was visiting a friend who has a farm, and one of the chickens has a home made flared cone on, so i asked what was up with that and she said "that's diesel, and she's suicidal" so obviously i went ??? and she pressed the door lock on her truck fob so the truck beeped, and this dumbass bird SPRINTED full tilt across the garden to shove her head in the tailpipe. she has to be locked up and coned so she doesn't gulp down toxic fumes direct from the pipe for some idiot bird reason. she is obsessed with doing this and has to be locked up any time someone is using a vehicle.

i told her i posted about this and she has an update (which i guess content warning for animal harm [the animal did it to it's damn fool self])

she found this out the first time when she auto-started her truck to warm it up before work one below-freezing morning and came out ~5 minutes later to find (the then unnamed) diesel with her head stuffed in the tail pipe hanging limply by her idiot neck and thought that she was dead, ran over and pulled her out, and the chicken went "oh hi! anyways mind if i get back in there?" and did it a-fucking-gain??

best guess is bc she feeds her chickens with a pvc gravity pipe like this

and despite having ~40 other chickens who don't fuck this up, diesel went "food comes from tubes, this is tube, ∴ this is the ~secret~ food hole that the others do not know about. i will be rewarded with golden seed for being the cleverest of them all :)" and is now on 24/7 vehicle related suicide watch. fine line between docile and dumb sometimes.

I know this is a deeply American thing to say but I am begging everyone to stay the fuck away from military recruiters. Especially high school kids. You are going to be seeing an unholy amount of them in schools or around schools or literally anywhere kids are known to congregate. THIS INCLUDES ALL FORMS OF ROTC. Stay the fuck away from military recruiters. As someone who’s familiar with entirely too many branches through entirely too many friends and family, including my partner, recruiters are authorized to say literally any fucking thing they think will make you sign on that line. They cannot and will not deliver on those promises. They need bodies for the war they’re pretending is only now starting up again. That’s all you are. A body. Stay the FUCK away from the military.

RECRUITERS LIE

ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE BIPOC, DISABLED, OR LGBTQIA.

Abuse rates for people of color in the military have always been high, and they spiked in the Trump’s first term. When you are a part of the military it is incredibly difficult to leave or get any kind of mental health aid. They can assign you anywhere and kick you out for anything, leaving you in so much debt. In the military you are a body without free will. A well-paid body, but a body nonetheless. I have seen so many people of color leave the military broken from the abuse they endured from their white colleagues and superiors. It doesn’t matter how close your proximity to whiteness is, your economic background, there are people who will see you as a threat regardless.

For disabled people, the military is shit. Accommodations are under attack right now, and government accommodations were already shit before. I cannot stress how hard it is to get aid in the military. Disabled people have spoken about the abusive treatment and prejudice they’ve faced in the military. Not only that, but trying to leave the military can land you in jail in certain cases. And if they dismiss you, you are being left cold-fucking-turkey. They won’t give you guidance, benefits, or any kind of aid, ESPECIALLY in this current administration. It isn’t worth it.

And let’s not forget the T in LGBTQIA shall we? Under fascism, every marginalized group is stripped of their rights one by one. Homophobia, transphobia, and general bigotry are RAMPANT right now. Trans rights and gay rights are inexplicably linked, and because of the tolerance for hatred right now, it is safe to be a bigoted piece of shit right now. They’ve already banned all trans veterans, who is to say they won’t come for the rest of us next?

Being in the military as a marginalized person is especially not safe right now. Not only is it an economic risk for us, it is an active threat to your wellbeing. How the US government treats the military is a model of how it would treat the rest of the US if it had full control over us all too. Your body belongs to the military once you are in, and there are thousands of testimonies from marginalized veterans who can attest to the inherent danger in that.

They’ve come to my school 3 times already with a pull-up bar and give out rewards for doing a certain amount of exercise. People were just lining up to get a chance to try.

reblogging this again to bring up that when my grandma said she didn’t understand trans people, and why would they betray the body God gave them, it would have been 0 help to explain to her all the biological and cultural and societal components to the existence of the concept of gender and trans people. You know what did make her pause and reconsider her stance? “Did you ever think that maybe God made trans people on purpose?” And we got to have a conversation about all the interesting things God has made so why wouldn’t God make trans people? And she came out of the conversation with more grace and understanding.

And trans children in Kansas are also being targeted. Aside from the bathroom bill and driver’s licenses being revoked, the house is considering a bill (given name act) that would make it illegal for teachers to refer to kids by anything other than their birth name and “correct” pronouns. This administration is making it even harder to be trans in Kansas than it already was. I fucking hate it here.

(some guy on the internet voice) it's so unrealistic and forced when women win fights against men in stories. of course, when a young boy defeats a huge man I'm cheering and screaming because it is so badass, and when a frail old man defeats a cocky young warrior I feel nothing but satisfaction. I love these power fantasies about easily dispatching people who underestimate you, a thing I desire despite the fact that I will likely never have the skill to achieve it in real life, but I'm pretty sure women don't have that same desire, and even if they do, they shouldn't get to see it in media. because it's so unrealistic, you see. I mean I'm smart enough to know I can't take down a big man in a fight but the women, you know, they'll get ideas. I could probably do it if I trained hard enough, but the women??? for some reason I can't see it happening, and who can say why that is.
