This version of Ozpin exists within Volume 1 of RWBY. He is unaware about the future as long as he is not told about it. This version of him is more focused on the actual academy and world issues, all while still fighting his secret war.

// ⛯ SEMBLANCE ⛯ //

Clarity — He is able to speed up his or people around him's thinking and slow the heart. This gives the those impacted a few seconds where time seems to stand still and their mind becomes clear. It does not stop time however those affected may feel as if so.

// ⛯ MAGIC ⛯ //

Oz's magic worked on the basis of belief and hope. If he believed in something hard enough, it would come true and manifest. This, however, is finite. The more magic used, the more hope snd belief is taken away. Enough magic usage can cause his mental state to deteriorate. Mental deterioration causes magic to be severely weakened. They are one and the same. Once weakened enough, the body will begin to rot. With enough magic and hope taken away, nothing of his body will remain.

I always come back to this and want to know what the good people of tumblr think. If Ozpin had been present for Brunswick Farms and The Apathy Grimm, do you think he would be less affected than team RWBY - a la Lapis Lazuli 'I've felt worse' - or more affected, paticularly due to his mental state at that part of the story?

My opinion, though I will be willing to admit I'm wrong, is Ozpin's way of dealing with his trauma is through extreme self-flagellation and almost taking the burden if anything goes wrong. You can sort of see this in The Badge and the Burden even, the lesson he gives Ruby is . . . not great, but my interpretation is he believes that to be true and applies it to himself as well. He strikes me as believing he has to be perfect or else it isn't worth being there, and when confronted with his imperfections in volume 6, he hides away out of guilt and a misplaced belief that everyone would be better without him. What that suggests to me is Ozpin is a man with stupidly high standards for himself, and then prone to spiral when he fails to meet said standards. So, if confronted by the turbo depression Grimm with or without that mental state he's in, I think his only hope is recognizing the effects immediately, or else I think he'd be the first to succumb.

I need all the fanfic writers to know I’m currently working on fleshing out literally everything about Beacon Academy ranging from the subjects + professors to scholarship programs to drug inspections and health check ups.

My insanity for this school did not stop at the biblically accurate map that took me 10 hours straight to make.

I’ll release this all as a google doc or ellipsus doc when it’s finished, but goodness gracious I’ve never thought this intensely about an academic system before
