MEXICO WIN!!! FUCK AI!!!
I know this is a deeply American thing to say but I am begging everyone to stay the fuck away from military recruiters. Especially high school kids. You are going to be seeing an unholy amount of them in schools or around schools or literally anywhere kids are known to congregate. THIS INCLUDES ALL FORMS OF ROTC. Stay the fuck away from military recruiters. As someone who’s familiar with entirely too many branches through entirely too many friends and family, including my partner, recruiters are authorized to say literally any fucking thing they think will make you sign on that line. They cannot and will not deliver on those promises. They need bodies for the war they’re pretending is only now starting up again. That’s all you are. A body. Stay the FUCK away from the military.
Reframing does not have to be positive. You do not have to go from “I am terrible” to “I am amazing.” Sometimes the most healing step is going from “I am terrible” to “I am doing my best.” Neutrality is still progress. It is still a shift. It is still a way out of the spiral.
I'm years into my recovery and I still find only neutrality helps, and maybe that's just what works for me.
Love this village that Tumblr truly is because it's just us sticking our heads out the window and yelling across the street, "hey, is AO3 down!?"
I just realized, Zuko was the only person around to witness Zhao’s demise
I’m imagining like the gaang is just hanging around the fire a few days before Sozin’s Comet just
Sokka: “We’re really going after the Fire Nation again so soon after the Day of Black Sun… They’ll be far more prepared this time too, I bet. I wonder who they’ll send after us…” Katara: “Probably Azula. She’s already found us once since the Day of Black Sun.” Toph: “Maybe the Fire Lord himself? That would at least make things easier for us.” Sokka: “No that would be too convenient. They’d send someone else. Possibly Zhao. We haven’t seen him in a while.” Zuko: “????” Aang: “You’re right. Not since the North Pole.” Zuko: “??????” Katara: “That is kind of strange, actually, considering how good he was at tracking us up to that point. Do you think something hap–” Zuko: “Fish ate him.” Sokka: “What” Zuko: “Fish spirit ate him.” Toph: “Fish what” Zuko: “Spirit. Ate him. Didn’t wanna take my hand.” Aang: “…………….The OCEAN SPIRIT ATE HIM?” Zuko: “Actually I don’t wanna talk about it.”
I love these tags.
Does.
Does Toph know about the whole Aang-turning-into-a-giant-ocean-fish-spirit thing? Did anyone tell her?
The Gaang play a game where they all sit on sand or something else that confuses Toph’s senses and tell her wild adventures from before they met and she has to guess which ones are true.
They also do this with Zuko, because it’s fun to watch him realise that for all the places he tracked them to, they were usually only there for bonkers reasons.
I love how NYC has done everything under the sun to deal with the rat problem and now they’re circled back and are like “Ok. We’ll legalize bodega cats. We need cats manning the food stores.” ancient problems require ancient solutions.
Best part about cats is how they can still serve their ancient purpose. So many dog breeds exist for reasons that no longer apply, but not cats. Assuming you have a good mouser that is.
Another problem with dogs is that a lot of them are not allowed to do what they were bred for and people get mad at them when they want to do it instead of being a well-behaved little sweetie. Jack Russell terriers and dachshund are both excellent hunting dogs and can make superb ratters but people buy them because they’re cute and then get angry when they’re feisty and bitey and bored without stimulation. Like, I’m sorry your terrier absolutely eviscerated a rat in your kitchen and got blood everywhere when you weren’t home but he isn’t a bad dog and that is quite literally the job he was made for.
They’re ubiquitous across the city but technically illegal though the law is not enforced, probably because there would be large scale rioting if these hardworking New York citizens were fired from their jobs. I think they were banned for health and safety purposes but the city has reluctantly admitted having cats in establishments that sell food is much less of a public health nightmare than having hordes of rats and mice in establishments that sell food. It looks like bodega cats are going to be officially legal now, not that that matters to the cats as cats love breaking laws.

everything surrounding the id laws that just passed in Kansas is fucking horrible
Hey Bri I hope you don't mind me sharing this on your post but in case anyone reading this is in Kansas or knows trans people in Kansas, Colorado is nearby and considered one of the safest states for trans & queer people. I know relocating is logistically expensive and challenging for many reasons, especially for people in a vulnerable situation, but if it is an option anyone is considering, there is a nonprofit here that may be able to help.
Steps These steps are intended to be a linear process to get you out of there and resettled here. But we get it, you’re a big kid and can do
Cancers from professional exposure Heart attacks from stressful work. Car accidents from long commutes after long stressful days Chronic illness from infections in crowded, unventilated work spaces
The damage of jobs is everywhere and it is systematically ignored.
wow if only everyone warned you about AI hallucination.
“They asked me to tell you what it was like to be twenty and pregnant in 1950 and when you tell your boyfriend you’re pregnant, he tells you about a friend of his in the army whose girl told him she was pregnant, so he got all his buddies to come and say, “We all fucked her, so who knows who the father is?” And he laughs at the good joke…. What was it like, if you were planning to go to graduate school and get a degree and earn a living so you could support yourself and do the work you loved—what it was like to be a senior at Radcliffe and pregnant and if you bore this child, this child which the law demanded you bear and would then call “unlawful,” “illegitimate,” this child whose father denied it … What was it like? […] It’s like this: if I had dropped out of college, thrown away my education, depended on my parents … if I had done all that, which is what the anti-abortion people want me to have done, I would have borne a child for them, … the authorities, the theorists, the fundamentalists; I would have born a child for them, their child. But I would not have born my own first child, or second child, or third child. My children. The life of that fetus would have prevented, would have aborted, three other fetuses … the three wanted children, the three I had with my husband—whom, if I had not aborted the unwanted one, I would never have met … I would have been an “unwed mother” of a three-year-old in California, without work, with half an education, living off her parents…. But it is the children I have to come back to, my children Elisabeth, Caroline, Theodore, my joy, my pride, my loves. If I had not broken the law and aborted that life nobody wanted, they would have been aborted by a cruel, bigoted, and senseless law. They would never have been born. This thought I cannot bear. What was it like, in the Dark Ages when abortion was a crime, for the girl whose dad couldn’t borrow cash, as my dad could? What was it like for the girl who couldn’t even tell her dad, because he would go crazy with shame and rage? Who couldn’t tell her mother? Who had to go alone to that filthy room and put herself body and soul into the hands of a professional criminal? – because that is what every doctor who did an abortion was, whether he was an extortionist or an idealist. You know what it was like for her. You know and I know; that is why we are here. We are not going back to the Dark Ages. We are not going to let anybody in this country have that kind of power over any girl or woman. There are great powers, outside the government and in it, trying to legislate the return of darkness. We are not great powers. But we are the light. Nobody can put us out. May all of you shine very bright and steady, today and always.”
