quick heads up that i’m moving father brown posts over to my new crime show sideblog (@allthemurders) and thus won’t be using this blog anymore
Father Brown | every Hercule Flambeau appearance | The Blue Cross (s01e10)
BBC Studios confirms that the ever popular daytime crime drama will return for an eleventh series, with filming starting in the Cotswolds.
HELLO ??!! FR BROWN + SISTER BONIFACE REUNION
I love it when a basic reasonable character trait gets quickly exaggerated to the point the character in question ends up looking utterly unhinged.
Like BBC Father Brown going from "Bunty Windermere is fairly competent with a gun" to "Bunty Windermere, a 25 year old aristocratic woman, is better with a gun than literally any member of the local police force, literally all of whom, at this period of time, were literally in the army" to "Bunty Windermere can correctly identify exactly where a gun was fired from just by the angle of the bullet hole, after one single brief look at said bullet hole. She can just Do That".
I love the fact that… Sullivan knew about the play, right? He knew where to find Jeremy Sandford, and he didn’t seem surprised to see Mrs Devine or Goodfellow there. He was probably already aware of Mrs D’s involvement with the Kembleford Players, and Goodfellow may have asked for extra time off for rehearsals. And even if he didn’t know which play it was beforehand, he would have found out then, before Jeremy Sandford was murdered.
And then he just happened to casually drop a quote from the same play in Mrs Devine’s presence later? No way. That was absolutely a deliberate attempt to impress her.
I’m sure he’s genuinely a Shakespeare fan. It’s very him, and I love that for him. But that’s not all that was going on there.
It's literally now canon that Brenda sits between Mrs Devine and her date, WITH AN ORANGE JUICE.
She’s so unimpressed with him, too. 100% knows Mrs Devine can do better.
Fig. 1 A Catholic priest succumbing to the temptation of the forbidden fruit (scones he was instructed not to eat until later)
Good to see that resolution lasted less than an episode.
Maybe it’s random, maybe it’s not, but...
Father Brown fans, I LOVE YOU <3
Father Brown memes and cursed images, part eight I guess?
And yes, they’re about s10 because it destroyed me and I don’t even know if I’m writing Isabelle’s name correctly
every lady f line delivery makes me want to give a standing ovation
currently having a furious debate with myself over whether i should binge the rest of the series on iplayer or whether i should have some patience and watch each ep as they’re aired
i finally caved and watched the rest of the eps and alsjdafelkskdnsjahdgqkfjhs i have a lot of Thoughts and Feelings now
FATHER BROWN S10 E01 — the winds of change
“still here, chief inspector?”
It says a lot that Valentine had a proper handover, but Sullivan and Mallory were both so eager to leave Kembleford, they didn't even wait for their replacements to arrive.
ok but i like disaster Mrs. Devine
just realised sullivan being like "im gonna do the old fashioned thing and arrest the man standing over the body holding this (knife)" AS IF HE WASNT FRAMED IN THAT EXACT SAME WAY BRFORE??!!
