Gen Z has a collective hero complex and that’s going result in a massive emotional burnout. Advocating and raising awareness for issues is undoubtedly a good thing, but thinking you are obligated to end or solve every injustice in the world is going devestate your mental health. I don’t want to sound disheartening or pessimistic but signing a few petitions won’t end the humanitarian crisis in Yemen or police brutality. It will of course help reach our goals, but not end it. Thinking the world will change in two month won’t work, this will take generations. Many have felt so burnt out lately and feel guilty about not being able to do more, I admire how empathetic our generation is, but we have to understand that we can’t save everyone. Many others have been in activism and protesting for decade, not just gen z, change takes time. Prioritize advocating and donating in your own communities. Change is slow but it will surely come. Keep your heads up. Think globally, act locally.

Yo, I just stayed up for almost five hours talking to my friend but they just now had to get off so they could sleep.

We actually used to date, but broke up and I guess she told her mom about me so when we were calling and everything her mom came into her room and she had to lie about who she was talking to. Then her mom took her phone to check messages and shit (we were rping the entire time, so that's fun).

After that we stay in silence for a few minutes until she hung up and said she was going to sleep.

Don't know why I felt the need to write this, but I guess it's just because I feel bad that I was so bad to her in the past that her mom absolutely despises me.

So, uh, yeah. I'm signing off now so I don't actually die from not sleeping for almost twenty-four hours (I still have two more hours to go). Night guys.

You know how some white people (I'm white myself, so don't get all offended) treat black people like they're mutants because they have a different skin tone? I'm talking about racists while throwing in an X-Men reference.

Well, scientifically, white people are the mutants since humans originally had a black skin tone and as they moved further away from Africa their skin turned white to adjust to their environment. So, technically, humans mutated to a have a white skin tone.

That means that white people are technically mutants.

So, if anything, white people should be treated like they're worth less than black people.

This is not me saying that we should discriminate against white people, or black people for that matter, I'm just trying to say how fucking stupid it is that we have people who are racist, who treat other human beings differently because of the amount of a certain chemical in their skin, something they have no control of. They were litterally built like that to survive in their environment, just like white people. All humans are are just animals that are trying to survive in this world and our skin color is literally just an adaption so we can survive in different climates. Can we please just stop being so fucking stupid and treat everyone like actual human beings? Thank you.

Just because I like Harry Potter does NOT mean that I like JK Rowling.

Before I knew that she was a transphobic jerk, I used to look up to her, since I loved her writing and love writing myself. Now, I've found other people to look up to such as Stephen King and Rick Riordan. They’re both amazing authors and have opinions that I agree with.

Just because the creator of something sucks, shouldn’t meant that we aren’t allowed to enjoy it anymore. That being said, I don’t think that should mean that we completely discredit the creator. They deserve credit for their work, but that doesn’t mean that we have to take their real life opinions and let it have an effect on said work. Once they put something out to the public, they can’t change it. Unless they put in their stories before they release that someone is gay or trans or black or white, that doesn’t necessarily mean that they are. 

I know that it’s a thing that a lot of people thought that Harry should have been black, even though he was portrayed as white. I personally think that he should have been black, but I also think that he was definitely bisexual. Since Rowling never directly told us in the books that he was white or that he was straight, it was up to us to interpret that by ourselves. Same with any character, really.

Anyway, I’m getting off track, so, I’ll just say what I wanted to say.

We shouldn’t let what the author thinks take away from our pleasure in enjoying something they made. We also shouldn’t let what they say about certain characters outside of their stories be canon (like what Markiplier says. He basically thinks that unless something is specifically stated in one of his works, everything else is up to us. We can perceive his world as we like, imagine things as we like, unless something happens that tells us otherwise. He says that he likes to leave things up to the viewer, which is what he does most of the time).

We should just enjoy the work for what it is, not for what the creator says it is or what the creator thinks outside of their work.
