I will never understand the reasoning behind a lot of Azure hate 💔

"He lied!!! He manipulated them!!!! He lied to the whooole group!!" Did we watch the same s3 wukong where he purposefully withheld VERY IMPORTANT information? Did we watch the same s1-s3 macaque that DEFINITELY was a manipulative guy (+ very violent and almost killed MK and friends), who was ALSO under some impression he was "doing good" by trying to make MK see Wukong is not to be trusted? Did we watch the same Samadhi Fire episode with Mei SCREAMING at Wukong about how he was putting MK in danger over and over, and how he was hurting the people that cared about him the MOST? Yk, the same things Azure did?

The manipulating MK and his friends part isn’t what gets me. And yes, Macaque made that mistake too. Wukong lied because he thought he was helping his friends though, while Azure and Macaque did it more for personal benefit.

It’s when he blames their failure entirely on Wukong. Wukong is not the sole reason they lost to the Jade Emperor. Given we only see the fight from Azure’s perspective, even that’s scewed. He doesn’t mention DBK isn’t with them when I’m assuming Macaque teleports them out of there.

I know a lot of people assume he was grooming Wukong, and I think that’s because of the way he held Wukong on a pedistal. Going as far as too see him as a potential Emperor. Which is really weird. Everyone else in the brotherhood laughed at the idea of Wukong becoming Emperor (For good reason). The only thing Wukong was good at is disrespecting Heaven. Yeah, he treats his subjects well — But they are little monkeys. Taking care of a troop is entirely different than an Empire. People jump to that conclusion that Azure was grooming Wuking, because no way does he actually think Wukong would make a good Emperor on his own.

I don’t know about the grooming part, but Azure is really delusional. He wants to do good, he wants to be better, but his idea of what that means isn’t really thought out. Macaque wasn’t present when they made Camel Ridge. They sucked the life out of everything and made a wasteland. Then, Azure claimed it was for anyone who wanted to join their good kingdom. How could anyone make a kingdom out of a wasteland? It makes him stand out as someone who just wants power, and not the responsabillity behind it. No matter how he claims otherwise.

He wants to be “good”, but doesn’t put in the work that makes that possible.

I don’t like Azure (Aside from the overwhelming desire to pet his fur), but I don’t think he meant to be a bad guy. I think he wants to be good but doesn’t know how.

Someone in the comments mentioned a few of these points as well 👀👀 Except the grooming part, I don't think I've ever heard that. My main point was that I feel like there's so much reluctance from some people to even look into these characters at all, and criticize aspects (again, without really looking into it) that show up in their favorites multiple times. But you do bring up super good points :')
