deputy
she works very hard
Everytime this crosses my dash, I reblog. It is the law.
I’m crying at 11pm over train cats
What thirty years or so Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote a song just for Tama.

I always thought that Google’s informal motto being “don’t be evil” was about as comforting as a coworker having a sign at his cubicle reminding him not to snap and murder everyone in the building.
As it turns out, watching the coworker remove the sign is even more ominous.
GOOGLE: “BE EVIL”
“Luke if you only knew the power of the dark side! Join me by installing Google Chrome, and together we can rule the internet!”
“I’ll never join the dark side. Yoda told me my father installed Firefox on my laptop!” “Luke, look into your heart and you’ll know it to be true…”
“…I am your father, and I installed Google Chrome on your laptop!’
“NOOOOO!”

Yvon’s Paris of the 1920s: A Look Back On the French Capital Nearly 100 Years Ago
Born in Bordeaux, the French photographer Jean Pierre Yves Petit (1886–1969) moved to Paris as a young man; there he parlayed a childhood passion for photography into a job at the august culture magazine L’Illustration, adopting the pen name Yvon to avoid confusion with a popular portrait photographer named Pierre Petit.
Yvon also drew inspiration from Paris’s moody weather. By exploiting the romantic potential of Paris’s clouds, mist and fog, in their ceaseless interplay with the sun, he created images that “stand well apart from views made by so many other photographers, who usually preferred sunny weather.”
